As a young veteran I can say that this movie is as close as any film you will see in terms of its accurate portrayal of real tactics and action scenes. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole way and it goes to show that Australians can make outstanding war films. It is not a glorification of war nor an exaggeration of the Australian heroics but instead shows that they hung in there and barely survived the whole ordeal. This film holds its own against any war movie ever made.

I read many of the reviews rated 5 and below and I arguably disagree. I had to give it a 10 because by the end of the film, I was totally engrossed in their mission and felt like I was a part of the story. I wasn't just a person watching a film, it felt like I was there. I was blown away by the cinematography. I felt every shot....every bomb drop.....the fear, the pounding heartbeat of these men. The screenwriters did an outstanding job of summarizing the lead characters backstory and incorporating it into the movie. There was no one hero...they were all heroes. I had never heard of this story and am glad that someone took the time to make this film and that I took the time to watch.

Not sure why this movie is rated so high by some viewers. Maybe all Auzzies joined forces to up the score? Who knows...
Anyhow, the movie is a decent Vietnam war movie with a twist, looking into the issue with Australian eyes. Yet I was excepting some deep, conflicting discussions among the soldiers and top-brass to dissect the issue of "what the hell are we doing here, fighting the American's war?" but it was never explored.
Some good aspects: The locations and set pieces were nice. The acting is above average. It is always good to see Ragnar in a crazy person role. Unique Auzzie weapons was a nice touch.
To compensate all that, some bad points: The story is unnecessary convoluted. You don't follow-up what happens where and why and who is in danger now. Pacing is also off. Dialogues are cheesy most of the time, especially between the two main characters. This movie could have been much better if the screenplay was written by a more competent writer. Such a missed opportunity.

Well sometimes i feel guilty if i did not review these kind of movies. I want to say that i respect both sides and hope that they are all rest in peace. The movie side; acting is mediocre the story is good but the narration is not. The most repellent part of the movie is Vietnamese side acts like NPC in computer games. Let me clarify it : There is no soul in them, they only atack in waves and die, it seems like no warfare tactics included, and also we cant manage to saw any high rank Vietnamese. Second i think that the movie seems like a low budget Tv movie. There are huge gaps. In general it was a waste of time for me, and that is why i write this review.
