Circle of Bones

First of all, the one thing that really threw me off was the dubbed English voice for one of the actresses {Jana Victoria) who was clearly speaking English from her lip movements but who must have had a really thick accent so some genius decided to dub in a voice with an American accent. Check out the 9:00 to 11:00 minute mark and see if I'm crazy or not. Other than this little annoyance, the film wasn't bad at all. And short, too, coming in at around 1:20. Some websites list it as a series, but it's not - it's a stand alone movie. It gets a little *-eyes with the introduction of this sort of off-the-wall child trafficking cult but is good enough to keep your attention. .

Police are investigating cult murders in the Philippines. They consult Karen Wu (Sarah Chang) a former FBI agent who was the lone survivor of a similar cult incidence. The film is the story she tells as a flashback of a human sacrificing cult that plans to raise the demon Yawa into a suitable host. We have seen these before and the exotic setting didn't make this one any better. Surprise ending should be of no surprise to seasoned horror fans. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Strobe warnings, there are scenes through with strong flashing lights and images. Although the plot is mostly predictable if you are a horror fan, I thought it was still pretty enjoyable and entertaining. The acting is pretty good, and the story does try to be interesting, and they do try to explain what's going on. That being said, because of the familiarity of the plot, I'm unlikely to remember this film in the future. The production value isn't the highest, but it is not bad or cheap either. I have definitely seen much worse. So although the special effects aren't the best, there's no other issues with the quality.
