This is a new mystery series on Hallmark is which a hair cutter, Ali, at her salon seems to be the best detective the town has. She is a widow who lost her husband in the line of duty. The current Sheriff Tom takes advantage of Ali's knowledge and observation skills to help him solve local crimes...of which there are not a lot. In comes a new out of town detective and a murder at the local beauty pageant. The head of the pageant, the murder victim, has a lot of enemies. But it is a real shock to discover Ali's sister being treated as a suspect...this makes it personal! I liked the two leads and I think they have potential for chemistry. I am a little concerned about what they will do going forward a hair salon fits in well with a beauty pageant, but beyond solving her husbands murder how will they tie in a hair salon? I liked the cast and this mystery worked well. I will tune in for the next one to see how it goes. At this point it doesn't come close to my three favorites Hannah Swensen's Murder she Baked, Aurora Teagarden mysteries and Mystery 101.

I'd like to start by saying that I thought the actors did a good job, and their banter was good and it was funny, but my low rating is for 2 very big things. First, no one, and I repeat no one would gather evidence and allow it to be used in a court of law without extenuating circumstances. A defense attorney would have a field day. Allie's interrogation of suspects I can go along with because she supposedly understands procedure and what to ask, but evidence is pushing it. The thing here is in the writing. You need to write accurately so that I can move along with the story and not need to stop and think they shouldn't be doing that. Hallmark has spoiled us with other great mysteries so we are learning what is okay and what isn't. Next, and this is a biggie for me... the girl is a hairdresser then she should know how to give a haircut. I am a stylist/hairdresser and while dry cuts are okay, I detest them on thicker hair. She barely snips three or four times and miraculously announces them done. I cringed so badly at those scenes, my daughter had to pry my fingers from my chair. In other mystery movies (with the exception of the flower shop mysteries which I did love, but hate that Brooke Shields can't make a decent arrangement so it falls to her partner), the people have been able to convince me that they know something about what they make a living at. So even with the cliche cliffhanger (I am also a writer with 2 YA mysteries published), I probably will not waste another 2 hours on these movies. I know gave this movie high scores and I applaud them because they enjoyed their selves... I just did not enjoy this one. I will stick with mystery 101. Hallmark, get those actors back in the studio for a new one please.

Those that called this a snooze fest ... I'm not sure what you were watching. This one kept us guessing to the end. Love Julie Gonzalo and Ryan McPartlin aka Captain Awesome. 😊 Yeah it's not true to life but come on this is Hallmark, it's for entertainment not factual real life. We found it entertaining! Loved how the characters progressed from disliking each other to mutual respect to maybe a spark to the cliffhanger ending. All we can say is MORE please!!

MARVELOUS. Eagerly looking forward for more movies. It partly reminds me of HAILEY DEAN MYSTERIES. Thanks HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES for this new movie series.

So where do I start. Let's start with the few positives. First, I thought the acting was actually not bad. I don't understand some of the reviews that said the acting was terrible. The actors did a good job making the emotions and personalities of the characters believable. I have seen terrible acting (looking at you Keanu Reeves), and this wasn't that. Second, the storyline surrounding the murder itself wasn't bad either. The twist that the killer made a mistake in who was murdered was unique. Third, and the reason I will watch the next episode is the cliffhanger. And this is the ONLY reason why I will continue watching...until that cliffhanger is resolved. So on to the negatives. And honestly, these left such a horrible taste in my mouth that this was my least favorite hallmark mystery show so far. First, the storyline is terrible from a believability factor. Why on earth is the chief of police asking the relative of a suspect who had her fingerprints on the murder weapon to help investigate? I don't care if he believes the suspect didn't do it. That's irrelevant. If I'm the mayor and I find out the chief is letting in a relative of a suspect investigate, I'm firing him. Second, and the worst thing of the entire show, is the lead character and "hero" of the story. It wasn't the acting of the actor, it was the character she was playing. Her character was, to put it bluntly, arrogant, unintelligent, and incredibly nasty. First, she shows up and insults the detective stating "where did you get your badge from... a happy meal?" after insisting he believe her that her sister didn't do it. Seriously? So a detective is just supposed to believe a relative of a suspect and take her at her word? Honestly, if a detective did take her at word without investigating, then he would have gotten his badge from a happy meal. He was just doing his job and she decides to treat him like garbage for it? Unacceptable. I understand her being mad that her sister is a suspect, but how she treated him is taking it way to far. Then she blackmails the chief of police unless he gives her information on the case? Then she steals information from the chief of police's computer? Then she proceeds to go to a random run down building by herself without calling for backup? Nothing about her was admirable and I came away from this thinking "I can't stand her." Third, the writers intended to justify her awful behavior by having the detective not only attempting to convince her that he was a good person (as if he committed some horrible sin by not believing every word she said) but then saying he should have trusted her at the end of the episode. No he shouldn't have! That's not what good detectives do. They investigate and question everything! This murder series was trash and if it wasn't for the cliffhanger I wouldn't watch another episode.

Overall poor plot and very poor acting. I've seen the lead actress in other shows and she was okay but in this, she was a big letdown along with the rest of the cast. Sheriff and detective were the most believable and realistic characters of the show.

I love Hallmark movies, but this one was trash. Poor writing, poor acting, characters that were not memorable and a terrible plot. A hairdresser that is smarter than cops who were idiots is completely ridiculous. I could go on and on and I watched the whole thing in hopes it would get better and it only got worse. Please do not waste your time or effort.
