Firewall staring Harrison Ford is a well planned, well thought out movie except for a few flaws. Now I never been to Seatle Washington. But I'm sure its just like any other major city in the USA and I know that in my city we cant just drive around and pull off to the side of the road whip out our laptop and just be instantaneous connected to the internet and further more drive way out in the country and still be connected, let alone get and cell phone signal. But the movie does pack a punch and is filled with action and suspenseful drama, plus it appeals to all age groups. The older crowd will enjoy Harrisons acting and the younger crowd will enjoy the techie aspect.

I saw this movie after reading some very bad reviews by critics. The reviews that I read reported that the movie was a predictable action movie. I have to object, I thought this movie was well though out and very well produced. Maybe because I am a technojunkie, I had a great appreciation for the theories that the movie produced. I feel that the ideas were very realistic, and this is something that could very reasonably happen.
Did the movie fall into the traps that many action movies do, yes. But if you are open minded and can see beyond that this movie will provoke thoughts about how secure we can make ourselves.

Oh gee, I really hoped this would be one of the movies I like, you know, there are certain types of movies you just like, for example, I like movies about bank robberies, casino robberies, where there are team efforts and careful planning, movie such as AirCon I like too, and simply well done movie without any obvious goofs, or just clumsy scenes. You know, after watching this movie, it feels like Harisson Ford is the only one who actually acted, unlike for example his wife (in a movie that is). The movie was simply unnatural, there were no seriousness, bad actors, I somewhat tried to compare this one with the Die-Hard, but this one is just incomparable, nowhere near as good as Die-Hard is. I'm very disappointed, I barely watched it till the end. Just don't waste your time, please :) Cheers, Oleg

Just saw the movie and loved every minute of it! Usually when there's a packed house of 800 or so people, you see a lot of moviegoers getting up to get popcorn, etc...
I didn't see one person move from their seats the whole way thru! It's a great edge of your seat thriller! I haven't had this much fun from an action / thriller in a long time! You guys did an amazing job!
I wish I could have worked on the movie with you all!! :) Harrison, can't wait till the next movie! And that goes for the rest of the cast and of course awesome director, Richard Loncraine.

We've seen the formula a million times at least. There are these bad people out to do harm to good people, and all for simple financial gain.In the end, through the valiant efforts of our reluctant hero, whose valiance is fueled by the fact that his family is in danger, the bad guys lose.Though this is a conventional thriller,it is still enjoyable, with Harrison Ford doing his usual credible job.Paul Bettany will probably not take a place among the most memorable screen villains in cinema history, but he does a good enough job here.I highly suggest it as a rental, and it might even be something you want to own,but don't look for anything different here.

C'mon, all you armchair critics. Too old, too many plot lines, too too. Get a grip. Harrison Ford is our John Wayne; nobody said he was too old, too fat, blah-blah to play anything (okay, except for the Roman guard that one time). The point of a movie is to entertain and that's what this film, FIREWLL, does and Harrison carries us right along side as he thwarts the bad guys and saves his family. With his adrenalin soaked shaking voice to the last scene of the "older" family man barely able to stand, his face reflecting every emotion from the, "What could have been", to the reality of seeing his family intact. So, you want to be a critic - turn to politics where it needs you and lets all go to the movies and have some REAL fun!!

I went to this film with my companion because Harrison Ford is one of our all-time favorite action/adventure actors. But at the end of this film, we looked at each other in astonishment. We could not believe we had actually paid good money to see such a hack-kneed plot, with such a lame ending. The next day I saw "Hostage" for the first time. It's basically the same story- a kidnapped family being held by bad guys to force an upright citizen into doing what the bad guys want. It was amazing to see how much better a film it was! Heart-pounding action, a sensible plot, and a much better hero- Bruce Willis kicked ass, while Harrison Ford was mumbling and stumbling thru this often nonsensical plot. And don't get me started on the product placement and commercial tie-ins. The 2006 Chrysler 300? Fageddabowdit. What was he driving when they got in the trail of the bad guys? A 1980's vintage sedan. Don't waste your time on this dog.

This is a very good and exciting movie. What makes it so good is that the story line is believable, the editing is good, and the acting is also extremely good. Like always Harrison Ford brings the action and drama feeling through the screen to you. The addition of Mary Lynn Rajskub gives the film that extra touch of acting skill. As far as the rest of the supporting actors go, they were all great and all know how to act the correct feeling for the correct moment.
The directing of the movie was great, the input of Harrison Ford kept the movie as real as possible.
So if you want to see another great action movie that has that great feeling left in you after watching it, this is most definitely one of them!

Firewall is directed by Richard Loncraine and written by Joe Forte. It stars Harrison Ford, Virginia Madsen, Carly Schroeder, Jimmy Bennett, Paul Bettany, Robert Patrick and Mary Lynn Rajskub. Plot sees Ford as Jack Stansfield, a man forced to technologically rob the global bank he works for because his family are being held hostage. Easier said than done, and maybe Jack has other ideas?
Utterly formulaic and a waste of some notable acting talent. Story offers nothing new in the long line of robbery/hostage thrillers that have gone before it. In fact Ford must have a sense of deja vu, he's trodden this well worn path before. Script is lazy and often-in the case of Bettany's weak villain-resorts to cliché all too often. There's the odd moment of excitement as director Loncraine realises the need for some impetus to jolt the film back to life, but they are all too rare an and not even the good old fisticuff finale can save this dud. 3/10
