Oh hi, I am one of the people who happened to witness this movie in the opening first day MORNING show. (ie OCT-16-2009 11:30am) And in a one-liner I say it's an OKAY movie. Nothing much to expect, and nothing much to get.
So , going threw the good side of this movie, TECHNICAL wise it's eye candy, with Hollywood cameramen, Stunt artists, Second Unit directors, underwater photography. YEAH, that's it.
And let's go threw the down sides, the STORY, the total rip-off of Hollywood-MOVIE "Into the Blue (2005)". That movie deals with stylish underwater exploration and an hidden Treasure.
Here story gets BOLLYWOODY, adding family dramas, brother wife husband friend storyline, (with unnecessary song numbers) and an ancient treasure owned by the British.
Story starts with Sagar aka Sethji (Sanjay Dutt) a marine diver settled in the Bahamas. His friend Aarav (Akshay Kumar) is a playboy character, who only cares for big ambitions. But Sagar is a family man married to Mona(Lara Dutta) and have a younger brother Sam (Zayed Khan) who is an underground bike racer in Bangkok. Things went wrong when Sam meet with Nikki(Katrina Kaif) and Gulshan (Rahul Dev).
The MOST Ridiculous things in the movie are the snatched out story elements from well known English movies. Like the First Boxing fight for the character development blandly taken from John Woo's "Broken Arrow". Also the Kylie Minogue club scene inspired from Will Smith's "HITCH".
Not to mention action scenes, most of the stunt sequence taken from well known English movies like "SNATCH" , "FAST FURIOUS" , "Police story SUPER COP" , "TORQUE" , "BAD BOYS 2" and "Into the Blue (2005)" itself. From all that I like the Renny Harlin directed "Driven (2001)" homage, by showing a woman's skirt flew up during the race, huh. Hindi directors are very creative, now!
What were the filmmakers thinking, the audience are dumb. It got nothing new, nothing fresh, even the color correction done by PRIME FOCUS studio for transforming the SKY to look BLUE sucked. Anything stand up in this movie was the GOOD cinematography which captured Bahamas beautifully. And cute LARA DUTTA in stunning SWIM WEARS huh!Apart from that it's usual bollywood masala.
The great miss was Akshay's negative character turned out to be good at last and that sucked.
(Hmm it got Rahman's music? I don't think so! Hey wait it got Rasool Pukkutty the another Acadamy award winner! so what?) I gave this movie 6 out of 10.

While most movie critics have done their job of dissecting blue to be a directorial disaster and having a weak story line, what they have actually done is to benchmark it to a typical Bollywood movie.
How many of the present lot of directors would think of having the lead star without a heroine for the entire length of the movie, and go all out to make a movie that we would love to have but only if offered by a Hollywood director not from a Indian director.
While Indians have liked Jaws and Titanic, National treasure was a big hit, no one questioned the logic behind the story or any of the scenes, but, when a Indian director does international quality work, everyone sits up and puts in their two bits of opinion.
A great man had once said– Opinions are like belly buttons– everyone has one.
In BLUE the underwater sequences are beautiful, the bike races world class, the actors especially Lara and Akshay look stunning and very different from their earlier movies.
Overall the movie is visual treat and you can sit back and enjoy the scenic beauty of Bahamas. The only negative of the movie is perhaps its end which is not much convincing to me but overall its a good movie .
As a movie buff all I can say is every movie is special, you got to go figure for yourself and stop being a football of other people's opinions.

Blue is really bull Schit movie ever released on Diwali timings. Blue should be name BULL instead. Anthony Dsouza , you ought to be shamed of bringing this crap to this world. What the hey man! I can not believe this movie made 6 Crores rupees on first day. Nothing underwater is shot, it looks like scene were shot in swimming pool. Very unrealistic and unbelievable. people are not that dumb dude... stop fooling them. Only blue in this movie was Sanjay Dutt and his belly. I mean where the hey is your six pack man? Guy has got some belly nowadays, you can tell even if you are sleeping while watching the movie. I would not pay my money to see the Dutt belly. I mean we used to look up to him as a fittest dude in past. How the hey a producer spend Crores of Rs/- after this SShitt? I must say that this movie was the worst i have seen in 2009. Many of the scenes are stolen from Discovery Channel's documentary. One may be two songs were good, even AR could not help this movie. Come on dude, you just won Oscar, we expect lot from you. Don't give this kinda music. I mean it was good to see Lara in couple of clothes but its just Lara, not worth that much. Katrina for 6 minutes can not help movie. Kylie can Chiggy Wiggy may be but WTH with that. All this and on top of you guys bring Zayed khan in this movie? WORST MOVIE OF AKSHAY KUMAR. How dare you insult your audience like this? He is the worst actor and most flopped in industry. What the hey with story ? I could have given you better story. Stop trying to imitate DHOOM movie by using unrealistic BIKE scenes. BORING.... BOOOO..... Where the hey is an entertainment?
FOLKS, I AM TELLING YOU ALL, DO NOT SPEND A DIME FROM YOUR POCKET TO WATCH THIS MOVIE. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU DID. very disappointing movie.

