One time watch. I loved the acting of Naman. This movie is going to give you some old feelings. I have to say "Oddly Likable". :) Just watch it once...

Brahman Naman starts of extremely well. Set in 80s Bangalore and being a Bangalorean all my life I enjoyed the setting, its about Naman and his gang of friends who are all into quizzing but are equally sex crazy and want to lose their virginity at the earliest. This leads them into some hilarious situations and some badly failed attempts. Its a great idea on paper and could have been the Indian geeky version of American Pie but somehow Mukerjee (the director) and Ramachandran (the writer) don't know which tone to keep the film moving. The movie does become a serious affair in the last half hour when Naman and his friends start looking for love and sex together which made me confused. Frankly, the comedy was so good that didn't require them to take such a serious turn. The rule is simple folks - Sex comedies should never become serious, keep it simple and light. If you are a quizzer like me you will love this film because there is so much quizzing here. I loved the idea of the director putting a question to audience between the film. There is a lot of Shakespearean English here , so don't get lost. And if you are a Kannadiga Brahmin or want to see a Brahmin way of living, this movie is decent watch. The performances are top notch. Shashank Arora is an actor to watch out for. He is extremely good as Naman the sex crazy quizzer who objectifies women, is very selfish and thinks he is some hero but actually is coward. Its not easy to portray such a character. His partner in crime is Tamanay and they share a nice chemistry on screen. The rest of the cast does a nice job. Overall, its a confusing film and watch it if you love sex comedies and quizzing.

Well I am seeing IMDb for last 15 years and yet this is the first time I am writing review for any movie. No this movie is not that great but the current reviews do a lot of injustice. It is very enjoyable movie. It is dark but it is honest about it. I liked it. I am not sure if this is real review but I could relate to characters. I could see the darkness in the movie, quirkiness, taking me to 80s when you have only sex on your mind and it was real fun. I loved it.

Okay first things first, I am a female reviewing this movie. I really like the aesthetics. The medium film is a visual medium and this movie really makes full use of visuals and editing, also sound editing to make jokes. It's really inventive that way. Or maybe I just think it's inventive because I haven't watched enough movies to know better, but what I mean is, you know, whoever made this movie had a vision. Also like the writing.The jokes are funny, witty and the back and forth between the characters, it should sound forced and fake but doesn't. everything is adorably quirky I guess this movie is setting out to capture that specific life of nerdy upper class Brahman college students in Bangalore in the 80's. I wouldn't know if it did that authentically, but somehow this all feels like something that must have been like that at some time. The movie is incredibly sexist and doesn't shy away from making its main character look like an elitist, sexist asshole. The male gaze is everywhere in this movie and it's obsessed with naked women, specifically their nipples and vaginas. The addition of the womens quizz team they meet in the train doesn't excuse all the objectification. Naina in the end, is as much a male nerd's fantasy as those nipples and vaginas. However, the movie isn't kind to it's male characters either, they're shown as hormone driven, insecure and even emasculated pricks. So yeah, the movie is shitty to both men and women. And while the sexism never gets condemned, it doesn't get justified either. For whatever that's worth. All in all, pretty good movie. I just wanted to make sure that sexism thing was gonna be mentioned in at least one of the reviews.

Yes, you read it right! An out n out comical saga set back in the 70's and 80's. The overall feel of the film makes one rewind back in time and replenish nostalgia. A quaint film with the backdrop of the Brahman culture brings out a lot of humour, and facts spot on. A teenage boy who is set on a journey to set free himself amid-st the many conventional notions associated with his religion imbibed to him since his childhood is portrayed wonderfully. The intricate detailing which epitomize the tradition, upbringing and adventures of teens back in the 80's is something which impressed me as an audience. The journey of Naman and his friends from his home-town to a different city is shown just to the point and back is portrayed aptly. The female characters who appear in the film have done a good job, specially Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy (Ash) deserves a mention. A clever script executed with a simple approach making this a part of quality world cinema.Overall a good one hour and thirty minutes of pure comedy with a nostalgic feeling of Bangalore sums this up to be a good watch.

This is the Indian version of the teen genre films like "American Pie". It tries too hard to be quirky by using very unique looking actors and odd camera angles. The script shows the results of 300 years of brainwashing by the British Raj. Although it does represent a new thrust by young film makers on the subcontinent, this really would have limited appeal to Indians, not wide global appeal.

Quashiq Mukherjee's Brahman Nahman hilariously lampooned collegiate coming of age in 1980's Indian bourgeoisie. Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy played a highly loyal yet unrequited lover. Tanmay Dhanania and Chaitanya Varad acted as the venturesome sidekicks while recruiting Vaishwath Shankar who just wanted to fit in. Denzil Smith chaperoned the rambunctious conquest of the quiz team all-stars at the national quiz championship in Kolkata. Anula Navlekar was captivating while Subholina Sen was flirtatious to the rebellious nerd whom Shashank Arora portrayed. Ashok Mandanna depicted the nerd's orthodox yet lenient father whose factory near Bangalore University played the set for various antics. There were plenty of farcical scenes in this story of a youth society globally shrouded in conservatism and preexisting conventions.

Puberty brings a lot of curiosity with it. When you do not get any action you will frustrated. Sexual frustrations of Naman and friends is beautifully shown. Double standards of Brahmans are showcased in a very sarcastic way. This is a coming of age film that is quirky , weird and humorous. Loved all the dialouge in quiz language or geek langauge
