Maybe it is just because it is British humor but this movie feels like a discount version of one of the Edgar Wright films featuring Simon Peg. It is an okay movie with a few funny bits but not a movie I would want to willingly watch again.

Citizen Kane, The Godfather, 2001 there's over 100 years of examples of moving pictures more art than entertainment. And then there's Grabbers. It sure ain't fine art but, it's a whole hell of allota fun! I'm not going to bore you with a long review. I just re-watched Grabbers tonight (saw it 4 or 5 years ago when it first came out. While ironically enough drunk with my wife one night... and we loved it, though didn't remember much of it) and thought I'd stop by to say how much I enjoyed it again. I'd like to keep this review short, sorry bedtime (want a synopsis, please read one if the longer reviews) would just like to say if sometimes like myself just want to shut the old brain off relax maybe have a laugh and enjoy the goofier side of usually serious and or cerebral horror/sci-fi genre, here's a flick that fits the bill perfectly. Though I'd suggest following the house imposed two drink minimum.

When I saw the plot I immediately knew I had to watch it, I admit I enjoyed it most of the time but it needed more comedy and a scarier looking monster but I had it's funny bits specially from Ruth Bradley she was the highlight from a straight cop to a believable drunk . I hate to compare it to Shaun of the dead , and having the screenwriter admittedly claim the influence from Tremors hence the title, but you can't deny it, I wasn't that bothered by the stereotyping of Irish drunken, I didn't find it offensive in any way, but I had a hard time believing the romantic interest both protagonist were having at the end. I say Grabbers is decent enough and the CGI looked good specially for a low budget production. Sadly I wished I would have made a better effort creating better characters, anyone watching this movie would wish Simon Pegg would make a better functioning alcoholic than Richard Coyle.

This was the best terrible movie I have ever seen. Goofy Irish stereotypes, witty dialogue, alcoholism and at least one or two faces you might recognize from popular TV shows and films. I read the netflix description and couldn't resist. I had the evening, a drink on top of the couple I'd already had, a puppy in my lap and good company on the couch beside me. Best. Decision. I have made. All. Week. Honestly I was just looking for another terrible horror film. Watching bad horror films has become a hobby of late. But this? This is a HILARIOUS film. Far better than the flicks I've watched recently, which include dinocroc, spiders and battledogs. So I came into this flick with low expectations, and ended up having a real treat. What a great movie! Same level of bad/hilarious/monsters as perhaps Tremors. If you think drunk people are hilarious and that everyone else should be eaten by monsters, this film is for you!

A mildly amusing romp with no pretensions to high quality cinema. Weird tentacled aliens arrive in a remote Irish village. They soon discover that drunk Irish people can be quite nauseating--literally! I can't help thinking this movie would have been better if they'd played it straight and gone with a traditional horror angle. As it stands, it's probably fine if you're drunk enough. I didn't recognise any of the actors but they did a decent job. I rate 'Grabbers' at 16.65 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as a solid 5/10 on IMDb. 10 lines minimum, IMDb? Seriously?

This was shown on the Horror Channel last night. An island off the coast of Ireland is invaded by blood-sucking aliens. There's only one way out - get hammered! The aliens cannot tolerate alcohol, so the locals (including the police) all get thoroughly langered, leading to some amusing comedy, although the rather indistinct dialogue made parts of the film a bit of a mystery. It's sort of bad, but strangely entertaining. Take a good dose of Alien, add some Gremlins and stir in Island of Terror and you'll understand. Despite this, my wife nodded off for the last 20 minutes and asked me what happened. I had some difficulty telling her as I too was drooping a bit....

Z-Movie bunkum. Plot of B-Movie transposed to Irish Island. How imaginative -- er, NOT! Who financed this rubbish? Destined for your local 99p Shop unlikely to repay the investment. In which case, justice prevails. I got a headache watching this tiresome, dreary load of old rubbish. Charisma-bypass actors. 50p budget. Drunken Irish stereotypes abound...what a surprise then that alcohol defeats the aliens. Split my sides laughing at that plot twist, I don't think. A comedy without laughs and a horror with none. Who is writing the positive reviews? Who's payroll are they on? They should be ashamed!

Grabbers starts off promising, but towards it's prolonged end, it falls short of being something truly magnificent. As far as it's comedic humor goes, Grabbers delivers in small doses. The humor is raw and black, but that doesn't mean there weren't any solid laughs. But the main problem I faced when watching this movie was the clichéd story that we have seen before in alien/monster invasion movies. It isn't that different to the majority and it is too predictable to be a real gem. Grabbers is fun to say the least. But what it lacks is pure substance and originality. It won't be the most entertaining film on your watchlist, but if this is the solitary film that you have left to view, it won't be the worst movie you have ever seen.

It starts as a funny and hard-drinking Irish story. Sadly it can't hold it's alcohol level (and therefore loss of fun) till the end. In fact the last 30 minutes I was just using fast forward because it was boring.
