Its a story of hope and new beginnings. The first film tackles about life goes on even in hardest times and friends came to your life unexpectedly. This sequel manage to give a new arc of the story and focus on choices and friendship.
Sawyer's story tells us that our life never stop in one side of it. Life goes on and we should try to explore it. There is a life other than in the box that were living. Don't be afraid to try new things because it will help us to grow to be a better person.
...and who doesn't inspired to swim with the dolphins and rescue animals after watching it? Because it inspired me a lot that we are all created equal and we need to show love to one another even we look different to each other.

Dolphin Tale 2 continues where the first Dolphin Tale film (2011) left off. This one is still set in the Clearwater Aquarium, a center for sick and disabled marine life. The central character is still Winter, the titular dolphin of the first film with the robotic tail.
Winter became stressed and out of sorts when his companion Panama dies of old age. Regulations dictate that a female dolphin should have a female companion. However, this companion could NOT have a clean bill of health in order to fit the criteria of dolphins allowed to stay in the center. If such a companion cannot be found, Winter will have to be transferred.
With the dolphin story so threadbare, we have to watch the kids Sawyer and Hazel undergo their own little subplots to fill the time. Sawyer had to decide whether he would accept a scholarship to attend a marine academy at sea. Hazel had her petty jealousy of a trainee getting close with Sawyer and her bratty arguments with her father.
I had the feeling that this was actually a needless sequel. The first film told a compelling story of how the center had rehabilitated a disabled dolphin, and told it well. But this one really had trouble prolonging the action to fit a respectable running time for a feature film. A lot of the content felt like filler.

Tail-less dolphin Winter is threatened with being relocated when her long term companion Panama dies and, given the patronage she attracts, this means that the future of the Florida sea life rescue and hospital centre where she lives is under threat.
This sequel to a 2011 family film features many returning cast members, and continues the gently dramatic story of the handicapped dolphin and the sea life centre where she lives. It is a pleasing film, if not especially surprising. I'm not particularly sentimental about animals, but there were a number of times when the film brought lumps to my throat. Returning director Charles Martin Smith cameos and also screenwrites. The performances serve the story well.
I might be inclined to criticise on the basis of fictionalising except that real-life footage over the credits shows that the key events actually happened, and pretty much as portrayed (however, the dolphins playing the part of Hope vary greatly in size). Cozi Zuehlsdorff as Hazel was delightful in the original. She performs well here, but the film captures her at an awkward age where she has left cute childhood behind, but hasn't yet arrived at confident adulthood: she doesn't seem entirely comfortable in her body. I hope there will be a Dolphin Tale 3 in a couple of years and we will see her entering adulthood more happily.

. . . can be subtitled SOUL DOLPHIN, for the cameo appearances of SOUL SURFER heroine Bethany Hamilton (among many reasons), can Winter-the-Dolphin's next outing HEAVEN IS FOR DOLPHINS be very far off? DOLPHIN TALE 2 makes it crystal clear that these bottle-nose flicks need to come out every couple years to underwrite the paint jobs that Clearwater, FL's corrosive sea air and U.S. animal regulations require. Hopefully, this next spray paint fund-raiser will be a little more upbeat than this "Winter of my discontent," to quote another perennial film headliner also stricken with scoliosis, RICHARD III. Parents of little ones and PETA types should be forewarned that DOLPHIN TALE 2 includes cannibalistic scenes of fairly large fish being EATEN ALIVE by even bigger "fish," as Morgan Freeman's Dr. McCarthy character would say. Perhaps these gastronomical horrors were actually filmed in Quebec, and the AHAD--which gave DT2 its Seal of Approval #04440--could not afford to send a rep way up there, thus missing the atrocities. So why did Alice Cooper catch so much flack for eating a bird on stage?

Enjoyable sequel that finds Winter the dolphin struggling with the death of her friend Panama. Meanwhile, Sawyer (Nathan Gamble) gets an offer to attend a special marine research program for three months but isn't sure he is ready to go. Like the first movie it's based on real events and the dolphins Winter and Hope appear here as themselves. The cast from the last one also returns, with reduced roles for Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, and Kris Kristofferson. But that's okay because the two kids (now young teens) and the dolphins are the stars. There's a budding romantic subplot with Sawyer and Hazel that is six kinds of cute. Also fun is the comic relief pelican that has a subplot involving a turtle. It's a nice, positive family movie with a likable cast and good message.

If you've seen the original "Dolphin Tale" and appreciated it, there's not much change here. What worked in the first film probably works here just the same for the most part. The characters are a bit older and mature, mostly the younger ones. Clay Haskett (Connick Jr.) The viewer doesn't really know how these problems are going to be solved but for the most part, at the end, people are probably going to be generally happy. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of inappropriate language and romance present in this PG movie. There was virtually none. Which is what I generally expect, but I am usually surprised what can be present in a PG movie these days. The montage at the end included real footage from the actual rescues present in the movie and clips from people with disabilities and artificial limbs at the sanctuary to interact with and see the dolphins. Pretty cool and inspiring. A good story, positive characters doing the right thing, and a decent ending = a pretty positive movie for kids and families.

It may not be good as the first. But still a great family movie. For the whole entire family to see.
Nathan Gamble as Sawyer, Ashley Judd as his mother, Harry Connick Jr as Dr Clay, and last but not least, Morgan Freeman as Dr Cameron are back.
Winter the Whale's tale we first were introduced to in the first movie, really is just beginning. When her surrogate mother dies being too old.
Rules state that a dolphin can't be alone due to their moods and if Winter is not paired up with another dolphin, she could be looking at another home along with Dr Clay facing other violations at his aquarium. Again the good animal doctor is facing a lot of stress and saving both the whale and his beloved aquarium.
While Sawyer is excepted a twelve-week school for very gifted students who love the ocean. Also to throw a winch in the movie, which is very rare.
But Sawyer's mind is not on that, more on Winter the Whale. But needs to make a decision and fast.
Great and sweet family movie. Not as great as the first but still, a sweet film for the family.
