When Lena and Ulli start the engine of their old Land Rover, Lady Terés, they have a plan: to drive from Hamburg to South Africa in six months. What they don't know yet is that they won't ever get there. Two totally different characters, jammed together in two square meters of space for almost two years, they experience what it really means to travel: leaving your comfort zone for good. Starting in Morocco, they quickly dive into the life of locals they meet on the road: Jamal, a Moroccan Berber who lives with his dromedaries in the Sahara, Ziza, a Mauritanian musician who fights against suppression from the government, Mame Sy, a mother who set up a private school for the poorest of the poor in Mauritania - and many more. Their journey leads them through the vibrant green canyons of Guinea, the scorching heat of Mali, and the amazing surf of Sierra Leone and Liberia. Everywhere they are, the two Germans make contact with the locals and demonstrate that real travelling is about more than plain sightseeing. But their long journey doesn't spare them the dark side of travelling: they are also confronted by corruption, sickness and even death. Setting out to discover a continent, their trip leads them down a very different road. One they did not expect: the journey to their true inner selves.

The levels of self-entitlement here is ridiculous. They are so unhappy in their comfortable, privileged lives that they decide to burn a ton of fossil fuels by driving a Land Rover across Africa. Ulli is completely miserable the whole time, and complains that he doesn't get any time to himself as if he expects to be able to grab a book and his laptop and spend a couple of hours sipping an oat milk latte in Starbucks like he's on holiday. This is pure narcissism and I don't think they even recognised their privilege by the end, instead expecting to be entertained by the locals every place they turn up and complaining about 'issues' they see like turtle farms, rubbish and pollution, but doing nothing about it.

The countries Lena and Ulli have visited in Africa are not easy to visit with an old Land Rover. Many of their countries I visited too and could remember many stories watching this movie. With great pleasure I could watch the pictures which are typical in this continent and which are of a high professional quality. By the way Lena and Ulli camped at the foot of The Manantali Dam I was involved during design at feasibility level. Finally they discovered also how friendly they were welcomed despite the poorly in which they are living. I can recommend this movie to all people who like Africa and their people. If you order more than one film you could share the joy watching it with a gift to your friends.

I watched the movie with the family and have to say that we all really enjoyed it. Sure enough camera equipment is not the best, but actually that's what makes it immersive; it depends on what one expects of an indie documentary. A film made with high-tech equipment does not always have to be a good film. Everyone who loves traveling can relate to the challenges in the film. You can see the contrast to the "perfect" world in Europe. Poverty is shown and yet people are most of the times happier than many people in the western world. That should give us food for thought. People enjoy little things and live hospitality. If you like animals you will also get your money's worth. I also think it's good that organizations and people are shown who take care of the suffering of street dogs or orphans, for example. Furthermore, environmental problems such as garbage or clearing are addressed and not swept under the carpet. The problem is omnipresent. I can definitely recommend the film!

I started watching this because of my love of Land Rover Defenders but carried on because of the honest presentation of long distance, long duration travel and the warmth of the relationships they establish with the local people they meet and work with. Highly recommended.

Coming from Africa and experienced some trips myself, not easy so will credit them on this. But the whining of the guy was so annoying that I actually got excited when he left to go back to Europe half way through. This is one of the worst travel expeditions I've ever seen. No language, culture authenticity of the places were mentioned it was all about them. We don't know you and we're not interested in your home video for future memories. Really bad. And so by the way religion is part and parcel of Africa so your view and opinion is insulting to most of the beautiful people that you have met.

Good to watch a movie that's down to earth about a real life travel adventure. It's about the journey with all the ups and downs of getting out of your comfort zone while traveling.

Such a beautiful documentary of the pains but overarching and immense joy of traveling through Africa. The realization that the greatest joy of traveling is always the people you meet and memories made. Them a wonderful representation of how Africans have such little means but so much joy and acceptance when things go wrong. Loved it.

Lena & Ule's journey is so raw and authentic. You will feel all of their joys, frustrations and celebrations with them as they travel. This movie offers a real look into the beauty & essence of what it means to be human and how important it is to have human connection at the forefront of what we do. You discover first hand what it means to embrace your own identity and fearlessly follow your dreams. This movie has inspired me to really value who I am and go after the life I desire. I will be forever grateful, thank you Lena & Ole. Must watch.

What an amazing movie this is. It captures the lives of two people on the adventure of a lifetime. What a journey and how perfectly edited the move was. It was funny, loving, sad and the scenery was breathtaking. It had everything . This is a must watch.
