The reason why me and my buddy decided to watch this movie is because it had a decent rating. It has a good rating simply because it's based on a true story... If this was just a movie without a true story behind it you would definitely rate it a 1, 2 at most, because you felt sorry for the girl actress. Poor acting and even worse directing leaves this movie to a very painful 90minutes. Why didn't we turn it off? because we were just too fascinated about the twist in the story and since we were constantly laughing about how ridiculous the dialogues were put together. If the movie would have done a better job in general it could have been a new mild "Irréversible"

This is a Dumb F*****g movie, Anyone with a common sense would realize its just another idiot that doesn't have a life on the other end of the line. If anyone is so gullible to fall for this and actually make someone take off their cloths just because some random ass person on the phone says so, should be put to jail for even cooperating. I wish I could have rated this movie no stars but I had to click on 1 and this one star that I rated should be shoved up the callers ass that Sick minded p***y. Also the fiancé that spanked her and had her do oral sex on him is sick. if I were him I would put a bullet in my head for even thinking that he was doing the right thing. At the end of the movie the manager just blew it off and smiled... that blew my mind and made me want to slap and punch her straight to her yellow teeth. Overall I hated this movie and would not recommend it to anyone. In fact I would burn the original and all the copies so nobody has to see this s****y movie. The End.

I lasted less than halfway through this thing. HOW can people be such idiots? For DECADES, we have had television police procedurals. Common sense should have prevented ANY of this from happening, My walk-away? "GOD, these people vote!"

That movie was dead on for a case that occurred in Kentucky. It also happened to me. I was a college kid working for guess who and had idiotic managers and co workers. I was the only honor graduate. I was certainly the only college student employed at that location. It was an easy job and the people were always nice. I actually enjoyed this job. Then one day all hell broke lose. I still cannot believe what happened to me, I cannot believe my friends were so stupid as to believe that our constitution allowed this. I cannot believe that they did stuff to me except that they were perverts and stupid. Why was this not BIG news? Because this BIG corporation has all the money and power to keep it low profile. They continued trying to pass the buck or blame to others. The problem was that this had been happening a lot and they didn't warn anyone. If they had, none of it would have happened to me. I won a law suit, but haven't seen a cent. Basically, I was told to drop it or they would cost me more in legal fees than I would ever see.

As hard as it will be to believe, this film is very closely based on a real event. A man saying he is a police officer calls a fast food restaurant and gets one of the cashiers brought into the back room by her manager. She is accused of theft and the officer needs the manager to hold her in the room until he can get there. He also needs her to check her purse. And take her phone. And search her pockets. The manager complies and one step at a time things get terribly worse for everyone. This film had potential. The title suggests that we are looking at the idea of compliance with authority figures and, in order to do that, we will use a real situation to investigation why this occurs. Sadly the film doesn't do any of this and instead simply plays out the real incident without much intelligent to say about it other than telling us it happened. There isn't even discussion after the fact because the ending is spent tying up the mystery (such as it is) in a way that doesn't satisfy and seems tacked on. This lack of insight or commentary is a problem but we are still left with a recreation of sorts – and this is at least delivered with a bit of a sense of tension at first. I say at first not because it flops in the second half but because for it this was replaced by something else – a feeling of the film putting me in the same place as the prank caller, and not in a meaningful way. The film pushes the sexual material on us in a way it didn't need to. The lead girl is not plain, but blonde with a great figure and the camera doesn't shame away from letting us see it. Nor does it let her break down as the detective reviewing the video at the end of the film tells us she did (crying and begging), instead it keeps her together so that the viewer doesn't feel pushed away by her raw and shredded emotions. It is a very odd series of decisions and I would like to think they were not deliberate but it is difficult when they line up so effectively. The cast mostly do not explore their situations or reasons and, although they follow events, none of them really gave me much beyond what was on the page. The film does deliver the real events pretty straight but I wondered why it didn't seem to add much to them. There is nothing really in the way of insight or commentary here – the plot plays out and then ends. While doing it though, the film also seems to enjoy the nudity and the sexuality of the lead actress and prevents her from breaking down while also giving her breasts and body plenty of direct line of sight. The film already felt empty and like a missed opportunity – but this just added tawdry to the list.

