Its a bit better than a student made film but not by much. The look and sound of the movie are ok, the acting is horrible. The story, could be worse. The only real highlight throughout the movie is sex joke girl who continually, almost, says something rude but never quite does. Its a joke repeated multiple times in the movie but does own the few laughs the film has to offer. Hats off for having a go, the movie was at least partly crowd funded so you have to respect their efforts but sadly not much else :) Those wanting to embrace a 'student' movie must watch El Mariachi Zombiebeavers was a better movie...just saying!

The German title goes full explain mode - nothing new for them. But is it worth it? Will cling onto it too? After watching it my prediction was no - seems like I was a bit off, considering the rating and that it was nominated and won even something. I had it in for "they were trying". Others seem to think it succeeded. And it always is in the eye of the beholder isn't it? The silliness seems to work for some, the bad acting doesn't seem to bother others and the innuendo (flat delivery or would call it "dry"?) comes off well too I reckon. If you think teenagers talking about their large throbbing ... hearts is funny ... well who am I to tell you not to be amazed by this? But if you feel this was a waste of time, don't blame me

Decent watch, probably won't watch again, but can recommend, at least as a one off. Vincent Martella isn't much to speak of in this, I'm sure almost any actor fitting the demographic would have fulfill the role as written. Jennifer Laporte really shows that she's able to carry the movie without breaking a sweat. She's a league above the other actors in the movie. The supporting cast is all decent, if forgettable, with one note jokes and just very little benefit to the movie, but I don't blame the actors, they just did what was in the script. To be clear, this is not a good movie, but I it has a certain charm to it that makes it worth a watch, and I would understand if people clung to it. I thought this was going to be a "Life After Beth", but gender flipped and with a possessed bear, giving it a "Child's Play" vibe. (I think I'd really like to see that movie though.) Instead we get a whiny guy screaming, "why don't you love me?!?" for most of the movie while this amazing young lady has to endure all this trauma (enough that it wouldn't have surprised me if at the end of the movie she had imagined everything after the break up.) just trying to be her best self, and doing really well at it too. All the after-life exploration is done off screen, and the focus is on the living person, not the dead, so we don't get any of the great character development we could have. Honestly, go watch "Life After Beth" first, then come back and watch this if you still need something to scratch the itch.

This is a quite an original horror comedy. I like it because it's interesting to see what's happened in the afterlife. It's funny to see Fern deal with her dead ex-boyfriend. She wanna be free but she also feel quilty about his dead so she just still with him. The end is good. I see better horror comedies, but this movie is funny so i enjoyed it. Yes it could be better, but it's still good That rules for love ghost was crazy. I also like that animation parts. The best was first sex of Robert and Fern and stuffed zombie bears :D

I wish I had a social media following solely to put this movie out there for more to see. This is one of those flicks that really surprises you as to the caliber of it all. The jokes are clever and well timed, the acting is soild, the story is original, and it keeps you engaged throughout every minute. I would like to thank this film for giving my friends and I some new inside jokes, with a side hug.

Usually when I hand out such low ratings it means the film annoyed me in some way, but this is simply too formulaic, predictable and mostly uninteresting. The gags are not all trash, there's a solid idea here and there, but most of them are primitive. The film is kind of inoffensive in its low-budget naivety, but it's just doesn't maintain interest. The male lead is the film's only major travesty: this kid stems from a wealthy pizza-chain clan, so yes, another example of how privileged and elitist the movie world is, and not just in the States. Because who the hell would cast this guy if he didn't have cash and connections? He's got less charisma than a chair or even Daniel Radcliffe - another elitist. He looks like a cross between Bruce Springsteen and Jay Berger. Just imagine if a Springsteen cloning experiment went wrong and Bruce jr turned out with an even more twisted lower jaw. If I tell you that Ben Stiller is more of a stud - and taller - than this nerd, would you laugh or accuse me of exaggeration? Bloody hell, at first I thought he was 14! Turns out he was in his 20s here. That poor girl, having had to kiss this guy, over and over! Just for that I'd shower her with awards. Speaking of which, why the stupid name? Fern. What kind of a damn stupid name is that? That name did annoy me, come to think of it, as did that damn awful love-song the pizza kid kept singing.

Horror Comedies have a reputation of either being great or terrible, the mix of genres can work and has in the past but a lot of the times (especially in low budget films) the comedy just seems forced and lame. With Clinger (a new horror comedy from first time director Michael Steves) there are glimpses of a really good movie, but there are also a lot of very sloppy attempts at comedy. The story follows Fern Peterson (player by Jennifer Laporte who did a really good job in her first feature film), Fern meets Robert Klingher (played by Vincent Martella who is best known for his appearance in the show "Everybody Hates Chris"), Fern and Robert are both fairly inexperienced when it comes to dating and they quickly fall for each other. Everything goes great at first but Robert begins to become much more invested in the relationship than Fern, it doesn't take Fern long to realize that it's time to break things off with Robert. However during the break up Robert is killed in a freak accident, now he is back as a ghost and more obsessed than ever. I really liked the plot line, it's one of the best parts of the movie in my opinion. They really do a good job of capturing the awkwardness of teenage relationships and that really gave the movie some charm. While there is a decent amount of stuff to like in "Clinger" there is also quite a bit of stuff that really throws the film off and prevents it from being great. One of the big negatives that really stood out for me was the fact the two of the characters (Fern's Sister and Fern's Coach) were extremely obnoxious. You can tell that these were the two characters that were suppose to bring most of the laughs, everything they say is an attempt at comedy but 95% of it fell flat on me and after a while it just got really annoying. There are definitely some funny parts in the film, the more subtle jokes and even some of the psychical comedy worked really well, but too many times the film tried a bit too hard to be hilarious. Parts of "Clinger" were extremely fun, gory, and entertaining as hell, unfortunately a few poor characters and a few too many bad jokes really prevented this from being a great low budget gem. Nevertheless this was still an entertaining Horror/Comedy, just a few steps away from being more than that. 5.5/10
