As a screenwriter it's hard to lead an audience off the beaten path because they've seen everything. This is one of those films, that will not only surprise you, but the overall subject will scare the hell out of you. It proves that movies can still be made and carried by one actor. Dorff has truly arrived in this film. We've seen him take mainstream and art house roles in movies, but this is one of those films, that make good actors great. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves thrillers in any capacity. "BRAKE" is truly a ride and by the time it's over you will have felt it. You can tell this was a true passion project and it can be seen throughout. I will own this movie.

What a roller coaster movie!! I thoroughly enjoyed it from the first frame. Sitting at the edge of my seat throughout the movie; WOW!! Stephen Dorff performed very well as Agent Jeremy. He is a hostage in the trunk of a car, and the terrorists are asking for information pertaining to top secret information about the President. All the time throughout the movie, I kept on debating, should he or shouldn't he give up the information. Married, but now separated, his wife Molly was also taken hostage, and her release depended on his willingness to give out this information. A couple of really unexpected twists towards the end totally threw me off; What a surprise was that!!The last 15 minutes or so is so very crucial to understand the story. This is when viewers would start their own debates about shouldn't he? Wouldn't he? and Couldn't he? Yes people are going to be talking about this film for a long time to come. Enjoy.

I mean cheap because almost the whole movie takes place in a trunk of a car. There are exactly 0 I mean zero on location scenes. I usually don't judge a movie by its budget, and I'm not saying this movie is bad because of the low budget. It's bad because it doesn't entertain. After 20 minutes the whole trunk thing got really boring and pointless, and after 40 minutes I decided to jump ahead to almost the end of the movie and I can say I didn't miss anything. The whole movie can be understood If you watch the first five and the last 10 minutes. The in between part is a completely pointless piece of misery. And I need to state that the last 10 minutes aren't satisfying at all either. You don't get any kind of closure. A normal worthwhile terrorist movie would begin with the first and last ten minutes of this movie, and after that you would get an hour of expanding the plot and entertaining action sequences or whatever you desire. If I want to sum up this movie its like an action movie with all the interesting and entertaining parts removed. I'm very upset with myself that I wasted my time on this.

Oh my gosh! I saw this movie at a screening and, honestly, all I can say is.... awesome! What a smart, well-executed film. I almost had a panic attack from certain moments. I do believe that this is Stephen's best work, to date. His performance is honest, raw, vulnerable, and powerful. The filmmaking is brilliant. There's never a dull moment. Once you feel like you are getting a breath, something happens that changes the whole pace again, raising the stakes (as well as the hairs on your arm). It's very intense but so worth seeing! My only criticism is that I wish I had known to bring someone I could hang on to... it is a crazy ride! Loved it!

This movie is really great. I was in LA last fall visiting a friend and she invited me along to a screening of this movie in Santa Monica. It was on a Sunday morning and when she told me what it was about, I really thought there would never be enough mimosas at brunch to make this worth sitting through. But I was shocked. THIS MOVIE IS TERRIFIC. From start to finish I was hooked. Yes, it's in the trunk of a car, but the action is non-stop. Great action scenes, very clever plot twists and a big surprise ending that I did not see coming. And it's not what you expect at all. My friend hated the ending. I loved it. The actor Stephen Dorff is really great. I knew him from Bade and thought he'd fallen off, but I think this will give him a big boost, because he is really great in this. Never really thought he was that good until I saw him in this. He really brings it. Seek this film out and you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is far from a cheap knock off of other movies. It's an original and cool movie. I'm glad to find it here on IMDb and see that it's coming out.

What a colossal piece of crap! Dorff? His name should be "Dork" for making such trite nonsense!!! A training exercise??? REALLY??? This is a poor attempt at suspense playing on the fears of post 9/11 hysteria. My guess is that it was written on a series of cocktail napkins in an airport during a long layover. I am being generous assuming that it was written at all. I am told that its domestic gross was a whopping $4,000 - shame on the 214 people who actually paid to see this movie and did not write insight such as this to warn the rest of us. Wasn't there an actor named Tom Berenger at one time? He in no way resembled the over bloated card reader who was featured in this fecal swab that they are trying to pass off as a movie...Save your time and money and just slap the top of your head ten or twelve times - it will be far better than wasting your time watching this trash.

Brake is so realistic your imagination is of the charts from the moment GO ! You are immediately drawn into the character Jeremy played by (Stephen Dorff) simply awesome to capture the audience so early on in the film. As natural events have played a part in the story line of the film, you have the opportunity to psychoanalyse your inner duty to be true to yourself and also question the political movement of freedom of choice in the United States. This film just popped out of nowhere and was thrilling to watch, deserves an Oscar. The camera work is top notch all the way through the movie all the angles are shot just amazing with this you are left on the edge of your seat needing to know what happens next. The ending is also awesome enjoy a modern master piece.

This is yet another example of a director over extending his movie with a predictable ending. Yes it's always for some outrageous twist, and you're always left saying to yourself why, oh why did they not just end it there. I would have given this a solid 9/10 stars - for fans of Buried - if they had cut the last 11minutes out of this one. First off the first portion of this movie was cinematically pleasing, intense and the overall pacing was perfect. The twist at the end (2/10)... was pointless, looked like a day time soap - the way it was shot and way to predictable. The entire last half I was saying to myself ... I bet this is a .... I won't ruin it for you. Please, please before you release this in a cinema get rid of that horrible excuse for an ending and end it where it should have. I feel bad giving this movie any lower than a 7 as it was really good... up to that pointless and predictable twist.

Was lucky enough to see a screening, didn't know a thing about it. WOW, what a ride! Was on the edge on my seat all the way, gripping the arm rests in white-knuckle suspense. Superb acting and direction - and I'm still scratching my head about how on earth the camera got the shots. The plot-line challenged you every step of the way, just when you thought you'd figured out what the heck was going on, you'd be violently swung in a completely new direction. Roller- coaster is tame by definition. Think freight train meets semi-truck meets Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. 10 out of 10! Excellent! Will definitely see it again.

When I read a synopsis of this movie, it looked like a straight to video knockoff of the overrated 2010 film "Buried" starring Ryan Reynolds. Another movie where a person wakes up in a coffin under mysterious circumstances? Really? But the similarities (!) end there. This is an incredibly well executed movie. Stephen Dorff has come a hell of a long way since Blade and turns in a gritty, absolutely convincing performance. His acting, combined with a tight script and a solid score, maintain tension throughout the film. This is going to be one of the sleeper hits of 2012 and will make a great dark horse next awards season.

This movie is so boring especially if you have seen Saw and Buried(oh and the Recruit). The beginning is so similar to Saw that I couldn't sit through it. The end was predictable and without giving away too much I can say that it was really what one expects. All in all, a failure as movie, not because it's bad as a standalone thriller, but because it's not the first of it's kind and borrows too much from it's predecessors. To sum up:Originality in the script is the big issue here. However, if you have not seen the other movies I mentioned, you may like this one.( Saw is way way way better though)
