It's an interesting premise. A teenage girl who was expecting to die soon from cancer is suddenly told that she's in remission, and can look forward to many years of adulthood. Likewise, I don't have a problem with a protagonist trying to figure out how to adjust to a complete change in her plans. It turns out that she's more scared of living than she was of dying. The movie has a good message about living life, instead of just waiting for death.
However, the movie has a very unlikable protagonist. She keeps milking the cancer to get special treatment. That is disgusting behavior. My brother's wife lost her sister to bone cancer, and I wouldn't dare show this movie to her. Furthermore, the way Hope treats her friends is abhorrent. I know that a story needs a low point, but it doesn't have to result from the main character being a bratty jerk.
She changes, though. She finds a badly needed new friend, who helps her get her life together. Friendship is a powerful thing, and a single friend can make a huge difference in someone's life.

Hope was a selfish brat who didn't care who she affected because she had cancer. This is not at all how patients act. My brother is in remission and he is very humble and great full, like everyone else I've met who have battled. Hope was spoiled and used her sickness for her advantage which was very wrong. I know she apologized but it doesn't make it any better. Nice job for making a horrible spin off of The Fault in Our Stars.

I usually don't like drama and especially ones about cancer or dying young ....but this story intrigued me from the start ...the actress captured my attention...she's really good...everyone was ok in the movie ...the plot...the storyline...the acting...the message ....all was good...the boyfriends acting was terrible...so was the popular bully...but whatever they r not that important in this whole picture....

I understand the demographic for this film may not be myself but this doesn't change the fact that the script is truly atrocious. I watched this with my daughter of 12 upon her request but hate to say about 45 minutes in we both agreed to turn it off and watch something else. It's apparent that the actors are trying their utmost to force the terrible writing off the paper but it really is a film that never should have been made/funded, not even to mention the fact that it's disrespectful to those with cancer. Just a bad bad film just don't watch it for the love of god.

This movie is bad. Really bad. The acting is terrible. The storyline is bad. It is so far from the reality of what high school is actually like. Honestly, I feel robbed of the time I spent watching this dud of a movie. Don't be like me.

I couldn't even finish the movie!! Total disrespect with anyone fighting cancer, puts the disease as a joke. Just TERRIBLE!

My husband and I just finished watching this and don't understand the shallowness of the negative reviews! My mom just passed away at 64 from Leukemia in May 2019, and my husband's mom passed away 16 years ago from cancer at only age 44 and we felt this movie got the perspective right completely!! As much as our pain is with us constantly for losing our parents, they were adults and handled their cancer as adults.... I can't imagine being a kid-teenager faced with terminal illness being told you would never live past your teen years then to be told your pain and suffering led to remission. Hope didn't know how to feel her feelings, and popularity felt good, but she had to learn her "Aha!" moment on her own in her own way. One thing my husband and I learned from being so close to the struggle of cancer, is that each person truly deals with it in their own way, and there is no right or wrong. Remission is sometimes scarier than the terminal illness, because it doesn't mean "cure" and you are waiting for the other shoe to drop. As a child faced with a terminal illness you learn to live to die before you live, then with remission you don't know how to live without a too-soon expiration date. This movie proves exactly that and I think it was incredibly done and had such a warm heartfelt meaning. Plus the ending and credits were perfect!!!
If this movie offends you then you need to get out more and open up your mind and heart to how you would deal with a struggle like this... a terminal diagnosis as a teen from a teen prospective!! Take a moment to think how difficult a walk in their shoes would be, figuratively and literally...

A fault in our stars wanna be! Acting, writing, character development is as bad as a rotten tomato. I just cannot even understand why they make this kind of movies, it just annoys me.
