Moviecut—Darken

No pun intended - the Darken is quite good looking. If you like the digital way of how movies can look like. The actors are doing a decent job too. You have to have a heart and like low budget movies. This may play mostly inside a building, but it seems quite complex in its (his)story. That being said, you can also call it convoluted of course. I am not doing that, but I understand that some may have issues with the story in and of itself. Not to mention the plausibility of a building existing of that nature. And if you think it is over .. there is a bit of a teaser for a sequel - or whatever they may come up with. There is a richer world behind this for sure. Question is if you care for that or not.

There were things to like about this film, but the film itself had it's issues. The story was an interesting idea, but I don't think it went to its full potential. I can honestly see why other reviewers want it remade, because it was a really interesting concept. But it just doesn't quite deliver. The Sci-fi element to the story was cool, but they definitely could have switched up the horror factor. I actually really liked the ending too, but it's getting to that point before you switch off, because it does have pacing issues which leads to really dull patches of the film. The end scene is honestly so pretty that that's where it looked like most of the budget went.

Let's make a movie! What will it be about? Let's make it up as we go! No! No! Mutha will be displeased! Bwah ha ha haaaaaa..... Nice costumes. Fairly nice set. Everything else stupid. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site; which as some nice stuff, and some absolute trash. Who makes this stuff, and why?

This film is...Terrible! Did I mention the word terrible, well lets see - A totally non-sensical story, a single set that looks like a warehouse in some abandoned lot in Detroit, acting of the worst level of student 1st year am-dram, inappropriate sound effects and mixing and well its a bit boring too. Looks like they spent most of the budget in the last 5 minutes too; if they had the budget to keep that level of scifi going it might have worked out but sorry guys its pants! In short, one of those movies you start to watch and within the first 1 minute you know its going to be a complete howler monkey!

Don't heed the low-rater haters on this one! This is a gem of a find among indie films and it's WELL worth your time! Unlike so many films that cram the details of a storyline down your throat like you're a moron (M. Night Shyamalan, I'm looking at you), this story let's you think for yourself. You won't get every detail handed to you, but that adds to the sense of mystique in the plot. What is Darken? Who is Mother Darken? What has become of her? Where does the outside go? This is a film well-done. Solid cast. Fluid dialog. An intriguing ending. They could have run this one as a pilot for an outstanding series that I would probably binge watch. Pop some corm. Prop your feet. Watch. You won't regret it!

I would appreciate this movie remade. With no science fiction elements. And much more horror and mystery. The story itself is fascinating and could have been a very realistic film if it were not for the complete and total corniness of the science fiction elements. As well as some corny and overdramatic acting and character choices. Still, the movie is decent. And the science fiction, at best, gives the movie an interesting dimension.

This is a scarier then A Nightmare on elm street or Silence of the lambs. It has great acting. It also has a great story line. It a very scary movie. This is one of the scariest movies ever.