A movie about the McDonald's prank call incident in which an employee was strip-searched and sexually assaulted because the manager was told to do so by an authoritative voice over the phone. As far as I can tell, the movie was based on fact. As unbelievable as it seems, this news report verifies the most outlandish scenes in the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqUm-Zk3_Ws The film has been praised by David Denby at the New Yorker and hailed by many others as an important look at human gullibility and obedience to authority. My thoughts: 1. The film-maker and his defenders counter criticism of the movie by insisting "this really happened!", and then go on to cite the film as an expose of how gullible we all are. Unfortunately, the film never really convinces me that anyone but a really stupid person would do the things portrayed in the film. It fails to make a believable case that this could happen to people of normal intelligence. This is a major failure on the part of the film-maker. Yes, stupid people do stupid things. Anyone concerned about real human obeisance to authority won't find any important psychological insights here. 2. The movie and it's defenders want to pretend that the movie has taken moral high ground, whereas my feeling was that it was creepily voyeuristic. Of course, an authoritative New Yorker film critic says it's a good movie... so who are you going to believe?

They say this has happened over 70 times, I believe it. There are extremely stupid people in this world, some work at fast food joints and others are right beside you, at your work, as you walk down the street, and even (as the proof shows) writing reviews saying this movie is "chilling and true". Read all the reviews, and you will see some extremely stupid peoples thoughts on this subject. When they say "many of us might do the same thing", they are saying they have the IQ of a turnip. This might be a good comedy, right alongside "America's Stupidest Criminals" you could have "America's Stupidest Idiots" and it has nothing to do with where they work. The movie was not presented as a comedy so it failed miserably. The movie goes terribly off-track into unbelievable when it shows so many people being so stupid. There are many idiots, but there is always 1 person in a crowd with an IQ in the double digits. That is all it would take for this to be over. That is why so many people couldn't sit through the entire stupid thing. The acting was OK, the writing (as I said) would have been OK for a comedy, but stupid as a drama. The attempt to make this movie as a chilling drama is, yes, chilling and terrifying. The proof of how many stupid people there are in this world, is right there in the reviews, by those who thought this was a good movie. Just my opinion.

Let me just say that I wasn't expecting what I saw! After the first 10 minutes, my mouth was opened throughout the entire movie! My first thought was "How in the hell do they know that he is a cop?" and the second question that I kept asking myself was "Why not just say no to the cop?" We all know that cops aren't perfect and some have some sick and unethical behaviors and although we fear them to a point, we gotta use common sense when it comes to ethical situations like this. I was amazed that this movie was based on true events. I had never heard anything about this in the news. Although the plot was simple and the characters were mostly restricted to the back room of a fast food restaurant, this movie was worthy of hitting the theaters due to the content and nature of it. Everyone needs to see this movie. I loved it!

Thing I can say about this movie is that it seriously angered me while I was watching but not for any of the right reasons though. Watching stupid people doing stupid things, that's how I would sum this movie up. I just couldn't believe how far this guy could take things and how easily and willingly people complied, from pretty much the early start on already. It was crazy to watch and it honestly prevented me from ever getting into this movie and feel for its main characters. And yes, of course I realize all of this truly happened so I also therefore don't call it unrealistic but that doesn't take away anything from the fact that this movie still felt like such a stupid one. Watching people do things like this is in no way a fun or intriguing experience, not even on a social experiment type of level. You could definitely see and take this movie as a social study, that shows how easily people can be influenced and talked into doing some things which under no other normal circumstances they would ever agree to do. But I just could never enjoy or take this movie in such a way, simply because I couldn't feel for its main characters and the movie never gave me a true good sense of what was going on in their heads, as a good movie of this sort should always be capable of. Because of that, the movie just never worked on an emotional level for me neither, since I never felt any involvement with its characters, or any of the events. So for me personally, this movie was being a bit of a shallow and one note experience. I can definitely still see why some people would still 'like' this movie and take it for what it is but it just angered me too much to ever fully appreciate it, on any level. 5/10 http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

On the 1st February 2014 author bunnywuv reviewed this film with a heading Stop! Strip search time... and rated it 1 out of 10. Except for one large point I agree with everything they say in their review effectively that the film is totally implausible and unbelievable. BUT this film is based on true events. Now many films claim this only to be a loose interpretation and highly fictionalised version of the actual events. Today I Googled "what is the film compliance based on" and found another movies web site that shows the actual CCTV footage of the real life event along with clips of interviews with the victim and the manager. Dig this out and you'll find it as disturbing as the film itself. As for the rating, I've given it 10 not because I enjoyed the film but because I don't want to bring down the average score. No one should like this film but, and only because it is based on true events, it does make compelling viewing.
