As usual, Ernest's movies don't ever come close to winning an Oscar, but it's just sweet and innocent comedy. Your children should really love this movie...and all the rest of his movies.

Although more magic to the first. But there was this great warrior thing. Throughout the film. Clearly way better than Scared Stupid. The only movie at the theater I walked out on. That was stupid alright. Like worst film ever made..But this one made me laugh. Goes to Africa no. It was forgettable. But this movie Ranks up with the first 3 movies. Why Ernest Saves Christmas is still on dvd I have no idea. It was his Best. Then Camp and Jail. Said thing he passed away 2 years after this came out :( Not sure I've seen all of them between Stupid and Africa . Not sure I want to. This one is a fav.. Quality: (uh this is an Ernest film) 3/10) Entertainment: 8/10 Re-Playable: 6/10.

The plot was simple. There was a variety of humor throughout the show involving slapstick and one liners. A lot of jokes landed for me. Admittedly I've only seen this, "Ernest Rides Again," and the one where he goes through high school. There might be a few better Ernest flicks out there but if you are down for a 90 minute entertainment, this'll provide it for you.

I've always have loved Jim Varney's movies. He was a great actor and one of my heroes and he did good with the character of Ernest. I bought this movie on DVD at Downtown Disney and watched it. I thought that Jim gave a good performance and the plot seemed good but it didn't seem as good as the other Ernest films which I think what the problem was with this one was that they edited too much of Jim's scenes in this movie because I think during the production of this one was when he was starting to get sick with the cancer. Some of the movie was funny and it was pretty cool to see John R. Cherry III act as Ernest's buddy Ben but all in all it just didn't seem to fit the other Ernest movies in my opinion but Jim Varney did a good job playing Ernest one last time. R.I.P. JIM VARNEY 1949-2000! MY HERO!

It's nice for children but doesn't really have anything go for it for adults.

Wow! This one was even better than Ernest Goes to Africa!! I didn't think that possible, but Jim did it again. I can't wait to see Ernest The Pirate. More hilarious Varney antics, I'm sure! PS: Does anyone know how to be an extra on the set of Ernest the Pirate?

This movie stunk for me, however to be fair, I'm not a big fan of Ernest movies in general. There was a clever line that made me chuckle a bit about every 30 minutes, give or take. In the end, Ernest takes out the dictator with one of his awful pancakes but there is no explanation as to why his henchman, who is left sitting in the tank beside him, doesn't continue to pursue Ernest. He just turns around and drives away. A similar fate meets the colonel, who turns out to be evil, after he reveals his plan to steal the pluton missile. A die-hard Ernest fan might like this movie, and it's definitely not bad enough for me to give only 1 star, however, it's appeal is mighty limited. I've heard good things about the other Ernest movies, at least the ones that were not direct-to-video films, so Ernest seems to be a character that a lot of people like. That being said, this is probably not his best performance, but if you just can't get enough of Ernest and his slapstick humor, you might like this one.

This is the last of the many Ernest movies and I'm surprised that the only one I saw before was "Ernest Saves Christmas". It's kind of a shame as that was probably the best in the whole series. The Ernest P. Warrell character started out doing commercials and they made a lot movie series out of him. As you might have guessed, it's really hard to stretch a character that was funny in a few commercials into an entire length of movies. Even sketch comedy doesn't work as badly as that. It's mostly just nothing but childish jokes. It was actually weird to see a 1998 movie about fighting in the Middle East. It actually makes me weirdly nostalgic for that time period pre 911 when there wasn't really a major threat like communism or terrorism. I guess there was still warfare and there always will be. The kid and woman character in the film honestly don't do that bad of a job. Ernest would have been funny as like a side character but to make entire movies focused on him is annoying. At least we got that great Santa. *1/2

With only the vaguest semblance of a reason, Ernest is now in the Army, free to muck about in the sands of some weirdly ethnic Araby, a grotesque parody of the Persian Gulf and Somalia. He'll try to befriend an orphan lad, try to get the girl and basically hold together an uneasy mix of atrocious and overwrought acting, poorly-thought-out overlong comedy bits and a bizarre combination of stereotypes and weird, early-90's media. There's something just not right about the whole venture, but in defiance of the will of God - our just and terrible God - you'll pull through and watch the film to its inevitable conclusion. Because it's Ernest and you like Ernest.
