Halfway through the movie a judge, talking to a confused assistant district attorney and lead detective, commands that the Gosnell case will not be about abortion and will only discuss the criminality of Gosnell's actions. Nobody apparently prompts the judge to issue this statement, perhaps it was some unseen, higher authority, but in doing so she summarizes the plot of the film quite nicely: a factual overview of Gosnell's arrest and conviction. On my end, the Wikipedia page would have been more than sufficient.

An important look at how a despicable man is made to pay for his crimes but only after operating untouched in worse than third world conditions for thirty years. This, after public service officials and media turned a blind eye time and again.

Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer is a somber exploration of the atrocities committed by Dr. Kermit Gosnell at his Women's Medical Society abortion center in Philadelphia. This movie is well made and will hold your attention throughout. Opening with the backstory of how drug enforcement activity led to the discovery of Gosnell's multiple murders of babies who survived their abortions, the movie transitions into the trial largely ignored by the media.
Careful attention to detail was paid to the raid on Gosnell's abortion facility, giving us a glimpse into the darkness that consumed all who entered this house of horrors. The atmosphere is dank and forboding, allowing you to share in the despair of those who visited this place to kill and sometimes be killed.
The testimony depicted in the movie was based on the transcripts of the real trial held in 2013. Both the prosecution and defense were well represented, striking a balance that allowed the audience to draw their own conclusions. A conclusion that few, regardless of what side of the abortion debate you find yourself on, would disagree with.
This is a story that needed to be told and a story that everyone should see.

I remember when this story first broke. It was shocking then. This movie brings details to light that makes you really think. It's well done. It's solid truth. But it's not pretty.

I saw it and it is the most powerful film that I have ever seen in my 71 years. Everything about the film was superb. I am no film critic so I don't know what aspects (directing, editing, etc.) affect the final outcome, but I must say that all of the actors were most believable and none of them seemed to be acting (unlike so many films in the past few decades). Highest praise for all the actors, director, and producers!

The title says it all. What a nightmare of a movie and what an unapologetic piece of propaganda. There should be a free refund for people who can sit through this whole thing. The acting wasn't terrible, but what an awful movie. Time I will never get back

Perfectly acted, and rivited with facts. This movie is what America needs right now. Every teen and adult should go out and see this movie. No, nothing inappropriate is shown. Very little blood is shown. And not one baby is shown. This movie portrays the reality of what sadly happens in abortion clinics. So glad I watched this movie as soon as I could. Go with your loved ones to see this movie!

My review of powerful film "Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer." 9/10
This movie very closely follows the discovery of actual crimes committed by Dr. Kermit Gosnell, and his trial. Due to the disturbing subject matter, it could have very easily been made into an R-rated film; however, the producers decided to portray the events in a tasteful way, that would probably be rated at the edge of G/PG if played without sound; its PG-13 rating comes from the disturbing accounts of late-term abortions, abortions that are legal in many states, so long as the unborn baby's life is terminated within the womb of its mother; Dr. Gosnell's crime was killing them after they had been born.
The film was not preachy, and was not overtly anti-abortion. In fact, the most famous actor in the film, Dean Cain, remains pro-choice. What it does very effectively is reveal the horrors of late-term abortions that are performed on babies that would likely otherwise survive, if given proper medical attention. I personally think that it would also cause most pro-choice people to reconsider their support for abortions at earlier points in a pregnancy.
I would advise that you watch this film, so you can know the truth, as this film very closely followed the actual events of what happened, going so far as to follow the exact court transcripts for the trial scenes. It's not a movie that will leave you feeling happy afterward, but hopefully it will cause you to consider what you can do to help women who are in desperate pregnancies.
I doubt it will be at the cinemas for long, based on the less-than-half-full attendance we saw at opening night. Despite being a very well-made and well-acted movie, it has faced an uphill battle to be publicized, with major advertising outlets refusing to play commercials, including Facebook and NPR; powerful organizations like Planned Parenthood are also strongly pressuring movie theaters, some successfully, not to release the movie.

Truth is far worse than fiction can conceive and Kermit Gosnell MD is of the magnitude of Dr Josef Mengele and the other Nazi Doctors experimenters doing "research" in the Death Camps of Hitler's Europe.
The new chilling facts I learned about was ,first, that this current felon had been "experimenting". Early he did it with rotating knife blades but the film doesn't say what his later "experiments" were. Perhaps we will never know. Second, the directly ordered by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge's Administration not to inspect abortion clinics but stringently inspect nail salons for fear of the pro-abortion vote. This was brilliantly portrayed by the callousness of the nurse from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, abandoning almost all principles of Nursing. Third, was the Media Conspiracy to keep these decades of atrocities secret finally blown by a corageous blogger.
Tastefully done around a highly upsetting reality of current American Life but after seeing Gosnell you will have true knowledge of Good and Evil.

This absolutely is an anti-abortion movie, no matter how many times it's repeated both in the movie itself and here in the reviews. But it's fine for a movie to have a point of view. The problem here is that this is bad art. Heavy handed, poorly acted, full of cliché and worn tropes, this movie is an unentertaining slog.
