Very touching and beautifully filmed story. Nick Nolte and daughter Sophie are great together, she will be a wonderful actor as she was in this story. The fast cuts was a little dizzy but was an effective technique that felt more like a slide show or one's life flashing forward. Glad I didn't let people's negative reviews from keeping me from this great film beautiful scenery throughout.

3 hours ago I never heard of this movie and now after watching this movie I must say that it is one of the best movies that I ever saw. Just incredible.

I haven't seen the original, so my rating is not based on some nostalgic emotion about the german version, this was a big mess on its own. Has its ups and downs, mostly downs unfortunately, but there are moments that are actually good. Frankly, I couldn't decide if this was a bit too much for Nick Nolte, or he was directed to portray this role the way he did.

I went to see this despite the poor rating it has. In my opinion it deserves more than a 2.9 rating. People need to stop comparing it to the original film because it's not the original film it is it's own version. I found it very moving and touching. Although a bit cheesy at times and occasionally poor acting from supporting cast (the main character with Alzheimer's very good), I enjoyed it and glad I went to see it. Insight into what Alzheimer's is like and important factual information learnt whilst watching movie.

The performance of Nick Nolte and also the granddaughter I thought were exceptional. Had me laughing throughout whilst on the next moment the verge of tears. I've never seen the original but thoroughly enjoyed this a real heartwarmer exuding charm throughout.

I thought it was great actually. I can relate in ways, from being 'Tilda, to being her Dad, and going with the flow on a lot with Amadeus!! I would've spread food on my face too!! Loved it and telling my family about this one. Thanks for all the feel goods!!

Never seen the German version but although I've read some bad reviews on here about this version I went in with and open mind and actually enjoyed it for what it was, Nolte's take on a man suffering from one of the worlds most cruelest diseases was great and at times quite heart breaking but when it was intentionally funny it did for me came across rather staged but his performance over blew that little niggle. So with that, the film itself is very well told and deserves better treatment. Hugely enjoyable fare and great performances from all involved.

To all of you hard working American citizens, which paid good money for a theater ticket to see this movie, I'm sorry you wasted your time and money. This movie is really a sleeper. It seems they tried to make a comedy about Alzheimer's disease, but it fell flat on it's face. Also, the political hits on the current president of the USA is in poor taste. I watched it on HBO, and now I feel like cancelling my subscription. Actually, I couldn't finish it. The only channel this movie should on is BBC.

This film is truly underrated! It is genuinely beautiful, hilarious and emotional. with Nick Nolte playing his part wonderfully. It is a touching story about dementia that manages to be funny, emotional, and heart-warming all at the same time. I highly recommend it. Forget the all negative reviews. It will definitely misguided you. They all are pointless. This movie should be definitely 6.5+ in IMDB ratings.
