Spoiler I was expecting this to be a interesting Sci fi film. First time around I would give it a 6, and the second time around I would give the film a 4. It has a heavy social theme of government oppressing the youth, and the unwanted by using auto violations that keeps them in the drive inn. Then a anti-racism theme that is very over handed that start the ball rolling with the anti hero. The shoot out, and the car crashes, along with nudity tries to keep this one alive. In the end, violence, T & A, and a caring liberal social message usually equals bad science fiction. People watch Science Fiction to escape life, not face it. 5/10

(I'm French excuse my bad English) Dead end drive in is a very good film. Of course images and music seem old but the idea is universal. Do not accept the fatality, refuse the way somebody else want to show you and fight till death to have your liberty back. In a world of corruption and dishonesty be upright and do your best to feel free. This film is excellent, the message is sane and hopeful.

Australia makes some zany films in the 80s; from what I've seen they're often full of rebel punks who wear crazy things & go wild brawling. They're colourful & you can tell everyone is having fun making the film. This is one of those highly stylized films, full of painted up cars & 80s hair & clothes. It's grungy & hyper pigmented. There were scenes that I enjoyed the visuals for & the kick back to an 80s soundtrack, but the plot of a young teen or/20something? couple who get stranded at a drive-in that becomes a wasteland of cars is a bit of a limiting plot that literally doesn't go anywhere fast. I can see this being a cult classic for some, but aside from appreciating visual stills or clips, I'm personally not persuaded by it's particular taste of cheese.

I LOVE this flick!!!! I seen it as a late night movie - and I was mesmerized as soon as I started watching it. This is 80s at its finest hour. the eerieness is quite gratifying. Also if you see this rarity anywhere in the video stores - GRAB IT! Im having such a time finding this one on VHS because it hasnt yet come out on DVD (and probably will not) The basic story of the movieline - as entered by other viewers may make this flick sound stale and boring - but just imagine the context that the story actually forms. Believe me - it came on public TV at around 3 AM - and I HAD to see it. If you are an 80s fanatic - this is a sure hit. PEACE OO vv

Do you remember the 1980's? How about the original, music video only MTV? If so, then this could be a treat. If not, you might be in for a long night. DEAD END DRIVE-IN is sort of like watching all of those early-80's music videos smooshed together into one big glob. It's a satirical take on the end of civilization, with the titular establishment used as a prison / limbo for disaffected teens. It has its moments, but tends to drag on with plenty of static. THIS MOVIE CONTAINS: #1- Gangs of nefarious "punks" looking for trouble! #2- Mountains of tall, stiff hair! #3- Troweled-on makeup! #4- A gloriously bland "synth" soundtrack! Though dull in spots, this Aussie spectacular is just weird enough to hold one's interest...

Look at the plot of Dead End Drive-In you pretty much know what you got into is a 80s dystopian movie but to my surprise the movie actually far more deep and somehow go beyond than just a cheesy b-movie.The characters is your typical cliché rebel teenagers so the dialogue not that easy to hear(no offense to Aussie people btw) or interesting but what catch my eyes the most is the world around them and how it work is fascinating to me.It may come out a little bit boring to watch cause the majority of the runtime there nothing really happens so I only recommend this movie to hardcore b-movie fan

I really enjoyed Dead End Drive In. This is a sci-fi film with great looking sets, decent acting and an illogical story line. Put it all together and add a few explosions and you have a fantastic ride. The film tells the story of Crabs a young man who borrows his brother's car and goes to the drive in with a date. Then the government steals his tires and he is forced to live at the Drive In with about a hundred other teens who are also stuck there. It is never clearly explained WHY the government wants them to stay there (or even which government). Director Brian Trenchard-Smith makes the most of the story and pulls off some rather clever camera work. An aside from a racism subplot that is never really resolved, the story never drags. The sets are very extravagant and include some very funny touches (a poster for Rambo 8 hangs in one scene). Overall, the film is fun and is really good for anyone who likes futuristic, tongue in cheek sci-fi flicks.
