This is a freight train of ideas - funny, uncomfortable, unique, absurd, brave, honest, brilliant ideas. It is so well-written (it gives us a peek into Hannah's mind in words so simple yet ideas so refined), well-structured (not one observational joke is throwaway, everything gets a killer callback) and well-delivered (if you've seen Nannette, this is a notch up in Hannah's brand of general Aussie-ness), that it forced me to write perhaps my first IMDB review.

If you hate jokes and love TED talks, then this is the show for you. If you enjoy being lectured, this is the show for you. I keep hearing her name so thought I would check out her "show." How is she considered a comedian???

Boring and tiring.
All she does is complaining and whining.
Although she is right in some issues, her way it's just wrong.
And she is not funny at all.
This is not a stand up comedy.
These are her thoughts, some serious some ridiculus but this is NOT COMEDY.

This was fantastic and so well crafted. Undeniably entertaining and clever. Watch it in its entirety to really get the full effect. Unless you are biased against homosexuality or women or science, or perhaps just logic altogether. If that's the case, you'll probably hate it as much as you hate everything else

I absolutely adore Hannah Gadsby. She's one of the best, if not THE best comedian I have seen. I first discovered her through seeing Nanette on Netflix, and I found the mixture of comedy, lecture and vunerability to be thorougly engaging. I couldn't see how anyone could deliver again on such a high level, but she did!
I think Nanette was so funny in part because I didn't know what to expect. But even knowing her style, this was just as good, if not better. I just want everyone to see it, and agree that it's absolutely genius.
The part about anger was so relatable, and I'm going to start using the expression "puffer fish moment". I love it! I've had many of those without knowing what to call them.
I can't wait to see the next show.

Douglas contains some thought-provoking stories but as a comedy it is a chore to sit through. Gadsby's opening bit where she explains the format of the show has potential, but it quickly dissipates as her preachy attitude is backed up with disappointing punchlines and cringy attempts at physical comedy. Gadsby's unapologetic positions on sexism and mental health need a better writer to process them into something more comedic than raw anger (Douglas has been marketed as stand-up). If there ever was proof that pandering to a political movement will get you good reviews, regardless of your writing or delivery, this is it. If you are a comedy fan, you are not the intended audience for this stand-up comedy.
