It was a fun story, but all the overshooting attempts at flair and pizzazz, got stale and annoying real quick. It felt more cartoonish than a romantic thriller. I don't mind commentary in a film, but there were too many attempts at humor that failed, as it did with some of the dialogue. The entire "loves to fight and lose" concept was infantile and unnecessary. Diego Boneta's character was really annoying in most of the film. I think the novice filmmakers - especially the two writers, couldn't pick a theme and stick with it. Had the cartoons been absent, and the story's tone more serious - throughout, it may have been more enjoyable. The pacing felt slow with the many long dragged out scenes, that were more filler than substance, that the 92 min runtime felt much longer. Nevertheless, the casting and performances were good for the most part, especially Travis Fimmel, and the cinematography and score probably the best features.

Some people said it's a B- class movie, you were so wrong, this is a F- movie. I feel sad for the director, he might think all the dialogues are awesome cool, but instead they are totally garbages, Daddario's worst movie up to date.
200% sure it's a waste of time to watch even 10 mins of this crap.

I don't really agree with people that this movie is a 1/10. If you go into it knowing there's a lot of cheesy and sometimes pointless narration, and your willing to accept that and move past it, the acting and story are actually pretty good.
It really could have done without 100% of the narration, which accounts for the first 12.5 minutes of the film and might ruin the end for some.
I loved Alexandra D'addario in this. Travis Fimmel's character remind me a bit of Mickey from Snatch, which is one of my favorite movies. I didn't really connect with Diego Boneta's character, which seemed shallow and unrelatably cliche. I think Wade Allain-Marcus would've been a MUCH better casting choice for Ben Gibbon. Diego wasn't terrible, I just think he's a little too pretty for someone who's supposedly been in almost 750 fights. I'm not saying Wade looks rough, just that he looks like he could at least hold his own in a fight.
If they had removed much of the narration and tightened some of the cut scenes, I think this could've been a 7. It seemed from the preview like this was going to have a lot more action, but turned into more of a love story midway. That tracks with a lot of Romeo and Juliet retellings.
My wife thinks that, as a love story, they could have at least said why the two characters loved each other. I get the bonus that they're both "bad" or "rebels", but that reasoning edges on convenience more that plot.

No doubt the absolute dumbest worst movie ever made, childishly stupid.

That right there tells you what you need to know. If you don't like Ritchie's movies or Shakespeare's tragedies, then this probably isn't for you.
However, I do like both of those guys, so I really enjoyed this movie. The narration was just right to help move the story along and keep it a little lighter. I enjoyed the animated sequences for backstory.
I also really like the performances. The leads were great individually, and their chemistry really matched the lost love story of their characters. I think everyone played their parts right, and the script really supported them.
A much better adaptation of Romeo and Juliet than I've ever seen.

This film is interesting because it is quite different from the ordinary love film. It is hard to pin point what is good and what is bad about it, but it is just different.
