As a hardcore horror fan, i am always amused and surprised by the Japanese horror genre. No doubt some movies are good, in fact they are very good. But somewhere down the line i always felt that they are highly overrated and more talked about than French horror flicks. The Orphanage, Martyrs, Inside, and now Frontiers... French cinema is delivering what horror fans have always wanted. GORE, GORE and more GORE. Coming back to Frontiers... Yeah its a flawed movie, common even The Shawshank Redemption is flawed but who cares, its still the number 1 in IMDb all time list. Watching frontiers is like getting a punch in your stomach after fasting for a whole day. Its relentlessly real. But yeah it also has some serious loopholes. Well, i am a firm believer in entertainment. If a movie entertains me, no matter how flawed it is or how unreal it is.. I will still love it. And trust me Frontiers have loads of it. I'll go for 7 out of 10.

This has to be one of the best horror movies I have ever seen, great acting and great gore! The plot is fantastic and the actors really look the part, the lead actress really does a fantastic job and really appears to be completely out of her mind with terror. I loved this movie and highly recommend it. To sum it up: great plot great acting great location great cinematography. Be sure to check out the other French film lls (them) 2006 it is a great one too. There are some nice twists to this film and some of the scenes are very graphic.

You know, I don't blame the lead actress for her wide-eyed, over acting, over screaming performance. It's likely that that's what the director wanted, and boy, did she deliver the hamminess in spades! When she was finished screaming, she screamed some more. And when she was finished doing that, she screamed some more. Then, just when you though she'd ran out of screams, she screams some more. I did like the frantic editing work. I do appreciate the labor that went into it. I also thought the story was interesting - a Nazi cannibal movie. Was that the first? Anyway, Nazis or not, it was almost a note for note duplicate of similar inbred hillbilly horror flicks. At least this one wasn't afraid to deliver the gore. Now, if they could've just done away with that ridiculous hamminess...

Frontiers is so bizarre that it's almost great. Riots are breaking out in Paris and when four robbers hit the countryside, they end up in papa Nazi's little slaughterhouse. I'm sure there are political tones I was meant to pick up - but it was too hard to see through the gore and shaky acting.

The filming process and the cooking process are like brothers. Like twin brothers. I love to find ingredients in other films, because every director and every cook always find inspiration in another film or dish. We put in the pot: -300 g of High Tension -150 g of Wrong Turn -200 ml of The Hills Have Eyes -A pinch of Martyrs -100 g of The Devil's Rejects (seasoned with The House of 1000 corpses) -A pinch of The Descent -300 ml of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre -A pinch of Inglorious Bastards -A little touch of The Midnight Meat Train -The final detail: a little bit of La Haine and some bloodbath from Carrie. and we have...oh wait for it, wait for it... Mmm...delicious! A tasty french dish. It could taste better, though. Frontiere(s)!

OK , this basically is a story we all have seen or heard before. It could be seen as a clone of 'TCM'. This time around we have a group of young thieves who run into an old inn which appears to be inhabited by a group of cannibalistic neo-Nazis. But it is all done with such class that even the tired storyline doesn't bother. The film is really nice to look at. But the real good part is the gore. While this not may be the goriest film ever made, it has an extreme amount of gore without becoming comedic. We have an insanely bloody table-saw demise, a head blown apart in graphic detail, tendons slashed, someone is steamed alive in a boil-chamber,a neck bitten into, gunshots, pieces of glass in one's face and i will not even begin to tell what sort of things happen with one guy ... Very gruesome indeed. The movie is tight and fast-paced and very eerie. I'd definitely recommend this to any horror-fan.

I absolutely loved this movie. You might consider that comment a little crazy as to what the content and vision of the movie was, but let me break it down for you. The title of the move in French means "borders" or "boundaries" and this movie is all about them. Not only is the gore enough to make the weak stomach sick, but it's probably enough to make Wes Craven, Dario Argento, George Romero and Lucio Fulci turn their heads. The story, albeit slow at first, is very good and a damn fine revenge tale to say the least. The title is perfect because it showed what boundaries Yasmine was willing to cross to save the lives of her and her future child to escape the horrors that were of that house. But to be in her situation (believe me I do not think anyone wants to be in that situation) and to do the things she did, prove that survival can triumph fear. This movie is great and I highly recommend to fans of bloody and good revenge stories. Cheers!

I wouldn't say that Frontière(s) is a masterpiece but it is for certain one of the better French horror movies. A young gang of wanna-be gangsters meet their fate in the hands of a crazy Neo-Nazi-family - belongs to the line of movies like Wrong Turn, House of Wax, Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes etc. So what you get are some grotesque, violent and gory moments. Production and acting is decent - a solid watch.

You know you're having a bad day when you fall foul of that very worst of groups to live in a remote farmhouse, Nazi cannibals. This French entry in the cabin in the woods / last man standing / slasher / torture * stakes has everything you need to know about it in the sentence above. The endless wide bomb-shelter tunnels beneath the farmhouse are an interesting location. There is some decent acting among some of the victims, albeit of the endless snivelling kind, and it is good to see XXX having a "worm turned" moment. And if endless gratuitous and explicit violence is your thing, then you are going to really enjoy it. Personally, I found it grubby, unpleasant, one-note, derivative, misogynistic, exploitative, unbelievable, and just plain nasty.
