Friends go off to a nice secluded cabin to spend Christmas together but there is a monster lurking nearby. It's pretty awful. The acting is bad, the script and the story leave a lot to be desired and the "monster", well, if you've ever seen a buck deer skull in a western movie, you've met this monster. Just so awful it becomes funny.

Like giving a deer head and a camera to teenagers and telling them to make a horror film. The drama was so cringy it almost turned comedy - until you remembered that they were actually trying to act scared of the bony creature outside the cabin.

Complete rubbish. The so called monster is hilarious. Amatuerish claptrap.some of the acting defies belief. Please don' t waste time on this nonsense.

Loved how the characters were revealed and how they all unraveled so individually when they were under fear. The creepy mimicking of others voices by the creature was most unsettling and stayed with you after the movie ended. Excellent ending.

I actually started laughing after one point. All the acting is pathetic but the guy who plays the brother wins all. If you wanna see a very bad student film, then this is for you! If you wanna save 2hrs, watch something else.

There are so few modern horror movies that have both a love for the genre and a desire to do something new with it but writer-director Dionne Copland delivers a film that excels in every regard. From the fantastic performances that get you to ACTUALLY care about the characters to the amazingly crafted horror set-pieces, Cold Wind Blowing is the REAL DEAL. I don't make comparisons to a classic like The Evil Dead lightly, but the way that Copland really reinvents the wheel here with her storytelling and the way that she decides to present the horror is nothing short of amazing. There is one scene involving a closed door that is probably one of my favourite horror movie moments from recent memory. This is female-driven horror at its finest, with a beautiful story about slaying one's own demons and with a few queer undertones sprinkled throughout. I can't think of anything better in recent memory that truly felt like the NEXT THING in horror, but Copland does more than enough to prove that she is one of THE most exciting filmmakers starting in horror today. This film will not be for everyone, but if you "get it" and ACTUALLY like horror movies for the right reasons then you will find A LOT to love about Cold Wind Blowing.

I don't know what to expect with most modern horror movies that try to capture the spirit of the classics, but I was really surprised by what Copland and her team cooked up here. I was frequently reminded of Stephen King's biggest strength, which is writing believable characters with rich backstories, and I felt that was definitely the strongest point of Copland's film. I really got the histories of these characters and found myself caring about them. Not a simple feat for a horror movie. The monster reminded me of Jaws in the don't show it as much as possible aspect. The filmmakers knew how to keep is scary by focusing on using sound and acting instead of trying to overload us with gore and special effects. It feels like a really classic indie movie and I can't wait to see more from Copland since she seems to really understand how to make a horror movie.

There's some truly impressive characterization at play here with the writing, directing, and performances combining to make a really compelling whole. The cinematography and editing pull it all together in a lovely way that drew me in and kept surprising me. Also frankly I love to see a film that knows when to show (or not show) what's haunting the characters when that seems to be pretty rare nowadays (there's also beautiful effects work, which is a real treat for practicals buffs). I felt compelled to hop on and give this a review because no, it's definitely not a typical slasher film, and yes, turning those expectations on their head is exactly what makes it so exciting, especially for a first feature in my opinion. If you're looking for something different that will stick with you after watching, these are filmmakers to keep an eye on.

This film is hilarious. I laughed from the opening credits to the forced laughter in the store when the thre girls buy a packet of crisps each. Absolutely awful acting if that's what you can call it. Zero atmosphere and a story that has been done a million times before. This has to be a complete rip off of Cold Prey 2006 Norwegian movie. That was dire as well however this is worse.
