The film makers did a lot with very little here as the budget is obviously tiny. The atmosphere quickly becomes quite creepy and a feeling of dread starts to build. I watch horror films regularly and it is rare to find one that creates a real sense of uneasiness and apprehension like this does, for me that is where true horror lies so massive credit to the film makers for that. Unfortunately there was just not enough information and the script was quite poor. There's a guy in the basement who Steve believes to be the devil: how did he get there? why does he think he's the devil? These questions are not asked by his brother Matt or his wife and this just seems beyond ridiculous. Although there is some hinting at a traumatic incident in the past and Steve's sanity is questioned there is just not enough back story and the dialogue is quite limited so you end up frustrated because there is never any real explanation for how this situation arose. I appreciate sometimes directors want to leave things open for the viewer to interpret how they want but for me there were just too many unanswered questions which left me unsatisfied at the end.

I try to give every movie the benefit of the doubt. This one was almost impossible. The middle of the movie just drags and drags with nothing interesting at all. About an hour in I was so bored i just fast forwarded about 15 minutes just to see the ending and it wasn't even worth it. I usually pride myself on finishing movies I start watching, but this one had me struggling. Other then atmosphere this movie has nothing going for it. I'd skip it if you have something else to watch.

These days ppl love special effects with devil jumping from here to there and ghosts appearing here and there.. This movie is based on acting and story, which makes it great.. With an acting crew of 3 and 2 policemen whom appear around 5mins total at the beginning and at the end I believe you must definitely see this movie. And in my opinion what makes the story great is at the end I realized that actually it is the devil who trapped these people inside that house. Also what they did with the simple door with a cross on through the movie is fantastic...

2019s I Trapped the Devil 2019s I Trapped the Devil, directed by Josh Lobo in his debut, is about Matt and Karen who unexpectedly show up at Matt's brothers house for Christmas. They enter to see that the house is in disarray, and a brother who believes that he (and c'mon, it's in the title) has trapped the Devil. This is another solid entry into the "man, 2019, you're really close" category. We've seen quite a few films come close to being really good, and this is one of them. The poster art is great, excellent score, fairly well filmed and acted, but just lacked some of the oompf that would have put it over the top. I'll be staying well away from spoilers here, but there was some missed opportunity with tension here. Don't get me wrong, there is tension and paranoia, but I would have liked to see it go farther. Additionally, the ending could have been much more effective if what happened would have been more intense and visceral. A la Blackcoats Daughter when Rose gets killed. So, this was close and good effort by all involved. With some more money, more time, more tension, this would have gone from good to great. But solid effort by a first time director, and I look forward to seeing what he does next. I'm still rating it above average, but it just didn't blow me away. 6.5/10.

In the 1960s there was a great series called One Step Beyond. In one episode, The Howling Man, a traveler seeks refuge at a remote abbey in the mountains. The monks allow him to stay the night but the abbot warns him to avoid the dungeons. The prisoner howling and screaming down there is in fact the devil and since they trapped him he has been unable to wreak evil in the world. Of course the traveler thinks they're crazy and in the night visits the howling man whom he finds to be a perfectly normal young guy, a traveler like himself who the monks seized and incarcerated. He releases the guy. You can guess what happens next. This ran for 25 minutes, a perfect length for the story. The movie lasts much much longer and is thus forced to stretch things out. This does not make for a good film.. And the makers should have acknowledged the original.

The production is aptly done but, how did Steve shrink...ah, I mean, trap, the devil in the basement? It's like telling people he captured an alien from outer space, care to explain his incredible method or awesome power? Shouldn't Matt and his wife leave once they noticed there is something wrong in the house instead of dozing off in the couch, with his unstable brother Steve standing next to them waving with a gun? While his wife started to realize something is not right locked behind the door, why in the world did Matt suddenly want to free the imprisoned man (devil?) in the basement?

The story and whatever the writers wanted to pass on could be delivered in 15-20 minutes top and I'm sure that it would be better done that eay. So that's why the 2. Nice idea but not every idea makes it to become a feature....

Was there one. It was the most awkward crap ever and will make you rethink every movie you that was bad. Like they acted like they were plucked off the street and didn't know anything. Where was the dialouge? did I miss it? Like the wife hers it know her name and doesn't tell anyone. who's calling on the phone. Why are they in one place and another whole different one the next? Did someone tell them to talk as little as possible to hide their lack off acting abilities? Was there even a script? I thought it was going in some symbolic theme. But no. It went idk where but I had the same thoughts as the first reviewer when I saw in memory of. Thank god he didn't end up seeing it. Horrible film if you could call it that. Kinda more like someone decided to pull out their phone and wing it. Oh, and was there music? I kept thinking" geez could they at least add some to build something here. No..
