I need to complain. Film makers need to learn this lesson once and for all. Making a really sad story is not the same thing as making a great story. This happens every year. A film comes out which is mediocre at best, but, the content is tragic enough that it gets showered with awards anyway. It could be a film about the Holocaust or slavery. That seems to be all you really need to do. Choose a dark topic and show lots of terrible things happening for two hours until the movie just sort of ends. This is not a good movie. It is actually the worst I have seen in years. Alt Right is in fashion right now. So they just created the most pathetic character they possibly could and occasionally made him say a few buzzwords like cuck or red pill. I won't give spoilers, but, you can basically figure out the entire plot from watching the trailer. I really resent anyone who thinks this is at all clever. This was extremely lazy story telling. It has no depth or substance. It is just empty trash. There is nothing to learn or think about. I can't really continue this review without getting angry. This is a terrible movie. If you want to watch it then that is on you. If you are looking for something similar that is actually good then watch American History X or The Believer. May god have mercy on their souls.

'Cuck' (2019) tries to illustrate a captivating story about a man's fall from grace into a lonely life, it instead illustrates a lack of directorial direction with its god awful set pieces and imagery. As well as a story that's synopsis is easy to understand, the actual story is nonsensical. I felt sick after just 30 minutes of the floating camera work! Rubbish!

I have watched thousand of movies and rated hundreds, but never made a review. This a good movie - good story, good acting, good production values and cinematography, etc. I have enjoyed it. It is different, a well made story that have not seen before. This is what I look for in a good movie. Not another made by numbers 'blockbuster' with hollywood stars. The reason I have written this review is the rating of this movie. I have been duped by fake ratings and reviews into watching some bad movies. We all spevd money at cinema to watch well advertised and reviewed garbage. Rating of 2.5 for this movie is unjust. I can only guess it is because of politics. I am not saying that I admire the protagonist of the movie or condone his behaviour. I am saying that this a well made movie with original story.

I went into this one assuming that because of the title and the subject matter, it was going to be an indictment of the alt-right and incels, and random shooters, whoever else has been terrorizing society for many years. And let's be clear, it IS that, but more. This film is not leftist propaganda; it's a character study of one man in a subset of a subset of a subset of the alt-right. No, they're not all like this, but there are a few rare ones that are, and this film captures that, and captures it well. I won't go after the other 1-star reviewers here who rated the film and then actually wrote a review of it without, obviously, having seen it. If they had seen it, they might not have left the ratings and reviews they have. That's my only quibble with them. We need to stop judging books by their covers (or movies by their synopsis and/or title), and maybe that's the message of this film. In a broader sense, living in this society now is exhausting. People are angry. People are fearful of those not like themselves. People are tired. That's all in this film too. Yes, the Ronnie character IS over-the-top, and he's meant to be. The only thing, it seems, that people pay attention to these days, is the extreme of the extreme, and that's the point. I didn't expect it, but this movie's going to stay with me awhile. Give it a watch.

I had mixed feelings about this film--it's well-made and has some important things on its mind, but also just tries to cram too many talking-points in, to the end result that the storytelling is only semi-plausible. It would have been better as a shorter film without quite SO many curveballs thrown the protagonist's way. He doesn't need to embody every characteristic that someone like him MIGHT have, or every obstacle he might experience. But I was driven to review mostly by the ridiculous number of obvious trolls here voting the lowest they can while obviously not having seen the film. Are alt-right types so scared of unflattering fictional depictions that they need to pile on public forums like this just to frantically discourage other people from seeing those depictions? Well of course they are. How pathetic. I mean, at least you people might have done your homework and read a few reviews so you could more convincingly pretend to have actually seen "Cuck" and had some real basis for criticizing its content. But then, you folk aren't exactly renowned for being very bright. You're as obvious as Scientologists posing as indignant Average Joes to scream bloody murder at any Scientology expose. All you do is underline the film's depiction of alt-right incel types as whiny, paranoid mom's-basement dwellers who are obsessed with "masculinity" yet have the tantrum-prone emotions of 5-year-olds. You know what actual grownups are self-confident enough NOT to do? "Review" films they haven't seen, because they're afraid others might see that film and learn it's a little too accurate a portrait.

It's been a while since I've seen a horror movie that made it hard for me to sleep... this is one of them. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I saw a screener. Every visually-stunning scene is seared into my brain ... don't miss this. Also, excellent music.

This is a response to jondavis-98630's review. You only need to watch the news about the mass shooting, vocal racism from bloggers, radio and television host from the Right wing media and read the tweets by the 45. The message in this movie blames the Left, minorities and women for the poor and middle class White male downfall. Which is what the Republicans, Conservatives and Fox News are announcing in real life. By repeating their message of hate over and over again until their base believes it and takes deadly action. There is no "far left propaganda..." in this movie. It reveals the truth. Which is hard to watch.

This film is a lightning rod of a movie. Your political stripe should not keep you from seeing it. The protagonist is someone that many (even progressives) can relate to, and is a study in how one can be pulled into any direction if the circumstances line up. How many of us have had our cars run into the ground simply because we cannot afford the proper repairs, making buying a new one a pipe dream? A steady diet of the internet can warp impressionable minds, and Ronny sure needed some guidance in controlling his anger, but was lauded by the subscribers and viewers of his material. This was his domain, and he was king. ...for a while, anyway. I kept thinking that, had he met one person that could steer him in the right direction, he might have had a better life, but there was nobody real in his life. Most will see where this film is going, but the tension is palpable, and the third act does not disappoint. For those of you calling him an incel, he fits the profile, but technically that title does not apply to him. I empathized with his problems and anger at things we cannot control, but his overt racism made it harder to embrace him in full. We all have problems, and our country is very divided at the moment, so it was refreshing to see our modern problems represented in film. I did not come away thinking all conservatives are Ronny, but if you keep up with current events, we know that Ronny's story is not an unbelievable one. It will be an eye opening look at what is happening in a country where full time jobs are scarce, and we have been getting less and less for more money. Most folks haven't seen a raise in twenty years or more. Things are tough all over, but to blame your problems on entire races and religions is just a gigantic cop out, That bootstrap nonsense doesn't apply, when real jobs just do not exist for people without any real skill set, and Ronny had no discernible skills, and may have been suffering from the Dunning Krueger effect. Anyway, this is one of those films that you can talk about for longer than the run time of the movie, and in any cinephile's book, that is a win. Not unlike gangsta rap, this movie gives perspective to the life of a movement, and a system that can be tough to navigate. Bottom line: Ronny made some bad, bad choices, so what happens is on him. Not the alt-right, not the libs. It was always ever only on him.

From the director of Los Ninos Sicarios (Short) comes another gritty chilling depiction of a dark side of life in America. Zachary Ray Sherman's depiction of the alt-right bitterly angry Ronnie is impactful alongside Sally Kirkman's role as his controlling and conniving mother. This is a powerful film especially in our current climate of hate that is infecting America.
