When I first started to watch Heartbreak Ridge, I expected another Clint Eastwood kicking but in some war movie. I was right, but I was wrong expecting this to be bad. Clint Eastwood is great as Tom Highway, a gunnery who must train troops and prepare for Grenada. He gives an excellent performance and he shows who his character really is and how good it is. Mario Van Peebles does really good as Stitch Jones. He shows his character well and I enjoyed it. The war part, which came mainly at the end, was cool enough. The directing was really good and all of the other actors were good. Overall this movie is very cool and I recommend it to any Clint Eastwood fans. Rating 10 out of 10.

This was supposed to be an account of life in the military. It was pretty thin. The war sequences were phoney looking and dull. The acting was uninspired, as was the plot. Once again Hollywood tries to cram to much life into to little time. Skip this one.

Eastwood having to toughen up Marines for that oh so scary "war" in Grenada. You know, the one that lasted all of eight days. The one where the US didn't even fight an army, just 10,000 soldiers vs a couple hundred Grenada cops and a few Cubans there to build a tourist airport. It was also the one where US planning was one huge SNAFU. It should have been over in a few hours. But the film imagines this was an oh so tough "war." And I'm not the only reviewer to find it ridiculous to show Marines as undisciplined. It's like showing Rangers or SEALS as out of shape wimps. A weak imitation of Sands of Iwo Jima, itself a corny film.
