Sitting outside for weeks in front of my local theater waiting for Hot Pursuit, I met some really interesting people who were really digging my commitment to see this movie. I finally got in line, went to the front of the theater where nobody sits, and had a blast! But wait, this was during the previews. The movie finally started, and the action was intense and non-stop. The acting by these two Oscar-caliber people will get your pulse pounding. The plot moves along like syrup going up a tree in Maine in January, the screenplay written in meticulous detail like the deflate-gate investigation, and the ending is as satisfying as the one in Jaws IV. See this movie. Redbox won't do it justice. It's an instant classic.

This movie was fine! Not an Oscar winner. But it was funny! In my opinion better than a bunch of cop movies (the heat, can't think of other examples). Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon were EXTREMELY hilarious together. Not the best movie ever. But, DEFINITELY NOT A 4.7/10 it was not that bad AT ALL. It's not for everyone, but I can not express enough HOW NOT BAD IT WAS. I can't comprehend why people would hate it so much. If you saw the trailer, you get it. Don't expect anything more. I believe that's why people disliked it. It was not bad. Not amazing. But, maybe rent it when it comes out. SCRIPT - 8/10 ACTING - 8/10 (what do you expect?) PLOT - 8.5/10 JOKES - 9/10 OVERALL - 8/10

This stance of abomination has no right or reason to exist in our universe for any reasonable reason. This is example of a bland, generic, linear unfunny, cheap humor pass that tries it's best to attract you with its respectable cast. There is no reason and absolutely nothing here that should compel you to watch this movie even if someone to watch it tortures you. In fact this movie is a torture during its runtime, a fully functional torture. In this review I will detail and explain exactly why this movie is functionally broken with it's fundamentals and convince you to stay away from this garbage for good. 1) Story: - So there is this generic mob guy who dies and leaves his trophy wife for good. And there is this generic cop who comes into the picture to take this trophy wife throughout the desert nation of Texas fighting some more mobs and brain-dead stupid humans throughout their journey. That is it. That is all that this stupid movie cares to give away from its plot. There are no twists and turns, there are no plot hijacks just this above plot dinging around the cast, as they traverse through this garbage story. The screenplay is incoherent; one shot of the movie is not connected to the next. One plot point once brought up is forgotten after a few minutes of its introduction. There is not knowing how to write a script, and there is hiring a 5 year old to do one, and I guess this movie has none. I have watched movies like hot tub time machine 2, which has better, improvised plot than this pile of stinking sung. 2) Casting: - I usually talk about the casting and how the actors represent the characters on screen with respect to the characters that the director and the scriptwriter sculpt during his job. But this movie didn't make me bother about the existence of itself thus keeping me uninterested about the characters themselves. As I stated previously you have a generic cop played by " Oscar NOMINATED" Reese Witherspoon, generic mob wife played by Sofia Vergara and a generic detective played by Mathew Del Negro thus summing up this casting choice as a cluster of mess led by an Oscar nominee. Let me compare this to hot tub time machine 2, that movie was bad too, but I still cared and related to the characters because of their chemistry and charm. There is none here; there is zero relationship between any people here in this movie. 3) Direction: - Let me not get started with this, only thing that could be a great title for this movie is " From the director of Step Up and all other bad movies since then, comes another bad movie ". The direction is pathetic; amateur at it's best. There was rarely a moment when I cared what was happening on the screen in front of me. The movie lacks the charm, which I guess would have lifted the marks of this movie from the hell it's currently placed in. On whole this a stupid movie that didn't make me laughs, not even once. Jokes were poor and on note references. It felt as if this movie was made to make sure that the Actors and the crew have a great road trip enjoy themselves, laugh at themselves and their below par jokes and make a movie out of it, to cash in all the expenses they bared. I request you readers not to watch this movie, even if you are forced; it's better to stay away from. You will be wasting your time and money, which you can use to pre-order and wild or hell go and watch a movie like ex machine, that is worth your time, patience and money because towards halfway of this movie, this garbage will get on your nerves, real bad.

...but so does 99% of what comes out of Hollywood these days. Other than that, I think this is a very honest film. You've seen the trailer, you know what you get + there's plenty of new jokes scattered through the plot. The story is not original, but the man characters within the comedy formula are very well developed and the chemistry between Vergara and Witherspoon is brilliant (I hope they do more projects together in the future). OK, there's nothing amazing on the plot, there are no surprise twists. There are twists, but to me they were not a surprise at all as every detail was totally predictable miles away before it happened, but this was not what the movie was all about. Hot Pursuit is about women chemistry on the screen and about gags. And there are plenty of good ones in this story. I rarely find this type of humor very funny and I don't particularly like road movies, but the two main actresses really made Hot Pursuit a real joy to follow. The dialogue pace was hilarious sometimes, the two female characters felt real among all the chaos and the movie does not try to be more than what it is, a simple straightforward great comedy with two amazing leading ladies who don't even need to open their mouths to be funny and make the comedy in the absurd situations work. (The Justin Bieber reference is classic !) Too bad about the lack of originality as we have seen all there is in this movie a thousand times over and over again, which is too bad because as a comedy this is very well written. Overall I really enjoyed this one and I cannot understand why it's been getting such bad reviews over here as there are plenty of much awful comedies out there. I loved it and I would go see another adventure with these girls if ever they make a sequel. It's not on my top list but I have a feeling that I will end up buying this movie on bluray sometime in the future. Above all it's a happy movie with a great positive feel and with more than a couple of good and creative surprising jokes in it. Pure fun. Simple but fun ! It works as a comedy and it's all that it matters.

