I was a little put off by the title and synopsis of this movie, but after seeing that it is rated pretty highly by viewers and critics, I decided to give it a try. I was astonished at how bad this movie is. It is bad on so many levels it is hard to adequately describe. It is enough to destroy my confidence in the movie rating systems. The acting is pitiful, below the level of a high school play. The storyline is beyond my imagination. The props look fake, like extremely low budget. Details in the film are incredible, for example, a girl gets her head nearly cut off with a saw, goes to the hospital emergency, dies and is revived, then is nearly healed a few hours later. The only redeeming value for a movie this bad might be to have a few drinks and make fun of how bad the movie is. This is the worst movie I have seen this year (or maybe several years).

From the very beginning with its 70s intro with cheesy music in Technicolor (they are not kidding you!), you know that these people are just trying to have a laugh. There is not artistic value here whatsoever, only tons of blood, bad catch phrases and absurdity. I won't go into that because its obvious. This movie won't make a classic (even though I suspect some people will want to make it a cult classic). However, it's entertaining enough. It's not a bad film (for a purposely bad film). It's not a good film. It's only like whistling: you don't get any from it but it's enjoyable; some people hate, others don't. Let's that seemingly absurd example get you a taste of the nonsense of this film. An OK waste of time. And, no. Bears don't become "man killers" when they taste human blood. So leave them alone (Hobo, you were right though about not belonging to a zoo)

If you are into homemade exploitation torture * then this is your pick - otherwise walk away. Only really good thing about this was Rutger Hauer and some inventive killing scenes. Quality of film brought in mind early 90's low budget films shot in video. Acting and dramatic style owns much to classic splatter films like Peter Jackson's Bad Taste. What Bad taste did with style - Hobo with a shotgun only tries. Magic is broken with the dumb dialogue and violence that goes a little bit far. Violence in Bad Taste is visual and funny - so that the actual event feels less grim. It's a fine line between terrifying and imaginative. Rutger Hauer could have had a great role in this, but the director or the script gave him only one hooky monologue where he could show his talent of delivering inspiring speeches. Such a waste of talent. :(

Dialogue: "You can't save the world with a shotgun." "It's the only thing I know." The writers must have had a (shotgun) blast making this manuscript! Hehe... this was a breath of "fresh" air. Not been too many splatter movies out lately and this one didn't intend to be more than it was either. Glad to see one of the cool actors from the 80's back. I guess with The Hitcher and now this, Rutger Hauer has gone full circle!

I don't want to rate this movie, because I think it's below the rating. It was probably made either a wannabe artist without understanding the concept of movie shows, or some one looking to see what kind of garbage people would like to see. No plot, no decent dialogs, no attractive characters - no nothing. Just blood and dirt - something which I would have loved in a different concept. This movie gave me strong feeling of absolute disgust towards the world in general and movies in specific. It was so incredibly stupid and pointless, and so "cheap-horror"\Tarantino movie bloody, that even despite not having children, I actually started to worry about morals of a new generation. No child should EVER see this crap. I some will tell me this is art - In my eyes this man will be intellectually reduced to blubbering monkey. I have to fill at least 10 lines so...: Bad. Really bad. Absolute crap. yada yada yada....

This is a great example of exploitation cinima at it's best,a great dark comic book type drama and lots of action well worth a second veiwing. They lots of bad diologue that will make you laugh.

I can't fathom how this scored a 6.4 here and a 67% critics rating at Rotten Tomatoes. But even the worst reviews are too kind. This movie is a complete wreck. The only thing missing was riffing by Mike or Joel and the Bots. In fact, nothing I've seen riffed on MST3K or RiffTrax is any worse than this. At first I thought this was some kind of joke, that the comedy was intentional. But after about half an hour of this dreck, I was dismayed to discover even Rutger Hauer was playing it totally straight. Just a thoroughly awful film. Possibly at the very bottom of a long list of truly wretched films.

This movie has to be the most disgusting pile of garbage I've ever watched. When I think of Hollywood in the 30's and 40's, how it all started with the great actors, the adult story lines, I could weep. I have read other reviews, and I don't agree with any of them. How anybody can find anything positive to say about this moronic pile of crap is beyond all sensibilities as far as i'm concerned. This movie is depraved. Curiosity got the better of me as I watched. The main lead I much admire as an actor, I wont write his name in my review because he is better than this ultimate pile of junk. Hobo with a shotgun, gets rid of the bad guys, but the bad guys are'nt bad, they are literally, depraved.

Yes, they're all killing it! It's murder, it's bloody, it is the underdog getting a good beating and getting back. You know you want to see this. This is not like any other movie you've seen. Perhaps you've seen these road house movies, you've seen Running man, From Dusk till Dawn, even Mad Max. Now this is not the perfect movie, nor the perfect love making, but it is as close as one can get to the perfect slaughter, the perfect sign to a failing humanity. So full of love and hate. Like a poem in blood, like a painful reminder of then things that matter. A sword that cuts through steel. Wanted dead or Alive, Rutger Hauer, like it was yesterday evolved into tomorrow. See it. Cry. Feel humanity burn your veins.
