So the movie is actually great until in the end.....SPOILER: Jacky attacks the 3 police officers in the elevator while he is handcuffed (why would he? They can't proof anything or jail him in any way). Not only that but one officer firees wildly with his gun and another one on the ground just straight up shoots Jacky. Why? What? If you are shooting an unarmed and HANDCUFFED civilian while you are 3vs1 then you are going to jail for the rest of your life. What the hell is that ending? Did the director need some kind of "dramatic" ending? Wasted 2 hours on this movie.

One of the best films I have seen for a number of years. Perfect storyline, perfect direction and perfect acting. If you are board with Hollywood P.S. and wants to see something different watch this film. As a man I am naturally feeling deep sympathy towards the main character; and thus enjoyed the film. However, there is no doubt in my mind the female audience would enjoy it just as well. Nevertheless, only mature (I don't mean old) audience could enjoy that kind of a storyline. Thoughts evoking film, where for many days after watching it you would feel somehow emotionally touched by the film. Though the sadist part of the film is the final seen, somehow I felt this is a perfect ending for everyone involved!!!! He could find peace at last!

A great film to watch if you're used to watch films accepting the director's choices and criticizing only their effectiveness. Yes, the almost two and a half hours are filled with a lot of story and back-story that are at times difficult to follow; yes, some of the symbolism seems to have been thrown in just for the sake of it, and you'll have to wait for the very last scene for it to pay off; yes, a beef hormones mafia may sound an unappealing (even ridiculous? Well, think again…) topic to someone; yes, inevitably there are some misses among the hits. But this is all about losing something (your innocence, your future, your self…) and trying (or not) to regain it: in fact, the advantage of having such a wide amount of narrative is that you can make sense of the movie from different (and equally valid) points of view. Give it a try. In its sophistication, Rundskop has what it takes to appeal any kind of viewer, as long as he is willing to get hooked.

A very deep, well-written story line. Character development is first-class and the acting is also very good all around. Directing is excellent with a lot of attention to detail. There is a main plot and several interesting side-plots. The flashbacks that give background and significance to what's going on at present time are perfectly placed and not an interruption like so often happens. The ending is excellent too. One thing I didn't like was a part of the final scene that didn't seem to make sense (would a person in that situation really do that?) but overall this one is a winner.

I haven't seen a lot of Belgian movies and honestly I haven't seen even one before so Rundskop is an one big surprise for me. Not that i didn't believe that Belgian cinematography exists but...anyway. I have to say that I have never been to Belgium so here's my out-of-Belgium very short review. This movie is about young Flemish cattle farmer, beefy guy who acts crazy and weird and has a sort of a story behind him, deep story that determines everything - his behavior, his way of life or way of doing business. Even camera work is trying to show a world around him in a pretty dark and dull way. Scenario is well-balanced, criminal story is good and has an actual background as a base. Matthias Schoenaerts playing his role great, dark and weird but great and I believe he has a future. From Rundskop i'll keep an eye on Belgian movies!

I truly like cinema, in fact I like whole types of... I can see movies such as austin powers or monthy python's movies and enjoy it. But this time I just don't have enough words to describe that movie. I am belgian, and if you are not from Belgium or have never have been on a trip to Belgium you won't appreciate this film to his true essence. Some will told you it's grey (not dark, it's not, it's just half dark half light)i will told you it's Belgium and his landscape. Listen to Brel's song "le plat pays" to understand it. That movie is just incredible, there are not any actors in it, just people living their own lifes, just a piece of life they invite you to live into. I just goes out the theatre and asked me what... What the hell happened, I now am back to reality, It's like a living dream you're taken into, don't move, just feel... Once again, save the true cinema, run, fly, whathever, but go see this movie

However I will have to agree that it packs enough intensity and dark, heart-wrenching material to qualify as a contestant for the foreign film category. On the surface, it is about a shady deal gone wrong but the film chose not to focus too much on the details of the underworld and the ensueing investigations, hence I would not categorise it as a crime film. Instead, what makes this film worked as a successful character study are the back stories of certain characters, and how recent happenings intensifies the after-effects of the past. On another note, Matthias truly excelled in his difficult role as a torn-apart man whose emotions are dictated like those of an animal due to his conditions. My only main issue is the pace, As i feel the film could deliver more than what meets the eye if it could have been slightly faster.

That is the best word I can use to describe BULLHEAD: enthralling. For me, this was perhaps the most enthralling film I've seen in twenty years. It's not the best or the saddest or the most realistic, but it is completely enthralling. The acting and directing are all very good, but the thing that stands out most is the wonderful, unique story and the way in which it is told. As far as I'm concerned, the film's pacing is what makes it so great, much so than anything, and the way things unfold. Just be warned that there is some disturbing content in here. Highly recommend.