What do you get when you bring together two actresses whose careers developed almost completely opposite of each other? Well, if they're Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, you get "Hot Pursuit" (PG-13, 1:27). Vergara's early acting gigs included several dramatic roles, but she's had her greatest successes in comedies. Witherspoon's career worked out the other way around. Known in recent years primarily for dramatic films, such as her Oscar-nominated role in "Wild" (2014) and her Oscar-winning turn in "Walk the Line" (2005), her early career was dominated by comedies. Before she got all serious on us, Witherspoon starred in the "Legally Blonde" movies (2001 and 2003), "Sweet Home Alabama" (2002) and "Election" (1999) – with two of those movies earning her Golden Globe nominations. Sofia Vergara doesn't have as many films under her bustier as Witherspoon, but she's definitely made her mark on screens big and small. Earlier in her career she found herself in deadly serious fare like "The 24th Day" (2004), "Four Brothers" (2005) and TV's "Dirty Sexy Money" (2007), but she really hit her stride in comedies. Her appearance in "Machete Kills" (2013) was an over-the-top hoot and, of course, she has been honing her craft on TV's "Modern Family" since 2009. Regardless of their previous roles, having two talented and beautiful actresses in the same film is bound to make it hot… but is it worth pursuing? Witherspoon's character, Rose Cooper, literally grew up in her dad's San Antonio police cruiser and she wanted to be just like him. She did become a cop, but her overzealous nature alienated her from other officers and led to one big mistake that landed her evidence room duty in her police precinct. Vergara's character, Daniella Riva, is the wife of a drug cartel lieutenant who has agreed to testify against his boss, drug kingpin Vicente Cortez (Joaquin Cosio). Naturally, this arrangement puts a huge target on the backs of the Rivas. Cooper's police captain (John Carroll Lynch) gives her a chance to redeem her once promising career when he assigns her to help escort Mr. and Mrs. Riva to Dallas, where they are to testify. One thing leads to another and cop Cooper and diva Riva end up on the run from the cartel and crooked cops, as the pair are forced to depend on each other if they're going to get to Dallas safely. The odd-couple pairing of Cooper and Riva is played for a lot of laughs – and a bit of drama. There are running jokes about Cooper's lack of height and overabundance of neurotic behaviors, as well as Riva's sex appeal and tough, but aloof attitude. The characters' many differences give writers David Feeney and John Quaintance and director Anne Fletcher plenty of options for comedy and they seem to explore them all. The director and her stars give us some great sight gags and physical comedy, the writers give us a lot of funny lines and situations, and the plot throws us a couple curve balls that result in a third act that is equally dramatic and humorous. Witherspoon's performance is reminiscent of Sandra Bullock's characters in her cop comedies, but sweeter and funnier. Vergara is basically playing a close cousin of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, but what works for her in her sitcom, works in this movie. "Hot Pursuit" may well be Witherspoon's best comedy to date and Vergara is nearly as funny in this film as she is on TV. These two actresses may have arrived at this comedy by way of very different roads, but I, for one, am glad they got there. The characterizations of Cooper and Riva are a little uneven and the plot is not terribly original, but the movie entertains. This may not be the hottest film in theaters this spring as it pursues the likes of the newest "Fast and Furious" and "Avengers" movies, but it is worth catching. "B+"

Okay, I won't bother giving a rundown of the plot etc as all the other reviews do that quite nicely, but wanted to add my two cents worth to balance some of the negative reviews. If you're wanting a laugh out loud funny light comedy, that you will want to watch repeatedly....this is one for the pile. I will admit I was a bit put off at first with Reece's performance..not like anything she's done before and felt a bit unnatural and forced, but as the movie went along, it kind of grew on me and she carried it off. It was also the perfect balance to Sofia's character and they are a great pairing. The script writing is fresh and very clever at times. Someone with a sharp wit no doubt. Will be looking to find more of their work! Would like to have seen more of Robert Kazinsky, he had some great lines. If you enjoyed "The Heat" with Bullock & McCarthy, you'll love this one too. I found it hilarious without being over the top.
