Right, well first of all I didn't even know that this movie was released back in 2015, I guess it was overshadowed by "Victor Frankenstein" that was also released that very same year.
Regardless, I stumbled upon director and writer Bernard Rose's 2015 "Frankenstein" movie in 2019 and decided to give it a view, based solely on the fact that it was based on the Mary Shelley novel. I didn't even know who starred in the movie, and had not even heard about it prior to sitting down to watch it.
I must say that the movie was a mixture of both good elements and not so good elements. First of all, the cinema world really didn't need another interpretation of the Shelley classic, and spicing it up to be modern really didn't alter that fact. With that being said, then I will also say that this 2015 version is actually one of the more enjoyable adaptions in quite some time.
I had perhaps expected a bit more horror elements, given the novel it is based upon, but this was more of a thriller mixed with drama elements than it was a horror movie, much to my disappointment.
However, I was rather impressed with the cast they managed to get together for this movie. First of all, I am not familiar with Xavier Samuel whom played Adam, but he really put on a great performance in this movie. But the fact that they had the likes of Carrie-Anne Moss, Danny Huston and Tony Todd on the cast list was a pretty nice achievement.
What worked the best in this updated modernized adaptation of Mary Shelley's timeless classic was the focus on the characters and the storydriven plot. I must admit that I was actually entertained throughout the course of the entire movie. Just a shame that the overall result of "Frankenstein" was a mediocre one.
The appearance and transformation - or shall we say decay - of Adam, Frankenstein's creation, was actually quite nice, and it was definitely a factor that kept the movie afloat and semi-interesting.
Having watched this 2015 rendering of "Frankenstein", I can honestly say that while it was entertaining, the movie was also at the some time mundane and generic. And it is hardly the type of movie that you will watch a second time.

Frankenstein movie is same story movie using dead people to bring back to life this story is used by almost many filmmakers. In almost every Frankenstein movie there is some different method of giving life to dead. So, in this movie there is different method they used latest technology to create body and giving them life but in this actor who played monster role did not done good job to it. I don't know what they are trying to shows us firstly they are showing that he has 1 year old mind but 1 year old baby didn't do those thing what they shows then they showing that he is rapidly learning everything but he is doing same thing as before. So, actor is looking totally confused in playing character between 1 year old baby and monster as in other Frankenstein movie they shows. That is why this movie somehow became very bad. It is very difficult to watch whole movie so I fast forward this movie completed before normal time. They also used famous actor they are playing character of doctor but what they can do to make this movie good and they have very small role. Anyway if you are thinking of watching this movie please skip it and instead watch kids cartoon movie they are better than this movie.

This is a very scary movie. 5.1 is underrating this movie. I give it 9 out of 10. This movie has a great story line. It also has great acting. It also has great special effects. Frankenstein (1931) is better. Bride of Frankenstein is better. But still this is a great movie. See it. See will scary you out of your mind. Son of Frankenstein is better. Frankenstein (1994) is better. Ghost of Frankenstein is also better. But this is a very scary movie. If it does not scary you then no movie will scary you. This is an awesome movie. Cures of Frankenstein is also better. But still this movie is a must see. Lady Frankenstein is better. But still is a great horror film.

This Updating of the Legend of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is an Inspired Film made for Today's Audience and References the State of Modern Technology, and the Fact that Human Behavior, despite Advancements, is Virtually Unchanged since Victorian Times.
It's a Timeless Tale, You See, and this Homage is True to the Novel's Themes and Literally, with Voice Over from the "Monster", Recites Passages Directly from the Book.
A Good Cast also Highlights this Horrifying and Disturbing Story that will Pull at the Heartstrings while at the Same Time, Manages to be a Hard Watch. There is so much Brutality and Abuse the Unfortunate Creation must Endure, it becomes a Mirror to Our Own Plight as a Species and to say that it "Hits Home" is an Understatement.
The Sharp Screenplay Pulls Few Punches in Making the Point that a "Fooling with Mother Nature" is a Not Always a Good Thing. The Newborn must Cope with the "Slings and Arrows" that are Thrown at Him from His Very First Breath and while Not Born a "Monster", He Certainly is Becoming One (more physically than behaviorally) because of the Flaws in Biogenesis and the "Inhuman" Demeaning He Encounters.
Overall, Despite the Familiarity with the Story and its Countless Retellings, this is a Fresh Look that is Not Shy to Show the Rotting and the Decomposing that is Life at its Most Primordial. Horror Modernists will Most Likely be On Board with this Intelligent and Thoughtful Reconsideration. It is Recommended not only for Fans Newborn to the Story, but Anyone who Likes Classic Literature and Classic Cinema.
Well Done.

