I love cheesy horror flicks. I love horror flicks in general and I seek them out like crazy. Thank goodness for Netflix who brought a whole host of these horror flicks into my life. There is nothing in the horror genre harder than trying to create something unique and original but still keep all the necessary components to the genre. The film does all this so I have to give it props. Certainly they don't use a large genre and they even have a character played by reality TV Star Kristin Cavallari who will most certainly make people roll their eyes and laugh but you know what? She does a darn good job. The cast all take their roles seriously and I think that's important too! The film has ghosts, mystery, terror and even a great twist to the entire thriller that keeps you watching moment by moment. Fingerprints is absolutely worth seeing and it isn't even because of cheesiness or being campy because the film actually pulls off a level of seriousness. The story and the cast (especially the lead actress) will lead you through the film at a perfect pace and really keep you riveted from beginning to end. If you love ghost stories this one is aces!!
Leah Pipes is heading in the right director for her career. In the last ten years she has been fighting her way up the ladder and had some good roles and perhaps this doesn't seem like something that will get her noticed but she does a terrific job in her role leading the film! Her character is disturbed, flawed and emotional. She has a real charisma on screen and as unlikely as their relationship seems she has good chemistry with Kristin Cavallari. Cavallari plays her sister who is the stereotypical party girl but her character really works. Her performance doesn't hold a candle to Pipes but she doesn't bring the cast down as one might expect. She does a decent job and she certainly plays the eye candy role properly. Josh Henderson is good as Pipes' love interest. This film is heavily reliant on the female characters so he is definitely a back seat character but he does his role decently and their chemistry is solid. Andrew Lawrence as the resident film bully is in the same boat. Back seat character, not a big focus of the film but does okay in his role. In the poorest performance of the film is straight to video, B-Movie King who was an Oscar winner at one point Lou Diamond Phillips. He is some sort of creepy teacher/role model but his role just makes the film feel campy when he is on screen and I wish they had found a different actor entirely.
Director Harry Basil is about as eclectic or eccentric as you can get. He's been involved in enough main stream films as producer and actor but his directing history are mostly unknown straight to video productions like this but there is no doubt he has control over telling a story. Seeing this film makes me want to see his other films because he tells a great story and the small town setting with the hidden secrets is done very, very well. Brother writers Jason and Brian Cleveland are new to Hollywood but hopefully this proves they can tell a story even if it is in a genre that is known for being cliché and predictable. If anything the twist and mystery to this story is anything but predictable which makes this more watchable than your average cheesy horror. If you want a good mystery, something not too heavy and a little gem at the video store (or on Netflix) absolutely check this out because it doesn't disappoint. 8/10

A horror movie must have many given aspects, before it captures the loyalty of it's audience. The initial ingredient of course is suspense. This must be followed by a solid story line which conjures up the dark side of imagination. Lastly, it must be held solidly by the actors which must convince the audience of their fear, terror and apprehension. In this movie which is called " Fingerprints " several key aspects are definitely present. The story is that in a small town, a dramatic and mysterious event took place which centered around the deaths of a dozen children. It seems a bus load of school children were killed when their vehicle was hit by a passing train. Years later Melanie (Leah Pipes) a returning resident arrives to finish high school, learns this may not be true. Her parents worry about her as she is also a recovering drug addict who suffers from residual delusions. From the moment she starts school, she becomes aware of her tenuous situation with her strict parents, her insincere counselor and the reoccurring apparition of one of the dead children. The movie has the surprising addition of two Hollywood veterans, Lou Diamond Phillips who plays Doug and Geoffrey Lewis playing old man Keeler. Unfortunately, the film also contains several repetitive themes borrowed from 'The Sixth Sense', 'Scream' and 'Holloween' and further does not resolve some very tense and dramatic moments. As a result, the movie is deemed acceptable, though it tries very hard to become the corner stone of an anticipated sequel. ****

