After reading some reviews on this movie, we did not have high expectations. However, we thought we'd give it a shot anyway, as we tend to often not like movies that "the masses" praise anyway. We loved this film. The home-made video style made it feel real, the characters were funny, natural and believable. The actors were also unknown to us - often a plus. There was a nice little dose of suspense and action, and the moral message was appealing to our sense of values regarding other living beings. The bittersweet ending also sat well with us. Thoroughly enjoyed by a preteen, teenager and mom. Highly recommend giving this film a chance. It's not all Hollywood, cars don't blow up, there's no profanity or violence, but it's adorable, and cool enough for a teenage dude.

I really liked this film. It's a fun Kids adventure in the vein of Goonies, Big, No Batteries Required or The Last Star Fighter. I guess similarities could be drawn with ET but only in as far as it's a Sci Fi film with kids in it. It's funny, well acted by the kids and I found it heart warming and exciting. Its not so much "found footage" as shot and narrated by the kids themselves but in a far more watchable way. I guess if you're not a fan of that then his isn't the film for you. It's not big budget but in now way is it "low budget". It relies on the actors to tell the story and on the story itself, not on millions of pounds worth of special effects. What special effects it uses are very well done and integrated seamlessly. Definitely worth watching!!!

My daughter and I left movie theatre 30 minutes after it started just to spend 10 minutes in restroom ill for all the dizziness for the motion of the camera. It should have a MOTION SICKNESS ALERT!
Seeing my daughter pale and sick as I was as well made the movie no-no for us.
About the story, the little we got to watch I noticed it was very predictable but well narrated.
i really would like to know how the movie ended but we were not able to go back. We had to go home right away.

We got in for an early screening of this movie, not knowing quite what it would be, just that it had kids and a cute little alien. Even not being kids ourselves, we were extra happy throughout it. It really goes from the children's perspective, as they record what they see with small cameras attached to their bikes and their glasses and their hands. The plot was nice, and we had a few good laughs throughout.
It's a great one to bring the kids to, or just a nice movie to check out. The first person and sci-fi elements made you feel like you were a part of it, and you had to help the little alien out.
Granted, it's not perfect. Sometimes there are things that the kids do which really feel like it's something kids shouldn't be doing, and the plot it fairly predictable. But still, if you want just an easy going time, it'll work out well.

I had to stop watching after 30 minutes. It was giving me a headache.
My kids said it was OK.
Nothing impressive.
I couldn't stand it.
It really lacks any originality in my eyes.
I guess if you are 9 years old, you haven't seem many of the classics.
Or, they aren't very impressive.
This ten line min is a fail when it comes to reviewing.
I don't need to read a short story when I'm looking up reviews on new movies.
Please stop making this a requirement.

Terrible. I've only ever left the theater for two movies before (The Gods Must Be Crazy and The Thin Red Line). Now make it three. The stupid found footage shaky camera thing is just awful. All the jiggling around made me nauseous. My kids seem to like the movie well enough. But I'm sitting in the theater lobby steaming that I spent any money on this horrible film. I understood from the trailer that the movie would be trying the ET and Goonies genre. But I didn't expect it to suck out loud. Plus the actors aren't very good. Just plain bad acting. If we are supposed to think any of these kids are cute then it failed. Not cute. Just predictable with flat lines. The Echo character isn't even that cute. Plus the premise is stupid. It seems like whoever wrote it didn't try that hard. Ack. Whatever.

Was not impressed at all the trailer is grotesquely misleading. Between the sub-par acting and the lackluster storyline, I would encourage you, for two hours instead of watching this movie try doing something more constructive with your life. This is a movie that should have gone straight to DVD. I would also like it to be noted that while I'm not a person who generally write reviews I made it a point to make sure that I forewarned other individuals considering going to see this movie, do not to do it!!! I would highly encourage you to wait until it comes to Redbox. And I will agree with most of the reviewers on here that this is been pretty much the horrible ET you want to be a remake.

I wanted to love Earth to Echo: it has found footage scifi, a group of rambunctious kids, a good score, and a lovable Wall-E-esque robot. Sadly, it's just not good and, more importantly, unneeded. Despite some decent humor and some fun in the scifi action, it brings little new to the kids-on-an-adventure genre. It's at best bland and at worst annoying; awkwardly performed, style-less, and forgettable. It's the story of three pre-teen friends in a town being leveled by a mysterious government project. They spend their last night together on one final adventure, befriending an alien robot. If E2E's plot sounds familiar, that's because it's a shameless mix of E.T. and The Goonies, only worse than both. The unknown young actors are completely out of their depth. The main protagonist is unbearably irritating, and the characters are nowhere near true: way too focused, determined and emotionally in touch to be believable. These performances hurt the found footage gimmick, which must feel natural in order to work. Not only is it not natural, the found footage rules are often broken, with strange edits and camera shots totally unexplained. It becomes more of a distraction than an effective tool. My father-in-law describes The Goonies, one of my favorites, as simply a bunch of kids running around and yelling. Maybe I'm getting old, but that's how I would describe E2E. It's the classic "adults just don't understand" story, but everything the kids do is so incredibly destructive I found myself siding with the antagonist adults! Kids will undoubtedly enjoy it, but it's just too familiar and unremarkable for me to get behind.