Modern update of the famous story, here set in LA. Instead of a nuts and bolts style monster, such as Karloff, we have a pretty boy who is fond of saying the word "Mum". We get the young girl thrown into the lake, plus the befriending by a blind guy (well played by Tony Tod, who generously pays for Adam - I mean the monster - to have his wicked way with a hooker!). Plenty of gore. And production values are all good enough too. Now I'm all in favour of reimagening classic stories but I felt that this one didn't quite work and if I want to see a Frankenstein movie then give me Universal or Hammer instead.

Married scientists Elizabeth (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Victor Frankenstein (Danny Huston) reanimates Adam (Xavier Samuel) although he only retains the mind of a baby. He starts to deteriorate with deformities. The scientists try to euthanize him but he is too strong and too hard to kill. He escapes but causes chaos and is attacked by the angry public.
I like the idea of bringing Frankenstein into the modern world. I like doing some of the classic story elements such as the little girl and the angry mob. Around the midway point, the film loses me. The cop taking him out back and shooting him in the head is completely wrong. There are some more wrong-headed stuff like a voice-over suggesting an advanced mind which isn't right. The A-list stars Moss and Huston leave after the first act and only return for the last confrontation. Samuel is perfectly fine. This is an intriguing idea but it doesn't come to much more than an indie.

I had high hopes for this film, not because I'm a horror movie and goth-loving freak, but also because it was a fresh take on an old idea.
The film started off well enough. Victor Frankenstein was really a marginal role here; his wife was pretty much the focus as well as the monster himself. Most of the elements from classic Frankenstein were there, and that was nice to see. The acting was generally good, too, especially the monster. I think the filmmakers did well with transitioning the monster from a baby to a man.
But that's where the script fell apart. I know one thing for sure - if I was hustling on the street constantly, playing my guitar and begging for money, I don't think I'd give my hard earned cash away so some guy I just met can get laid for the first time.
And you know, there are people today who are thoroughly perplexed by the GPS systems on their cellphones. How the monster was able to navigate with it after just being recently created is a mystery to me. The monster also sure knew how to say the right things at the right emotional time.
I think that if I was a cop I'd protest this movie. Yes, the police do go over and above their call of duty at times (see Black Lives Matter), but are they really this unfeeling and barbaric? What I did like about the movie was the blood. Yeah, this one was violent as hell. The makeup was well done, too. If there's anything that stood out for me was the monster and the level of violence in the film. Just for those two things alone it's worth giving 'Frankenstein' a looksee.

The biggest mistake in this film is the final moment of the final scene, which is a bit too much like Darth Vader screaming "NOOooOOOooo!!" at the end of Episode III. Other than that, the film is remarkably restrained and allows mostly quality performances to link together this telling of the classic Frankenstein tale in modern LA. The newest wrinkle is the use of Elizabeth as a Freudian motivation for Adam, which mostly works and allows for an interesting psychoanalytic representation of the classic story.
Otherwise, Xavier Samuel is very good as Adam, providing a restrained but effective performance as the Monster/Adam and generating significant pathos for the poor but terribly violent soul.

I had high hopes for this movie.
I've watched every Frankenstein movie I could, and this one is the worst one I've ever seen. It's bad enough that it is boring and slow, it is sad, sad, sad.
While the acting is very good, it in no way redeems this movie, in my humble opinion.
Talk about about a depressing movie, this one is the most depressing movies I've ever seen.
I cannot recommend this movie in good conscience.
However, if you like depressing movies, then this is the one for you!
Did I mention that this movie is depressing!?!?