As a parent, I checked out the existing "Parent's Guide" for this movie today (after watching FINGERPRINTS once all the way through). The one sentence in the guide about violence\gore mentioned some impalings, and that was about it. After viewing quite a few parent guides for horror movies at this site, it seems that many of the contributors are either lazy or afraid of including "spoilers" (or both). Well, by its very nature, a parents guide should be composed entirely of "spoilers." (I just read IMDb's 13-point agreement for peer-editing the parent's guides, and it does NOT prohibit spoilers.) Now, most horror movie fans will not rule out a movie if it has "impalings." On the other hand, some will nix a flick if they know there's graphic violence against preteens. My own sister watches horror movies--maybe even those with graphic violence against preteens--but I know FINGERPRINTS has a specific violent act repeated twice--once WITH a preteen--which violates one of her "nails-on-a-chalkboard"-type taboos. So, if you are curious to find out exactly WHAT this act is, read the appropriate section of the parent's guide for this movie (which I clarified). And if YOU edit an IMDb parent guide yourself, do us all a favor: please be detailed AND comprehensive. (Since 90 per cent of the horror movies from the last 40 years are "gory," saying a horror movie "has many gory scenes" under the "Violence & Gore" section is not only redundant, but not very helpful!)

I was able to catch a screening Fingerprints at Texas Frightmare Weekend and I give this movie a big thumbs up! It was nice to see an original horror movie that is NOT A REMAKE! Based on the urban legend surrounding haunted train tracks in Texas, Fingerprints was an awesome supernatural thriller with elements of slasher movies that I found to be a good mix of ghosts and gore. The lead actress in this film was extremely engaging and her acting was top notch.
At one point I thought I knew where the movie was going, but I was pleasantly surprised by the good old fashioned twist at the end. I would recommend Fingerprints to anyone who is looking for a fun, horror/thriller.

I enjoyed watching the film Fingerprints. It is about a teenager called Melanie, who arrives in Emerald after a period of rehabilitation on drugs. When she lived in California, she took an overdose of heroin with her boyfriend he died but she was saved by the paramedics. when arriving Mel is welcomed by her older sister Crystal. Crystal tells her about an accident between a school bus and a train in 1957, which was due to a problem with a railroad crossing gate, and all of the children died. theses days there is an urban legend that if you put the car in neutral in the same place, the children will push the car and their fingerprints will be printed in the car bumper. Later Crystal invites Melanie to go to a party. When they leave the party with two friends of Crystal, they drive to the spot where the accident happened and Melanie sees a little girl. Mel speaks to her and finds that her name is Julie. Soon Melanie has visions and daydreams about the children and the accident, her mother believes that she is on drugs while Melanie tries to discover the truth about what happened in the fatal accident. This is a very good film to watch RECOMMENDED!.

The plot of movie Haunted railroad tracks lead a troubled teenager to discover the horrifying truth hidden in a small Texas town
This movies open with number of kids singing a song on the bus, there dads and mums are waiting for them and then the Parents notice train track are not working anymore, while there is train is on it way, Lady who driving then bus, couldn't see the parents telling her to stop as it was pouring down with rain, then train hit the bus killing everyone in there.
Then the movie move on to Mel who is being told the story by her sister crystal tell her that if you park your car in the same place where it happened in neutral the ghost of children will move the car off the train track into safety. Later that night in party, Mel set of off with her best Friends, and her ass-hole boyfriends, who end up on train tracks were the kids were killed, (This scene just liked the one in Final Destination where carter doesn't move the car) But in this movie he dose move the car in time, as Mel scream no, as she see a little girl in front of the train. She run out of the car looking for the girl and see her ruining into the building and everyone else run after year and are stopped by older man telling them to leave this place.
The next day she goes to the same place and leaves the car neutral and then car moves, then she see little girl again, and drop her off to her house. Then she drives off. Then again next day she goes to see owner of the house where she dropped the little girl off., but she find that girl doesn't live there anymore. So she goes back to train tracks again, walk into the old building find a pieces of paper and she run out of place as someone is watching her, then she run into her Asshole friends boyfriends who tired to raped her but gets away and leaving paper with him, Later that night, That guy is on date with a cheerleader in his car, and then someone is standing right out side car door and then both are killed in some very good deaths scenes, (Gory and fun at the time).
Mel as been seeing things all day, In gym class she doing the roping climbing thing, as she get near to top she see blood on roof and saying help me, then she falls on to the mat.
She tells the headmaster everything; even show him the paper she found Headmaster, tell her to forget everything and keeps the paper and she told that every one of those kids had street named after them, and even they had to be changed.
Later that night, she get home to see that headmaster is telling her mum what she told him, crazy mum cut a piece of her hair, so she run to her, room. And then She see ghost of girl and telling her to help again on mirror in her room, she break out of the room. Mean while head master is at train track and find out that Mel was telling him the truth, later that night, headmaster is killed.
I don't what to ruin the ending for you but I would say I was not disappointed how story came to a end.
I loved this movie it is had supernatural, which was some very creepy scene in this movie and half way into in turns into Slasher movie which has some really good death scene and keeping the supernatural until end of movie too Acting from everyone is great and the Girl you played Mel did great job.
And finally the only thing I didn't like about this movie was the last ten seconds of movies was so pointless, but the rest of the movie is fantastic.
I give this movie 9/10

