Very well done, but I don't know if its North American marketable. I've never seen any dark comedies before and it definitely fits the bill. It has both elements making people who view it want to cringe and laugh at the same time. Quite well done.
However, I don't think American audiences are ready for it yet. It takes on a British TV Show style, where it is entertaining, yet not marketable here. Nonetheless, like I said, its something I have never seen before and I still recommend it to people who are thinking of watching it. It is surprisingly interesting and you will, like I said, yell for disgust and laugh at the characters reactions to such an absurd situation; of biologically altered, rabid sheep turning against their owners will make you laugh and think about the issues on biological experiments. Good times

This movie is not funny or scary at all. It's just boring!
I was intrigued ,when I first read the plot outline and saw the ratings here on IMDb , so I decided to watch it.
I very rarely fail to watch a movie to the end but this time I couldn't persuade myself to watch it entirely. After approximately 45 min , I've started hitting the right arrow key.
The idea is good and original. Zombie killer sheep sounds interesting. But, the story is bad and shallow.
The acting is very bad if not terrible. Characters are really annoying in every sense. They're not funny or convincing at all.
The director did a bad job here. I didn't find any scene to be interesting. Everything is predictable in this movie. There aren't any surprises.
If you like comedies , skip this movie. If you like horrors, skip this movie. If you like bad movies , skip this movie 'cause it's "bad" only in negative sense.
If you like boring movies then I suggest you to watch this movie. You'll be bored to death!

I went into this film with high hopes, but no expectations and I was very impressed with it. This is a great zombie film with plenty of suspense and jump-out-of-your seat moments. The actors all did a great job and it was shot extremely well. It is a very fun and high quality movie. I had read someone else's comments about it being full of low-brow humor and fart jokes, but there were actually only two jokes in the entire movie that would be described that way.
Anyone who likes the "serious" zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later would enjoy this film as would the audiences of lighter films like Shaun of the Dead. It's somewhere in-between the two. I definitely recommend it.

Oh, come ON people, stop ragging on it so bad! It's a horror comedy about KILLER SHEEP for crying out loud! How high-brow do you expect the humor to be?? How could you even think that it's trying to achieve the level of something like LOTR??! You say that they could substitute any animal in for the sheep & get the same cliché situations, but they didn't use just any animal, they used SHEEP, and there's something really hilarious about a 'menacing' medium shot of a sheep standing in a field looking at the camera. :) I just saw it at a midnight IFF screening & it was fun & cheesy, yet I dunno how campy you could call it, because the special fx were pretty amazing - kudos for weta for the animatronic puppets, morphing sequences & really good gross-out gore. Yes, it made the audience groan at some of the baa-a-a-ad jokes, but most of the time we were all laughing hysterically & clapping & cheering at the sheer ridiculousness of it all! I think the vast majority of the audience left the theatre with smiles on their faces & in a good mood! I highly recommend this film for anyone who wants a good laugh & enjoys sheep jokes. I mean, come on, it's not hard to appreciate the silliness of this. Go out & support this movie! I challenge you to sit through it & not laugh!

Being a New Zealander I thought it was my duty to check this movie out and give it all the support I could. I wish I hadn't. The jokes were terrible, so I wouldn't call it a comedy. They didn't even try to make me jump once, so it wasn't a thriller. There was certainly nothing remarkably gory that you couldn't find in a 100 other films, so it wasn't a horror. What was it you ask - a failure. I suppose the reason I was excited about seeing it was that I figured it must have something really good going for it. You don't decide to make a movie about killer sheep without having something special to throw into the mix with it. But that appears to be what they've done.
The script was bad, the direction was average at best (even for a first timer) and don't even get me started on the acting. New Zealanders may be fantastic at special effects but as far as acting goes, well I think the sheep did a better job than the people. All in all not much fun to sit through, therefore I think you'd be wise to give it a miss.

Ever since I saw the Trailer for this movie, I really wanted to see, so today I got my chance. This has to be an awesome movie with the right balance of laughs and scares as well as gore. This film was never boring to watch and neat and sweet effects using puppets and stuff as well. Each character had there own unique that made them differ from each other and fun to watch. The Sheep were just so awesome to watch while attacking and eating any human they could find. I couldn't help want wanting to see the sheep eat even more people. I also love the effects on the weresheep as well. If you love horror/comedies then this movie is for you

After reading an extremely negative review of this, which COMPLETELY missed the point, I thought I'd write a far more 'accurate' review. In my opinion, this is one of the best of this type of horror movie i've seen. It's right up there with Peter Jackson's early work and Evil Dead. All the negative things the other reviewer was saying, the poor dialogue, and acting, the unrealistic effects, were deliberate, after all, the effects were done by highly skilled and trained effects people at WETA Workshops - who of course did Lord of The Rings. It is a horror comedy packed with clichés and subtle allusions, and full of New Zealand humour, which i concede probably doesn't translate well internationally. NZ is primarily a farming nation, we're a huge exporter of lamb, Farming is a huge part of our culture, and this blends that with our history of offbeat, slightly dark, and idiosyncratic cinema. It is a clever, quintessentially kiwi, homage to such previously mentioned horror comedies (or comedic horrors). That's what i like about it, it is a lot cleverer than it looks. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the film. If you like Peter Jackson's early stuff, you'll like this. Just don't expect it to be s***-your-pants scary.
