I wanted to love it. Was brought to this film from watching YouTube videos on mavericks. The writing felt.........lazy. I get that it's a true story but good writers can make even the mundane seem exciting. Maybe they wanted the wave to be the star. If so, they succeeded but better to watch the YouTube videos. I think the acting was also poor but that usually goes hand in hand with the writing. I think I got about what I expected from this film. Wouldn't watch twice.

We used to say only a surfer knows the feeling. Not anymore. This movie is probably one of the best surfing movies and kore realistic than the new Point Break movie. Tense, emotional and mostly realiatic . Definitely a must see for all surfers and those who are interested.

I guess this is the kind of movie fans of some extreme sport love and hold dear. This is very understandable. There aren't too many films dedicated to surfing, and the best potential seems to rest in a Silver Surfer flick produced by Helen Hunt, who is very much into this. I tried to watch it for the first half hour. Seemed well-made in a platic way but the abundance of cliché and the predictability of relationships among people failed to keep me awake. Though from a very different angle, I think Point Break still is the greatest in the genre. And Gerard Butler is a weird man whose face looks like buttocks, so...

We came from the sea? That piece of lunacy starts the movie and it goes down from there. Celebrating the life of someone who was reckless, foolish, selfish, careless, and thoughtless. He went free diving by himself in a strange place. Did I mention foolish? If anything this is an example of how not to live. Just look at all the young men his age that die when they crash their cars racing, speeding, etc. They wrap them around posts, trees, etc. We don't produce movies glorifying the men who kill themselves doing the same reckless things. And we shouldn't have done this movie either. This shows how tragic it is when men abandon their wives. What it does to their family. It is no wonder we have so many tragic deaths of young men, when we glorify people who kill themselves being foolish.

I have to say from start to finish of this film, i was totally absorbed. moriarity was played brilliantly of a rising star in the surfing world., with gerard butler playing frosty his coach, another starring role. teaching him how to surf mavericks.a brilliant true life story portrait of a rising surfer, whose life was tragically ended while diving.i think i must have gone through every emotion watching this film, from his brilliant filmed surfing taking me high,too his death at the end of film making me so sad.i loved this film so much, i would love to take up surfing now

Thanks team for this movie. Impeccably beautiful. No nonsense, no sleaze. Must watch. Movie's on surfing and a lot more.

One of the best ruf movies out there. The story(based on a real story), the cast, the joy and deep touching moments. A movie for those who live, like or even don't like surf, this is also a movie about life, and sure learnt one or two things. What can i say that haven't been said? Maybe... LIVE LIKE JAY.

Just wow! Watch it whenever you're feeling down. Amazing film to get you inspired!!
