I just glanced at the title in the TV listing.. and for some reason read it as "Father of the Bride".. so I taped it. When I glanced at the listing again realized I was wrong and couldn't quite place it. When I came here to look it up, I realized WHY I forgot it.. If any movie with so much comic talent was ever FORGETABLE, this is it. Perhaps, the producers should have gone the whole nine yards and cast Whoopee Goldberg as the scheming mom.. that would have made the circle complete.. but Whoopee had already made that film - with Ted Danson. And it was a lot funnier. TO be fair, a lot of the dissatisfaction with the film is due exactly to Billy and Robin being featured. We expect more from them and, when the writing doesn't support the capabilities of the actors, the results are exactly what we see here: Mediocre schlock. Since Reitman was the director, that lit a (Ghostbusters) bulb; I can see Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd doing a better job with it.. or even Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis.

A really enjoyable movie with some messages that aren't shoved in your face. You know, that's the magic of these comedy movies in the 80's, 90's and even the 2000's, most of the times comedy movies were just very entertaining and at the end of the movie had a heartfelt message. I particularly liked the part with the kid and Nikki. Their relationship is so confusing, but that's the point. Most people in a relationship, definitely during their teenage years, don't communicate well and makes the other person confused. I really liked that cuz i didn't expect it in this film. The combo of Billy and Robin is gold.

Watch out for Mel Gibson's cameo appearance as the 'punk/freak' with the face full of rings and studs who then says that "it's not the ones in the face that hurt..."

There isn't much to like here. Even Ivan Reitman doesn't have a lot of good things to say about it. You'd think turning Billy Crystal and Robin Williams loose would guarantee laughs. But you'd be wrong. There is a great cameo at the concert that keeps this from being a 1. Add this to the disappointing comedy bin, which includes Dutch, Blazing Saddles and the Hangover

Sometimes critics can be too hard on some movies...it's like everyone expects every movie they watch to become a 'classic' or an academy award nominee. Well 'Fathers Day' is neither but take the movie for what it's worth. I've never been a big fan of Billy Crystal, but he he did a good job as far as acting like the 'older brother' to Robin Williams in this movie. Williams was funny as always, doing his usual bits.. the ending of the movie was better than the beggining I think, with the son telling but men who was the real father, and finally they both found out it was neither of them. Will, this movie be remembered thirty years from now? No. But it would be refreshing to watch on a lonely sunday afternoon. Hey,I have plenty of time on sundays, and why not share a few laughs from watching this movie? ~CWM~

I liked Fathers' Day. It made me laugh. It's based on a very contrived French play, story so...well I think it took a lot of creativity to build the situations. Comedic exaggeration, physical stuff, and the tender ending, though it didn't get me to cry like Planes, Trains and Automobiles did make a good point. I relate to the whole "not knowing your father issue" and having accepted it find this movie tickles my absurd funny bone. Humorous treatments of serious issues offend some but this movie can get people talking and that's a good thing. I also like the fact that well know actors were put alongside a new actor, the one playing the young son. He did a great job portraying the ungrateful child.... Good Idea overall...

This is not a comedy classic by any means but it's good for some laughs. First of all, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal have amazing chemistry and they're going to make you laugh a little. I do think they could have been in a far better movie together but considering the fact that Robin Williams is no longer with us I can make do with this. It's not the greatest movie in the world but it is FAR from the worst movie ever made. If you want a decent chuckle from two great legends check this out, but if you're looking for a fantastic comedy watch Blazing Saddles instead.

This is a very funny, touching and inventive comedy from Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Twins, Junior). the 2 fathers(???) Jack Lawrence and Dale Putley (Crystal and Williams) get duped into the situation by Nattashija Kinski who knew them both 17 years ago and provides both Jack and Dale, seperately, the fact(???) that each one of them is the father of her missing son Scott. The two meet up and join up to go in search of the boy. I really enjoyed this movie. It has good slapstick from joker Williams and sterner, more adult humour from Crystal. The two actors work well together and they are both on top form throughout the film. Good story, good actors. Enjoyable 8/10

Great cast, great laughs. A genuinely daft movie but with loads of fun too. I thought that Robin Williams played a very good part and was particularly funny, and Crystal too. Some parts of the film do tend to be slightly iffy such as the storyline (you can't help but thinking "I have seen all this done before somewhere.") However, if you don't want to be shocked at something new and original in a movie, watch this and simply laugh. Great fun all round. 7/10
