The acting was not the worst! The practical effects, when shown, are very good (but very far and very in-between). How filmmakers can watch, rewatch and still think that at 1 hour 50 minutes, their film does not need any editing is beyond me. Top directors will keep it to 90 minutes. This badly needs 30/40 removing, then it may be watchable. The ending is just the usual ending of 90% of horrors.

Rented this on amazon last night. As far as low budget independent films go, I was EXTREMELY impressed. Really creepy and tense slow burn that reminded me of The Thing mixed with Reservoir Dogs for the first half and then the second half gets absolutely insane!!! Definitely worth a watch. My wife and I enjoyed it.

As mentioned by other users, the 10/10 reviews are probably by production staff, but aside from the bad acting of the 2 lead male actors--most consistently the one starring as Kyle (resembles a young Paul Giamatti), the acting was fine. Maybe the other guy was basing his character on Meat Loaf, lol. I found that for a movie just under 2 hours, it kept me interested, although a few parts could've been shortened, or even cut. But I wasn't bored. I don't know what some users are expecting. We knew going in this was not a Hollywood blockbuster with Oscar award winning actors & direction, but the cinematography was top knotch, as well as the special effects. And I found nothing confusing about the ending. Nicolas Cage has done way worse movies, & always gets high scores from users & Metacritc. So users that gave this 1, 2 or 3, should just stick to moves starring their favorite stars.

I was curious about the mix of reviews and watched the movie. Someone said it was more suspense, and I agree. It held my interest. I have a lot more patience for slower films and shows since COVID. But it was also mixed with great moments and really good creepy effects. Great ending. All in all, not a 10 but certainly not a 1!

Yes, the males acting was over the top but the movie as a whole was decent! The females did AWSOME work at acting! It held my attention. I wanted to know what was going on so I definitely watched till the end! We all gotta start someone and this movie wasn't the worse I have seen!

I see a lot of reviews bashing this for "fake reviews," and then those same complainers don't review this through the lens of indie horror. Those are the ones that seem disingenuous.
This isn't a AAA production from a big studio. With the limited resources to be found in a typical indie production, the film does a great job keeping the suspense going the entire time. The length of the movie itself, I feel, is a strength in this regard rather than an opportunity, as the slow build never dips for the entire run time.
The acting was well above average for an indie flick, especially towards the end. Bryan Enright definitely has a future as a charismatic villain type, I just wish they showcased this a bit more in the beginning rather than focusing mostly on him breaking.
The practical effects and camera work were well done, and the CGI effects were more than passable.
Are there criticisms to be made? Sure. The pipe wrench scene was a mix of poor editing and underwhelming sound effects. Marshall's death went a little too long, and I couldn't for the life of me tell you if the basement door locked from the inside or out, but overall it's a fun watch and I recommend any indie horror fan to check it out.

As far as horror movies go, this one hits the mark!! I was eagerly waiting throughout the movie to see how it would unfold. It kept you interested all the way through! I especially loved the ending, very twisted! The setting was the perfect horror movie backdrop!! Rent it!!

I'm not sure why the rating is so low as this was quite good. Acting was very good,I wasn't expecting this level from the actors in a low budget horror. The director...oh boy....it isn't very often we see a new director with this talent, even though the actors impressed me it's the director that really shines for me. Look forward to seeing another project from Kris Roselli.
