My wife and I watched this on DVD from our public library. The "extras" on the disc are interesting, at 90 minutes almost as long as the movie. The nominal subject is exposing sexual harassment but importantly it is also an expose' on how FOX News is not a legitimate news network at all but simply a propaganda machine for Conservative Republican interests. The mode is "lie as much as you can, keep lying until the naive begin to believe it." The sad part is that it actually works. The focus in this mostly true story is the exposing of the long-standing sexual harassment TV boss Roger Ailes used while placing attractive women in the spotlight. It worked ... until it didn't and he was ousted. He died less than a year later.

I hate to give this movie a bad rating but it just didn't do much for me. i completely support the message against sexual harassment and garbo fox news. but i'm generally not a fan of based on true story movies and this one had difficulty engaging me. it also angered me because i feel like not much has changed, fox news is still thriving and still horrible, and trump, who is the worst example of anti-women sentiment, is the president. but regardless of all that, i just didn't think it was a great movie overall. there wasn't much story. they seemed to pad the runtime with extra backstory for the characters, which can be a good thing, but doesn't replace story. you still need an intriguing story. the acting was fantastic. charlize is her usual beast self, and margot robbie continues to impress me. i no longer question if she's cast to be eye-candy, and i think she will be around for a long time (1 viewing, 3/31/2020)

The message delivery is quite heavy-handed and pedantic at the end, but the first 90% of the film does an excellent job of illustrating the difficulties women face when harassed in the workplace. The acting is superior - especially Theron's portrayal of Megyn Kelly, for which an Oscar should be awarded. I highly recommend this movie and if Fox lovers can't handle the truth, that's hardly a surprise.

Thank you for speaking up against workplace harassment and sexual harassment. This film empowers people in similar situations. I am captivated by the film, and I'm very thankful for the women and for the film.

The true story would have been compelling enough and able to send on it's own merit. Before the movie starts there is a disclaimer that the story is inspired by actual events and characters and events have been added for drama. Really? So knowing that they have basically made stuff up to enhance the drama you don't know what to believe. I think the women deserved better than to have their stories embellished.

OMG!! It is shocking to see how disgusting the truth is. Love the way they told the story. Appreciated those women came forward and let the world know the truth.
