Ok... movies like this just really piss me off! Here we have this guy inventing some new way to communicate with the galaxy, he's obviously smart enough that he has funding (which he's about to lose) and 3 times now he picks up comm and noises and the other 2 guys in the car have to ask him if he's RECORDING what he's hearing?! Seriously WTF? Movie starts off by him scanning radio frequencies and he hears music on one that he doesn't hesitate to record but the noises that he's up every night listening for... he has TO BE TOLD TO START RECORDING! Then he loses all the recorded data and has no back up drive of any sort? What kind of idiot "scientist" is this guy? He's supposedly smart enough to develop this whole system but the Basic 101 of this stuff slips his mind? Now this is just foolish and all the reason I need to quit watching!
Like 20 other reviewers have already mentioned... so they're losing power and about to lose all the saved data they collected from their first contact and decide to go running through the woods to go collect the gear!? What they have would be worth a fortune! Screw the stupid tripod antennas! They're acting like they're on another planet and won't be able to go back and retrieve their gear. Complete morons! They had 18 mins and wasted 5 minutes scrambling around not doing a damn thing! This was just irritating to watch and ruined the movie...
Now for the cheesy music and all the awkward longing stares between these men on numerous occasions... not sure what that was all about? Kept waiting for them to f'n kiss each other! Just weird. Could've done without all the close ups of Mike's big face!
This could've been a pretty good movie...

Who watches a slow boil sci-fi about radio signals?
Well, I'm putting money down on it being geeks.
So why do they treat their audience like absolute idiots? What is with the overblown emotional nonsense shoehorned in? Who wrote the amazing but utterly misplaced score?
There were huge sections where we had to wait for ages and the musical tension built over something really dumb. The resolutions were dumb. The audience is going to recognise the stupidity of it all.
it was OKish, I guess, but needed to treat its audience with more respect.

One of the best about this kind of subject, about first contact and i've seen a lot of movies about it ,most not half so good as this indie!Well done i really enjoyed it.

I feel there's been some overly harsh reviews for an indie movie that's a great first from the Weaver brothers.
Although you could argue it's slow at times, the story is clearly all about the characters and people. They have nailed the 80s theme and the film is clearly well made albeit on a low budget, and for that, those involved clearly deserve a great deal of credit.
Well worth a watch, enjoy!

The movie was doing so well (by todays low movie standards) and then they had to pull the stunt with the battery power. Really, how is the viewer supposed to forgive the fact that 3 semi intelligent astrophysicists risked everything because none of them understood that they could get power from the car battery. Every person in the world knows this, so why was this stupidity scripted into the movie. It completely destroyed the credibility of the characters. Also it was unnecessary to use a Linksys WIFI card to store data on, when they could of just used a real hard drive. I still gave it 5 stars because it was ok until the battery incident, which is near the end of the movie.

What a treat of a movie! Excellent acting from actors I've never heard of. Would love to see them again.
Writing, directing, producing and story: outstanding!
Score, perfectly fitted.
Starts slow but worth sticking with it for an excellent movie.

This film is over 2 hours long and it feels like more. There is a lot of dialogue attempting to give backstories to the characters but it gets boring and tedious. I know astronomy is never going to make an all action movie and they do try to generate some tension but it ultimately fall flat. 4 stars . You will need the fast forward button.

The first 90 minutes is just people talking in a car, this is the watchable part, what they are talking about is actually quite interesting. This is then followed by 20 minutes of people running around a forest with absurdly dramtic music accompanying entirely bland activities, and then 10 minutes of driving a car fast to plug in a laptop before the battery goes. My favourite bit is where they pull up 500m from where they are going, and then run the rest of the way for absolutely no reason other than to have some people running to more dramatic music.
That's it. The whole movie.

What an exciting movie; I did not want it to end!
Three guys ( Astro-physicists/Engineer's) hang out with their satellites & technology to finally hear something strange (not just static). One of them reply's & after a while he gets a response! From then on its a race to prove the connection was real & the excitement begins... 👽
This was excellent & I wish it continued to be a series!!
