I am a complete sucker for baseball movies, even the bad ones! A washed up Triple A catcher returns to his boyhood town not knowing his future. Unoriginal, but i'll give it a try, or so I thought. I like movies that throw me a curve ball and this one did. Won't win any awards but very watchable.

Extremely realistic and so well done even if the actors aren't well known. Cool to see Jason Street back in a sports movie and great to see they didn't go for the easy happy Hollywood ending

The sickest thing about this movie is the world is full of men like this a woman that will leave a truly good man to chase and wait for the guy to end the parade of girls through his bed!

Why surprising, you ask? I don't know. Maybe just because I wasn't familiar with either of the lead actors, and the poster art was just alright, and it's on Netflix. So I went in with low expectations. But here's the thing: This movie is funny, it's grounded in realism, athletes will appreciate it, and you will feel the "love story" at its core.

The answer to his question am I a bad person? He's worse than a bad person!

Angry with the ending...felt as if he never grew up...my heart bled for Rachel...never got over the love of her life...12 yrs past...not a word...comes home totally lacking in motivation...he should have gone into the ice cream business married, married her and coached little league...both having lost dreams by now...sometimes staying in same town has its limitations....

Tepid character development, although I enjoyed Scott Porter's character. Even the mom wasn't very believable as a nurturing mom type. Still, it was sweet enough until the end, when all of a sudden it cut to a year later and then the final scene. Which was ridiculous if this was supposed to be a rom-com, because -spoiler alert- he does not get the girl.

Combining a heartfelt story with a superb cast, Michael Doneger creates a story about coming home to nothing being the same. Minor league baseball player Dustin (Alex Russell) returns home after finally hanging up his cleats to find everything has changed. His friends, family, and even the town he grew up in have moved on without him, leaving him to find out what he truly wants to do in life outside of the baseball diamond. Expecting to return to the same quiet town of Brampton, Dustin comes to find that his glory days are well in the past, with no one remembering the high school standout that brought athletic recognition to the tight-knit community. Confronted with deciding between his love of the game and the girl who got away (A Christmas Prince's Rachel McIver), Dustin realizes that the choice to be happy isn't always the easiest, which is a concept that I myself still struggle with sometimes. With beautiful scenery that captivated my attention and a script that is filled to the brim by witty banter and tangible chemistry, Brampton's Own is the movie that will leave you looking forward to your next date night.
