There are 6 reviews but 37 votes? Don't trust the rating....... I recently saw the movie BS High, and I have to say, it left me underwhelmed. It's evident that big media is trying to portray itself as the best, even if that means over-dramatizing the leaders of a fake high school.
HBO has a reputation for doing this kind of thing, and in my opinion, it's a waste of time. Although the movie had its share of exciting moments, overall, it felt like they were trying too hard to make it seem like something it wasn't..
I enjoy a good drama as much as the next person, but when it's so clearly fabricated, it takes away from the real emotion and impact of the story. That's what bothered me the most about BS High - it was so obviously trying to manipulate me into feeling a certain way.
Ultimately, we must remember that not everything we see on TV or in movies is real. We must be able to discern what's genuine and what's not, and not be swayed by flashy production values or big names attached to a project.
At the end of the day, it's the stories that truly touch our hearts and souls that are worth our time and attention. The rest is just noise sadly..

Apparently only ESPN can make good documentaries according to some of you. I don't think they glorify Roy Johnson but let him reveal his true character. He's a fast talker, he's got tons of charisma, and he's full of BS. It's all about him! Apparently some people missed the stories of the kids affected by this man. The kids crying, the lives ruined. The mothers dealing with the aftermath. They paint a pretty good picture of what a horrible person Roy Johnson is. And they even say "hey, this could have happened anywhere he just happened to be the right guy at the right time."
The story telling is fantastic. The production is fantastic. The human element of everyone even Roy is perfectly done. If you want a great story horribly produced documentary, watch "The Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much" and learn how to not edit a film.
This is a must watch in my opinion. Just like the Woodstock 99 documentaries, you're going to leave in a bad mood but it's because you should. I guess I shouldn't be surprised people on the internet hate something for stupid reasons but oh well.

Directed by Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe. A runtime of one hour and thirty-five minutes. Streaming on MAX.
This is about Roy Johnson the man, the myth, the legend. This documentary follows how Roy originally from New York turned someone else's idea for a charter school into his own. Partnering with Co-Founder of COF Academy John Branham Sr.
Then turning this already huge mission of starting a school into a whole new high school. Naming it Bishop Sycamore Centurions based out of Columbus Ohio.
You follow what happens when a Narcissist/ egomaniac mixed with a scammer has an idea. Then planting his idea seed in the soil of a corrupt garden. All I can say is sit back, buckle up, and get ready to see what grows. In this wild documentary.
"BS HIGH" was pure madness. Roy Johnson was made for the screen. Roy was wrong in everything he did. One of the most shady people. Who believed he wasn't bad, he was just playing by the rules in a corrupt system. Yes, high school sports might have a lot of corruption. But let's call a spade a spade. If you're scamming wether what the reason is, it's still a scam.
Regardless of all of Roy's hardships and willingness to go down the wrong road. He is entertaining nonetheless. A true showman. Roy knows he's a narcissist and has about six other adjectives to go with it. But that won't stop him from giving you a world-class performance.
The things he did were wild. The fact he was able to take an idea and make it his own. Then actually get kids to be a part of a fake high school. Is astonishing on its own. Then you take it a step further and have the students as well whether knowingly or not be a part of the scam. Scamming so well that he gets a game with a powerhouse charter school on ESPN. Where it all falls apart.
There is one thing Roy got right while talking. He is determined. He pulled off some unrealistic things. Roy had to scam to do so but still, he pulled a lot off. Maybe if he used some of his infinity stones the right way. He could have done a lot of good with time.
Let's be clear though he might want you to think he's the good guy in all of this. He's Robin Hood, taking from the rich and giving back to the poor. But in reality, more than being a scammer he's an attention * first.
If I said everything that happened in this documentary you wouldn't believe me. That's how wild it was. MAX hit it out of the park with this one. It was so wild, funny, and entertaining. I was glued from the beginning to the end. Then the ending itself was just crazy. Seeing what Roy and the kids are up to know is bittersweet. If you have a free hour and a half check this out. You won't be sorry. I give this five mor fires 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

I would have preferred this documentary to not have the scumbag Roy in it. He tries to come off as a guy that just does what he wants, whenever he wants and laughs about it.
I feel for the kids that were swindled by him. Roy belongs in jail. He even asks am I in jail? He should be. He's a pathological liar. He says he is the most honest liar he knows. That says a lot about him.
I don't understand how any parent didn't check in to this at all. How can you not be interested in it your child's grades?
I think the actual production of the documentary was ok. I think the execution of it was poor. They give Roy way too much camera time.