'Blue' falls in the category of movies you cannot make fun of. Because, the movie itself is a spoof. A wafer-thin plot, loads of action, crappy dialogues, and innumerable illogical twists & turns towards the end leaves one - What ? How ? Why ?
Sanjay is tense, Akshay over-confident, Lara glamorous, Katrina wooden, and well, Zayed needs to retire from acting. He can instead open a company 'Failed Starsons Pvt. Ltd.' with his cousin Fardeen. Maybe they can rope in Tushar Kapoor too.
Back to the movie, the cinematography is really good - credits to the location; and the portrayal of marine life is great, a first for Bollywood. From there, the movies goes down linearly.
A treasure hunt in the Bahamas ! Lol, it seems they lost the script while hunting for the treasure. The Director fails to realize that the only real treasure lost is the 100 crores of the Producer in making this movie. Nat Geo would have made a documentary with a better story in the Bahamas at this cost.
Give it a miss ! Don't spoil your Diwali.

The audience verdict on this one is likely to be split. For the people like me, who are completely in touch with Hollywood, who've seen films like 'Into the Blue', who've seen National Geographic and Discovery undersea documentaries, we're going to find nothing new here in terms of locales / settings and a very weak storyline. For all the others, it promises to showcase the beauty of the big blue, as never seen before on Indian screens and a story that is about average when compared to most other Indian films.
The story involves the mystery of a treasure ship, 'Lady in Blue', a mysterious character named Aarav (Akshay) who seems to be rich, but no one is sure of how much or even how, Saagar (Sanjay Dutt), who is befriended and employed by Aarav, but has a mysterious reluctance to share the whereabouts of the missing treasure ship. Then there is Sam (Zayed Khan), Saagar's younger brother, who wants to be all mysterious and cool but ends up coming across like a spoilt brat, the kind who are good for nothing and assume the world owe's them a living. All he does in the film is get the bad guys to come after the good. Gulshan (Rahul Dev) is the official bad man, a role he plays well. Mona (Lara Dutta) is the official eye candy, while Katrina tries to be the eye candy but the miniscule length of her role and her dreadlocks seem to impede her from doing so.
What the film does well is the underwater shots – its beautiful, nice, aesthetic and sensuous. Apparently, the first question Akshay had asked when the script was narrated was 'can you pull this off ?' and here his worries proved to be unfounded as debutant director Anthony D'Souza manages to get this part right. My only crib here, in fact would be that there wasn't enough action sequences set underwater. It also does justice to its two locales, Bahamas and Bangkok, capturing the relaxed Bohemian spirit and the natural beauty of the former. And the contrasting concrete jungle, seedy underbelly / steaminess of the latter.
Where it is a let down is in terms of the script / story
too complicated / unnecessary sub-plots (involving the parents of some of the characters) and even worse, not enough done with all the 'mystery' – the answers to the treasure / Aarav's past / Saagar's reluctance are too trite, lacking depth and therefore leave you with an incomplete feeling. Also, none of the characters are built up well enough – you feel nothing for any of them – it is critical for us to care for the main leads of an 'action' film else they become nothing but 'action figurines', which sadly enough, they do in this case.
Finally, casting is a serious issue in terms of Sanjay Dutt, who I fear is no longer suitable for action roles – he is clearly overweight and unfit and it shows. Also, his nickname in the film is 'Sethji' ? What was that about ? He is also way too old for Lara and so their romantic scenes together leave you bemused more than anything else. Akshay is fine but here he was let down by his poorly fleshed out role and also, once again, by his desire to look cool – his goatee doesn't suit him and neither do some of his costumes. Rahul Dev, in the most uncomplicated / straightforward role, is actually done well. And Lara is lovely – bubbly, easy on the eye and refreshing in a bikini. Always looking good.
This film seemed intent on spending a lot of money. The whole sequence with Kylie was unnecessary, fitted even less into the story than Denise Richards in Kambakkth Ishq. There were several vehicles blown up, which didn't need to be. They should've spent more time and money fixing the script, maybe even eliminating some of the characters (Zayed ?). Then, even with possibly half the production budget and definitely a fourth of the marketing budget, it would've been a better film and a bigger hit. More reviews on apurvbollywood.blogspot.com

