This is one of the very few movies I saw the last 10 years I could enjoy from first to last minute and I had never the feeling that I know what I can see the next minute. This was a pure fantasy fun ride. This movie kept the fun and joy from first to last minute High five is all I can say now

Summary (no spoilers) This movie is about an artist Dave who has not achieved any success in life ends up building a fort in his living room only to get trapped by the bizarre pitfalls, booby traps and a creature of his own creation. My Review (no spoilers) The plot of this movie was a complete disaster. It had a promising start but ended up really stupid seriously how this could be made into a movie. There was very little adventure, not so funny comedy and last but not the least no horror. None of the actors did a convincing job. If this was there plan of making a movie then they could have added one more genre to the movie called fantasy. The fort he built looked like a dump in his living room and he enters inside to find it like a mansion inside. It also had a predictable and boring ending to the movie. the movie should have been named as "Dave took a dump". My Recommendation No Stay Away while you can don't do the same mistake that I did. My Rating 0/10

I do like something a bit weird or strange sometimes so I was curious about this movie. I vowed that I would watch every second of every movie that I started watching and that even if it's bad. To be honest I had some difficulties with this one as Dave Made A Maze is probably one of the dumbest movies I ever saw. I didn't rate it the lowest possible because I'll give them a star for originality and creativity. But for the story itself the lowest rating possible is the only solution. The acting was just okay, nothing special here. I'm just wondering what kind of drugs the writer uses, something psychedellic probably.

I believe this was one of the best movies I have seen this year. Compared to those huge budget movies this one brought something new on the table and it tastes great!!!!. Firstly I really loved the idea, it was really original and unique . How the crew shoot the movie , how they scripted the story was great. Although acting was not of a professional level, you will still like the characters. Visual effects also makes you feel the story. Great job guys. I would love to see your other works.

This is a very strange movie and unlike anything I have ever watched before - the premise is simple, a hipster builds a maze out of cardboard in his front room that is bigger on the inside than the outside, he subsequently gets lost in said maze and his hipster friends try to rescue him. In all honesty, different doesn't always mean good and this is a perfect example - its pretty poor all round, I actually disliked several of the characters intensely and could care less about the rest, give it a miss or prepare to be bored ridged after 10 minutes or so.

This comedy-drama starts with a neat idea: Dave, a 30-year-old slacker (Nick Thune), builds a whimsical cardboard fort in his apartment. Inside the fort, however, lies a seemingly endless labyrinth which traps him, his girlfriend, and numerous other acquaintances. There are plenty of inventive visuals on display, but writer/director Bill Watterson - no relation to the "Calvin and Hobbes" cartoonist - and cowriter Steven Sears don't know where to take them. The film's MVPs are production designers Trisha Gum and John Sumner and art director Jeff White. What they and their team have accomplished, with what was surely a minuscule budget, is spectacular. Room after cardboard room, the sets amaze and delight. But Watterson's staging is uninspired and Jon Boal's cinematography looks cheap. Mostly, however, the script is to blame: the kernel of a good story is lost, like its characters, in a cardboard maze of unfunny gags and the occasional bit of psychobabble. (There's some symbolic blarney about how the maze represents Dave's creative inertia or something.) James Urbaniak, the poor man's Kyle MacLachlan, is always a welcome presence, though his meddling documentarian character grows tiresome. (Blame the script, not the actor.) Adam Busch is likewise game, but the weak material drags him down. The rest of the cast is unremarkable. I genuinely dislike criticizing a film that was clearly a labor of love for its creators, but Dave Made a Maze was so frustrating that I had to come here to lament its wasted potential. Bravo to the art department, though.

I had been looking forward to "Dave Made a Maze" since seeing its trailer. It looked like a quirky modern version of Cube and Labyrinth, two of my favorite films. It starts off decently enough. The plot and the maze itself are intriguing. I also liked some of its quirkiness and humor. Unfortunately, the film gradually unravels. The story, characters, and dialogue are underdeveloped. Despite only being 80 minutes long, by the third act I was patiently waiting for the film to end. For me, the climax and conclusion didn't come together in a compelling way. It is unfortunate, with a bit more development it could have been something of a cult classic or hidden gem.

10 out of 10 review those who gave it high ratings and especially the one who said it was the best film of 2017 What have you people been smoking it's terrible i would have rated it zero if it was an option i've seen a lot of bad movies this year i never leave reviews but this film deserves my time if it saves people from wasting theirs. Worst acting ever i only managed 15 minutes of the film and it left me feeling confused how this got released i'll never know in fact i might throw a film together when i get an hour spare can't be worse than this Rant over.

Dave, an artist who has yet to complete anything significant in his career, builds a fort in his living room out of pure frustration, only to wind up trapped by the fantastical pitfalls, booby traps, and critters of his own creation. If reviews could be so short, this is what I would say: "Everyone can stop making movies, and they can cancel the Academy Awards. 'Dave Made a Maze' is the film of the year, maybe even the decade. Mic drop." Seriously, rarely does a film capture the imagination quite like this. The artistic variety and beauty, the humor, the fun characters... and without any deep messages or R-rated nudity and cursing. This is a film that deserves a wide release and deserves to be lauded with awards. Perhaps this is not the sort of movie the Oscars typically singles out, but it should. (To those involved in the making of this film -- strongly consider submitting it for consideration. If you do not get a production / visual effects nomination, the world is a lie.) I also appreciated how the film had nods to other films, but did not make those homages blunt. A few "Star Wars" references come up, but are subtle enough that they may be missed. That is the proper way to honor a film rather than simply name-dropping it. So, again, well played. "Dave Made a Maze" screened March 26 at the Boston Underground Film Festival (BUFF). If there is any fairness in this world, it will son be screening at a theater near you and be given the wide release it deserves.

This screened at the International Horror and Sci Fi Film Festival portion of the Phoenix Film Festival in April. It was a completely sold out show, and as far as I know, everyone left raving about this film. I admit, reading the plot I was really reluctant to see this movie. I tend not to enjoy horror comedies and I had no idea how a living room cardboard fort was going to capture my attention. Within the first 5 minutes, I was proved completely wrong. This movie was not only hilarious, it was also one of the more creative movies I've ever seen. Don't watch the trailer, just go in and experience this movie and enjoy the ride. You will not regret it.