Horror movies shot on video were once a genre for the scrappy independents. I now believe that part of horror history to be over. This was not shot like a horror film. It uses shaky camera motions and cutaways instead of real technique or any inspired moves. The fast motion shots are very obviously sped-up footage. The lighting does nothing but expose the flaws of the production. They look wacky and gimmicky. The horror SFX are lacking in believability. The good performances and a good script were wasted. I looked up the production company so I would be sure not to watch any more of their films. The Movie Channel should have found a find better cheaply-made horror film than "Fingerprints."

But i found this to be very interesting. i mean you may have a few bad actors but the good ones make up for it in the movies like these. were the story is more profound and unique then the high budget films that use a franchise name to install 2 crappy sequels to a one good film like we have witnessed many a time. this at least uses originality, wit, cleaver story telling and is unique to the clicky genre! this is why i watch low budget films all the time, its times when i find a gem like this that makes my low budget scavenging pays off.
great story, hope to see more from some of these people that took part in this feature!

I get that the conductor likes to torture and kill children and taught his daughter to do the same. But the villain kills older teens and an adult. These are not little kids. Is the killer targeting anyone who sits at the train tracks? Targeting anyone who snoops at the train station? Or just targeting anyone in the main character's life? At the end we find out the conductor's daughter is killing people because the towns folks lynched her father and are now trying to get her father's train station torn down. Wouldn't she be targeting the people who lynched her father or city officials in charge of the demolition? Why not attack little children like she was taught? Or at least the main character for asking too many questions. If she just happens to be a serial killer then she would have a victim profile... like all teens who visit the train tracks. How does the counselor fit into the picture? She never even met the guidance counselor, as far as we know. The killer has no motive for killing these people. If it's just killing people that the main character knows, then why not her mother and father (god knows I was hoping her mother would get it). Or do they have to have visited the tracks first? It's confusing and isn't really made clear.
Also at the end after the main character defeats the villain an entire troop of police cars 'just happen' to show up with sirens blazing. Why were they racing to the train tracks? No one had time or a cell phone to call for help. There were no gun shots to alert them to trouble. Possibly they are looking for the main character who has just fled the police station...however the police seem very polite and helpful saying "how can I help you two ladies?" Not exactly like police sent to arrest someone. Also, the dead boyfriend's truck mysteriously disappears at the end...it was parked in front of her car just 15 minutes before.

What can I say. Silly plot, bad acting with teens that look closer to mid twenties or maybe thirty. Boy friends who start up sex on a moments notice and look way to pumped up.
A absolutely absurd plot that contains some paranormal elements and a real world slayer, or mad butcher who could never be believed.
I only ask, who watches and pays for this trash? The Mom of the main heroin acted as if she needed to be in a padded cell.
I am amazed by the absolute trash that gets produced and eventually ends up on DVD for unsuspecting viewers to laugh at.
The mad slasher part could have been done away with and perhaps given this very bad flick a better rating by moderately intelligent viewers.