Blue
Like akshay kumar has decided to beat his own record of giving consecutive CRAPS here comes another DISASTER .
Story has nothing new to offer , a group of criminals , younger brother trapped between bad guys and for his life elder brother goes for what he had decided not to do. A sexy girlfriend who was on gunpoint of bad guys and finally a fox like friend
.
If it was not enough an international pop star's cold special appearance .
Performance ? yes nobody has performed because director's role was missing . Like akshay kumar has written his own pathetic dialogues . every time he opens his mouth to shoot pathetic dialogues if u see his performance zayed khan has done better than him in the movie. Sanjay dutt , why director had chosen him is a big question.. He was not looking in shape and not at all a deep sea diver . he was looking tired and FAT. Lara dutta had nothing to do accept to do a bikini song.
Stunts of B grade Hollywood movie would be better than this .and if one wants to see underwater marine world, he should see discovery channel but not this.
Biggest disappointment was from director's side. he has made it without any planning.
Total waste of producer's money and people like me who went to see this crap.

It's always a thrill to watch an exclusive show of a movie even before it is released in India. The day turned out to be lucky enough to watch the most anticipated movie of the year. The most expensive Indian movie of all time, blue with all the hype and hoopla surrounding.
Let's get it straight. Blue is a dud with loads of thrills, action sequences, glamor and glitz. Movie starts off in a flash back showing the wreckage of "Lady in Blue", a ship carrying treasure looted by British from India, which is followed by titles cards with breath taking visuals of ocean as we see in a national geographic documentary. Cut to present we are introduced to Sagar alias Sethji, an expert underwater diver based in Bahamas, played by Sanjay Dutt. He works in one of the Fishing boats owned by Aarav, a rich playboy played by Akshay Kumar. Sagar is the only friend of Aarav. Sagar is happily married to Mona(Lara Dutta) who dreams to built a marine institute of her own. Sagar's brother Sam is a spoilt kid who ran away from them to Malaysia and finds his living from underground bike racing championships. Aarav wants to hunt down the treasure carried by Lady in Blue hidden some where deep down the sea and he seeks Sagar's help for that to which Sagar refuses, but due to the turn of events, they Sagar,Aarav, Sam set out on the treasure hunt. Will they get hold of it? What happens to them etc forms rest of the story.
The story - Its wafer thin with some forced surprises and twists in the end. You will be wondering what story has to do in movies like these.
Action - This is the USP. Watch blue for acting. Its thrilling and exciting. I bet, you will be on the edge of the seat. Action director James Bomalick has really given a visual treat with bike race, chases, underwater fights, sharks and blowing up of trucks and bikes on free way. Its worth the money.
Acting: - Nothing much to boast about. Akshay is cool, Sanjay is jaded, Zayed is over the top, Lara is the glam doll, Katrina is wooden, Rahul Dev is monotonous. Kylie Minogue is just there for a song which could have been clearly trimmed.
Music & BGM - Is it really Rahman or is it ghost directed by some body else. I never felt that it has ARR stamp on it. Let down.
Direction & Script - Seems that Anthony D'souza designed some cool visuals and pulsating action sequences and built up a story around it. Directing it with the ample support of action director could have been an easy task. Still I like to say Anthony is promising.
Verdict - Watch it for action and glamor.

this two stars is only for good camera work and for techniques. this is among very less film which technically good. ladies doing nothing in this film except showing body. Sanjay and Akki looks alright SAM has no proper platform and also he needs to re-establish him. there are loop holes in script and also poor direction. story is not gripping enough and first half is almost wasted. in my opinion guys can enjoy because of Lara's exposure, some can also enjoy the location, views and scenery.
just watch if you are too curious to know how 1crore is spent in one min.

Just got back from the theatre. I was excited about Blue. There was a big hype around Blue, as it is one of the most expensive Bollywood movies ever made, it has a wonderful star cast,Oscar-winner A.R.Rahman's music, Kylie Minogue, great publicity.
I thought Blue would have a rocking story apart from all the bikes, explosions and underwater diving. Of course there is a story, but it just doesn't live up to anyones expectations.
Blue has some plusses though, it has been shot very lavishly, I am always afraid of weird looking bollywood action scenes, Blue doesn't have those. Blue has excellent action scenes, first-rate stunts, awesome camera-work (Especially under water!).
Go see Blue if you are okay with seeing only great visuals and stunts. The movie is not bad, the story is just bad, everything else is awesome.
I rate this movie 7 out of 10 because of the following things : - Akshay Kumars awesome flawless acting as a negative role. - Sanjay Dutts performance. - Zayed Khan for once, doesn't go unnoticed, well done. - Katrina Kaif's hitting cameo. - Aaj dil gustakh hai, Fiqrana and Blue theme. - Superb actions and visuals.
