Two young teens growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1990's, Amber is a young girl who fancies girls who knows her sexuality, she just isn't ready to come out as a lesbian just yet, so she decides to date Eddie a boy who's knows he's gay and is going through the same dilemmas has she is so they decide to help each other out one Day.
They come up with an elaborate plan to get through the stresses of high school by pretending to date each other to hopefully stop them getting abused for being gay has they have been experiencing it recently in school so they basically pretend they are not gay.
I thought that would create a variety of funny moments but it just didn't deliver any, and to be honest the film wasnt trying to make jokes after the first twenty minutes, I just probly misunderstood the trailer, and as such the film was a worthy try at the subject matter of growing up gay.
I thought this might be a cross between the Inbetweeners and the Derry girls when I first saw the advert, but that's why I was a little disappointed because in no way was it anything like those two comedy shows. Also this kind of story has also been done before, so it was not really a original concept,I certainly couldn't fault the acting from the two young lead actors and they will go on to better things in time. I would just wait for it to come on to tv and save your money or watch it on amazon prime video as its one of their original productions and of course it will find its market and the audience its aimed at and they will be more than happy with it.

I'm not sure why people give a summary of the movie when they review, because it's at the top of the page. So I never do and won't here. This movie started with promise, with a cute female lead and a rather dull and passive male lead. But they were believable and played will off of each other. There were cute genuine moments of moving tenderness and good humor, with a few lovely countryside shots to add flavor and dimension. The parents of both were written and played well and not in the usual cliche manner, and the sappy moments were brief and I managed to overook them and enjoy the film. Sadly after a scene in a Dublin bar and plot falls apart, the dialogue takes a bad fall and the feel of the movie shifts into the mundane. The "woke" nonsense of course appears, as they BOTH end up with a person of different race as a love interest at the aforementioned bar. Big eye roll. The male lead spends the rest of the movie acting like a spoiled fool in denial. One can only watch someone stare into the distance for so long, plus he treats people like crap. The female lead remains constant throughout, and I will seek out other roles she has played with great interest. She conveys strengh and confidence and was a delight to behold on screen. The supporting cast is mainly forgettable but served their purpose I suppose.

In the year of the lord 1995 in catholic ireland is the subject for this rainbow colored a little bit of lgbtq'ish irish flick. its a pfretty original story, with nice acting for the front actors, a great variation in the musical score, and i'm sure it reflects some way of how it was or is to be gay or lesbian in ireland
its a film about the popularistic genderication subject thats been in the wind the past 20 years, not much new, but still something to chew on. i myself considering myself heterofile and straight but old fashion minded have had to open up for this new wave of being, taking special care when asking a niese or nephew if they have a boy or girlfriend, using the phrase ''partner'' just to avoid eventual blasphemia against the new teenage thinking free spiritual genderismic tendencies. i dont mind them , just feel a little bit relieved that i didnt have to make such deep considerations that has to be made by young people today.
so have a look for yourself, its a good and wellmeant story, so the grumpy old man gives his recommend

The movie shows that the gay girl is obviously damaged because her father committed suicide for no reason. The guy is struggling if he's gay or not. The movie shows us that the people around him are pointing him in that direction. For me it resemble the lgtbxyz² agenda push in our time (the movie is set in 1995), pushing youth astray.
The guy tries gay stuff, but rejects it the second a guy comes close. On the contrary, he falls heavilly in love with the girl, but the girl rejects and decides to go with another girl, the first gay girl that came by. So, she chooses to go the lesbian way, all the way.
The guy is completely in love with her and in pain he decides to leave and join the army. Just when he was to step in the bus, the gay girl calls him and give him all the money she had saved, to make him declare himself gay!!! No joke!!!
