Spoilers incoming.
One thing annoyed me enough to make an account. (subtitle accuracy)
I presume if you make a movie you get to have some control over the subtitles. I presume you'd be bothered to verify they are accurate since you supposedly put a lot of time effort and money into your movie. Even if you hire out the subtitles maybe u toss them a script Incase they are hard of hearing or check them back for accuracy before running with them.
There was one sentence where the dude talks softly to his girlfriend and says you/we'll get a room and you can get some rest while I go around town and something something I can't remember maybe kill some time. It gets translated to something weird like get a movie and make it last and something dime. Just clearly not correct. And then a key conversation later the main red herring says no I'm not the press she is. Which I have no idea what the correct word should be. Because it sounds similar enough. Perhaps its im not depressed she is. Though maybe its a radio nickname for the killer that I didn't catch 'the something' that sounds like press. I didn't pick up on half the background radio and tv chatter that were supposedly supposed to pay attention to. I just check the subtitles and foreground convo.
But I did catch one piece of background chatter that some suggest is too much of a giveaway for the end. I did catch that where someone on a program says the killler is probably a girl.
Can't remember if there were any other subtitle issues. But if they were prob lesser ones that easy to overlook. Notice this on movies often, though where a sentence is similar but not the same. Even if ur watching English language with English subitles.
One reviewer asks why Mr red herring says Dave I'm going to kill you. I wonder if maybe he said Dave your going to die, because at least then its somewhat forgiveable. I just don't want to rewatch to find out.
Think the movie would have worked better for me if the killer was a functional sociopath that killed people that loved them or formed attachments to them but otherwise didn't trigger, and the triggering event would be her boyfriend going from casual to serious.
In this movie his position must be as a beard to fit in with society and the relationship is fake, or an attempt at a relationship but unfortunately he knows too much.

I actually enjoyed this movie. Filmed as a home movie, it follows a young couple, David and Rachel, as they take a road trip from Chicago to Las Vegas. Along the way, David, who plans to propose to Rachel, begins to worry more and more that they're being followed, and that Rachel is the intended victim of a relentless stalker.
There's some wonderful scenery as they travel, including the Grand Canyon, and all the actors are quite natural and believable. Though there's not much action, there is some real suspense, and the couple is likable and you are drawn in to caring what happens to them.
However, just as the movie begins to seem as if it's endlessly spinning its wheels, and you wonder if anything's ever going to happen, there's a clever, surprise twist that, I think, most viewers won't see coming. There's also a little epilog that finally reveals that one missing piece of crucial information we needed all along.

Just as you think you know what's happening in this... 😮a big twist I did not see coming at alllll. Wow. It is a bit of a wait, gotta be patient throughout. Thought it was worth it. Plus some nice scenery throughout the film too.

You _will_ figure out the "surprise twist" far in advance of the ending of the film, which will be quickly followed by the utter nonsense that is the filmmakers' attempt at an explanation.
The gist: a man records a road trip across the country with his girlfriend because he wants to propose. He attempts the proposal a bunch of times, but the doctor following them (the ENTIRE WAY) "trying" to tell him that _she's_ the killer they keep mentioning on the radio, had even more chances to do so before he finally decides to. Doc's golden opportunity finally comes when they're at an abandoned water park, because why not? It definitely makes more sense than telling him and/or THE POLICE when they were all at a hotel which was swarming with cops and paramedics.
Anyway, if you're looking through the other reviews thinking "Ehh, _maybe_ it's not so bad," and you kinda want to give it a shot: stop it, stupid. That was me 80 minutes ago. Don't be like me.

FINALLY, one of these films has leads that are normal, intelligent, and yes, attractive. None of the usual smarmy jerks.
Yes, the film is basically watching a couple on a road trip, but with a persistent undercurrent that kept me watching. This is what many would call a "slow burn," I suppose. I wasn't bored at all.
Great found footage flick.
Now, being that several people have made the same comment, I will say something. Folks, when you mention a "twist ending," guess what??? IT IS NO LONGER A TWIST ENDING. D'oh! Granted, if you put a spoiler alert and hide the review, it's fair game. However, it's a ridiculous habit that MANY users slip into. Just stop.

I know there's a lot of hatred for 'found-footage' horror lately, though it's never really bothered me too much. In fact, I actually enjoy them when they're done right. Unfortunately though, despite the premise, 'Followed' offered nothing new.
The story centers around a couple that are moving from Chicago to San Diego. The boyfriend, David, is filming the trip (of course) because along the way, he plans to propose to his girlfriend Rachel. Meanwhile, in a not-so-subtle fashion, we learn that a serial killer is on the prowl, through various radio and news reports. Sooner rather than later it becomes apparent that they are being followed by, surprise-surprise, the vary same serial killer.
SPOILER:
I will admit that for the first 3/4 of the movie, I did not see the plot twist coming, but to the film-makers discredit, the not-so-subtle news announcements basically give it all away, making the remainder of the movie pretty lackluster. Not only that, but the plot-twist is incredibly stupid in my opinion.
Like many nerds before me, I know a lot about serial killers and psychopaths, and if there is one thing I have learned through the years of rummaging through the now rescinded website CrimeLibrary.com, it's that women are never, sole sexual psychopaths. When women do commit multiple homicides it's usually for revenge, or for financial gain. The few instances when females have been involved in a sex related killing, have all been cases where they were involved with a man who was a murderer, (Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, Karla Hamolka and Paul Bernardo, Fred and Rosemary West, etc). I'm sure there are some exceptions to the rule, but not enough that it makes Followed original, but instead, unrealistic.
In fact, I find the vast majority of serial killer movies to be incredibly annoying because they seem so ill-researched. Serial Killers do not murder people to solve math problems, create artwork or to fulfill some religious revelation. The fact that they murder for sexual reasons is a lot more terrifying to me than all that drab nonsense. I don't know why most film directors get that wrong.
Anyway, enough with that rant.
To conclude my review I will say that Followed is not a terrible movie, but it's uninspired and unoriginal. There are better found-footage films you can get your fix off of out there, like Lake Mungo or The Houses October Built.

If you like found footage movies you might enjoy this one, otherwise I'd leave it alone. Basically it's just a home movie, a pretty boring one too, for the first hour. Not until the last 20-25 minutes does the movie even have any action. If you can handle movies that end up not making much sense, go for it. But the ending doesn't fit in with what was going on in the found footage.

Really great style manner of telling the story. It was thrilling and original and the performances did well and really fit the style it was shot in. We've seen this kind of found footage film before but this was a fresh take on it. The chemistry between the leads is great and really feeds the tension that builds through the course of the film. Music was a little heavy at times but not so much as to distract or take away from the film continuing in the direction of the narrative (figuratively and metaphorically I suppose). The ending, while not completely a surprise (although surprise was not the goal here), does a great deal with little. Definitely a must see for suspense and even horror buffs for the road-trip gone awry aspect. In a larger sense, it's a must see perhaps more for the possibilities it might inspire in other movies even outside of the genre.

The movie isn't really all that bad, the actors make it interesting enough.
Once I started paying attention about them being "followed", I thought b-o-r-i-n-g and egregiously predictable...
I was wrong! Great ending. Do try and sit through it!

This movie has a familiar premise, a couple on a road trip (come to think of it isn't that pretty much the premise of nearly all of these found footage movies)? In this case the couple seems to be being stalked by an unknown man throughout.
The first hour and fifteen minutes of this movie are insufferably boring as very little happens.
The pay off if you could call it that occurs in the last five minutes or so and is so incredibly implausible that you almost laugh out loud.
Rubbish. Tick tick as I wait for a decent movie of this genre.
