I watched it for free and just was a waste of time. If you like watching a move where to guys wreck there plane and out floating in water for 3/4 of the move, then your love this junk of a movie.

Sorry but this move is one of the most boring film I have seen in a long time
I read the reviews which was a mixed bag so I gave it a go. It was so slow and a embarrassment towards the lads who lived through the actual event.
not for me I'm afraid.......

Bad CGI for the most part. Boring 95% of the time. Horrible acting by everyone involved. Plus, obvious shills in the reviews are laughable.
BTW, altlamp, this isn't about your father if he lived and he sure as hell didn't lead the squadron. Ramsay was an ensign. Ensigns don't lead a latrine party much less a dive bombing squadron. Richard Best led VB-6 at Midway. You dishonor him with your lies.

I was very pleasantly surprised with what appears to be a movie with a limited budget given its high usage of CGI albeit of high quality for 3 reasons. Firstly because of the filmmakers ' attention to detail historical accuracy in terms of military hardware features such as the U.S.S Enterprise, and aircraft such as the PBYs, A6M Zeros and of course the Douglas SBD Dauntless dive-bomber, which has to be the main star and namesake of the movie. Secondly, the exciting air combat scenes that would give any big-budget Hollywood flick (such as Pearl Harbor or even Red Tails) a run for their money. Thirdly, whilst the acting is not exactly top-notch but I felt the actors were fairly decent especially when backed up by the likes of familiar names and perennial favorites of the '80s like Judd Nelson and Thomas C Howell. This, together with a fairly well-thought out script that given its limited budget was intelligently framed tightly within the stories of two air crews interspersed with scenes of historical figures such as Admiral Fletcher to provide the overarching historical overview to viewers some education of this pivotal battle that changed the course of the Pacific war during WWII. The only gripe I have of the movie were the scenes of the pilots adrift at sea which may seem quite draggy at times. All in all, a very good effort and pleasant surprise for a limited budget movie given the low-profile or nearly Non-existent promotional campaign ahead of its release. It also kind of serves as a pretty good presursor to the highly anticipated Roland Emmerlich blockbuster, "Midway", which is due to be released later this year in November.

I so wanted to give this Midway a positive review but unfortunately, it sucked! The battle was Ill defined and unsatisfying throughout. The personal stories were plagued by poor dialogue and unending in their and my torture. The movie suffered for trying to focus on both storylines without doing justice to either. I am heartedly disappointed.

Making a good warmovie shouldnt be that hard to make, but the managment of this film really felt the hardships of making one. i shall admit that i fell asleep each time the film focuses on the two pilots drifting the ocean due to lifejackets, trying to keep up moral, and waiting to get help, and getting abrupt awake by airplane rumbling in the next sequence. my question is, why midway, and where are midway, is it in the mid-del or in between. i know the pacific war history and know very well what happened in midway, but does the director and producers???
the acting are terrible at all levels and what saves the glory and a two star from me were some of the flight cgi's that at moments nearly sucked the air out of me, but it all crashes down to negative -g as soon as the actors opens their mouth, and here the green or blue or whatever screen in the studio are nearly visible. it is alike watching kirk douglas with his dollar grin bombing japs in a good ol 1942 war movie, its just so primitive and dumb and nevertheless , so the grumpy old man goes for dumbless the dazzle on fraudway, and its not a recommend unless you enjoy some flightsimulator video game stuff

Are you reading this because you wanted to see Midway? Well this is another movie, and I just wasted an hour on it and even the beer didn't make it any better.
It's just horrible: bad CGI, bad acting, I didn't learn anything about the battle of Midway. I wish I could just see a 15 minute documentary about the battle and the 2 guys stranded at sea and whatever happened to them.
Other reviews say the depiction of the ships and planes was historically accurate, so I'll give it +3 stars for the CGI and battle scenes, +2 for the story, -3 for making me accidentally see it instead of Midway, and +1 star for helping me forget my problems and feel very sorry for everyone involved in this fiasco.

A good war movie reminds us of a period in time where good men paid the ultimate sacrifice and this movie follows suit. The trials and tribulations the characters face in this movie provides a unique perspective on a well known battle in WWII history. The drama is intense, the action scenes left me breathless and the insights on command decision making is intriguing. If you like war movies that leave you soul struck then you'll like this one.

While I enjoy a good war drama, I found this to be one big snooze fest. A watch once then forget about movie sorry.
