Well I enjoyed this stand-up comedy. It was much better than I expected considering the ratings it got on here. There are not a lot of very good female stand-up comedians, let alone with an Asian background, but Helen Hong is one I will follow in the future. After Ali Wong, my favorite from Asian ethnicity (Vietnamese in her case), I didn't think to stumble on another Asian female that would bring a smile to my face. Helen Hong is from Korean parents, and she knows how to bring a show. She has a very good stage presence, is not afraid of making fun of sensible material, and has a good vocabulary. The audience looked like they had fun, and so did I. Looking forward to watch more shows from her.

I stumbled upon the 2022 comedy special "Helen Hong: Well Hong" by random chance here in 2022. And never having seen Helen Hong before, I opted to sit down and watch the show. Sure, I had no expectations as to what I was in for here.
While "Helen Hong: Well Hong" is a watchable show, then I found the particular comedy in the show as somewhat falling short of bringing laughs to me. Now, I am not saying that Helen Hong is not good at her craft, because she does have a good stage presence, but her jokes and comedy style just wasn't in tune with mine. But it definitely seemed like the audience present at the filming of the show were enjoying it.
Helen Hong has that particular vibe of being a natural on the stage, and she looks very comfortable on the stage. And that definitely counts for something.
A couple of the jokes and stories brought a smile to my lips, but I wasn't laughing at the material she delivered in "Helen Hong: Well Hong".
My rating of "Helen Hong: Well Hong" lands on a five out of ten stars.
