I really liked this one. Its not nescasary a scary movie, but the sounds in the movie are pretty gross! Its so well filmed. I wish there was more like this. Well done.

I discovered Bite by watching one of those "Top 10 best horror movies" videos on YouTube, and this film reminded me why I do not usually follow suggestions of those videos. From all the titles presented, one of the most interesting and different was precisely this one. The story is really basic: a girl during her bachelorette trip abroad, is bitten by a mysterious species, and when she comes back home, she start to transform in some kind of big, dangerous bug. This is it. And honestly if she went on a hospital to check her infected sting, and not simply call her physician that was not available, the movie would be resolved in like 10 minutes. It doesn't make any sense, but I don't want to be too brainiac about it and let's suppose that she did not get medical attention, because in her subconscious she was already linked to her baby flies, and she did not want to "kill" them with a cure. Still two are the things that I cannot justify: 1. The movie is entirely settled in a block of apartments and there are many scream scenes, apparently inhabitants of this complex are completely deaf, because nobody call the police. 2. The two best friends of Casey (the main character), Jill and Kirsten are in my top 10 as the silliest characters that I have ever saw in a movie. I mean, it's good that you worry about your friend, but when you see that her apartment is full of nests, maybe go inside is not the smartest decision. These are only the two most ridiculous things, but in general the whole movie is a big plot hole. It does not make any sense, and it is also very slow. They could have made a more interesting movie if they started with the Casey's story as a beginning for an international plague, or something similar, that would be an interesting movie. I have to praise makeup and practical effects that were very good and convincing, but that's it, there is nothing more. Movie's slow, even if it is only one hour and a half long, and the ending is just a joke. Do not suggest it at all.

Body horror. It's for people who love movies like Cronenberg's The Fly, or Carpenter's The Thing, it's the kind of horror that makes some people throw up or feel faint watching it. Now we have Bite. A POV shot horror about a girl on vacay with some friends. She gets bitten by what seems like any other insect, but when she returns home, s*&t gets real. Where this flick excels, is with its visual effects. Creators Black Fawn are true horror genre lovers and it shows, with Practical Effects being used for everything. The nest. The eggs. The way our heroine 'changes' . It's really well done and sometimes hard to watch. The negs. Well simply put, the effort is put into the effects, but the story and the acting is so-so. It's just all surface. By that I mean, The Fly was about people's fear of AIDS . The Thing is a movie that looks at isolation and paranoia. Bite is just a movie about a girl being bitten by an insect and turning into an insect herself. You could argue it represents her insecurities but I just don't by it. So check this one out, if Body Horror gets your gory juices flowing and I give Bite....

I first heard of this movie back in the Summer and was really looking forward to it for a long time. I loved Contracted and its sequel, and this movie seemed to promise something similar, but ultimately fell really flat. This movie feels like taking a bite out of a beautiful shiny red apple, only to find tasteless mush inside it. They got the FX right, but nothing else was. The script was too bland to carry the plot anywhere. It was very basic. Casey got bit by something underwater while on vacation in Costa Rica. And of course, whatever bit her was carrying something far worse than Lyme disease. This thing started to transform her into some other species. There were very interesting FX and Casey got some new and deadly abilities. I really wish we could have seen more of where all that was headed. The rest of the movie didn't have much plot. And the characters really weren't that likable. Casey had one friend who genuinely cared and wasn't that bad. The rest were not so good. Ultimately, beyond the FX, there isn't anything to really like about this movie. The other reviews on here are spot on. We're all saying the same basic thing. It's not a good movie, but the FX will keep you entertained for awhile.

This movie starts off looking like some shaky cam movies and soon turns into a gruesome, egg laying nightmare that I found extremely entertaining for no particular reason. I think that I found none of the characters likable, they ranged from hated to disliked. So as they fell foul one by one there was a mild sense of enjoyment found. Even the rapid demise of the main character as she went from "I don't think I'm ready for marriage" to "My job is to lay as many little eggs as possible" was something to look forward to. There reactions were great as well, going from "It's just a little bite" and then the big "BITE" title comes up. To - where there are eggs, and webbing everywhere and the visitor is saying "It's not as bad as it looks." By the way, it doesn't matter who's room your walking into, if you open the door and there's webs and eggs everywhere and it looks like some giant insects den you say "opps, sorry wrong room" close the door and run. Acting was not brilliant, dialogue was just okay but for some reason this has been the best horror I have seen in a long, long time and I need to give it 10 out 10 and I have no idea why.

A group of girlfriends go to Costa Rica for a bachelorette party. Casey is having doubts about marrying her beau (Jared) because he immediately wants children and she does not--PLUS, she knows she's still too much of a party animal. While searching for what the locals call paradise, she is bitten by something. She is about to begin her new journey... "Bite" is a decent attempt at horror that had many good things going for it: First, the acting was better here than in most movies like this. Yes, the writing could have been a little better. Some lines worked; while others did not. I particularly loved when her friend tried to tell Casey (during Casey's metamorphosis) "People go to Costa Rica for vacations. I'm sure the doctors have seen this a million times." I will also say that even though there is not a ton of blood in the movie, the goo and puke factor had me cringing many times. I would have liked to have seen what bit Casey, but I can also understand how by not showing it that also helped build the tension. Rated "R" for graphic violence, very disturbing images, brief nudity, and language, "Bite" certainly isn't the best movie you will ever see, but it will be far from the worst.

Bite was a fun, campy and compelling suspense horror in the same vein as The Fly and every other transformation film. The characters lean more to one dimensional but that's overshadowed by a good pace and great storytelling. What is absolutely mind blowing is the practical effects as our antagonist is slowly morphed into one of the more memorable creatures in recent memory. This film is a definite watch for any genre fan and may catch a few casual cinemaphiles off guard. I can't play it off as a top 5 of the year but if you have the chance, this is a must watch. I enjoyed this movie, I had not heard about any of the hype until after I watched it so I had no preconceived ideas. Casey is getting married and goes on a hen party trip with two of her friends. They go off the beaten track to a natural pool which is recommended to them by someone they meet. Casey is bitten under the water by some kind of bug. After returning home she notices a rash on her shoulder whilst in the bath. Areas of her body become inflamed with raised large lumps, they are painful and develop into gross pustules. She feels unwell, begins to get sick and basically gets worse and worse. Along with this going on she has the mother-in-law-to-be from hell who literally hates her guts and a friend who wants her fiancé and steals her engagement ring. Casey mutates into a gross goo-dripping creature that lays little ball eggs and makes a big slimy mess. There have been a lot of negative reviews about this movie but I think that is possibly down to pre-movie hype that did not live up to expectations. For me I found the movie a little bit slow after Casey began feeling ill. I quite liked the characters and how they were all a bit off. I was frustrated at how Casey didn't go to the doctors when the initial symptoms began appearing as that would have been what any relatively normal person would have done. If she had have gone to the doctors this would have given the movie a bit more depth and could have added another dynamic. As the movie progresses and Casey becomes more and more mutated I thought it was really good, I like the concept of making a nest and how she changed. I felt for her. There was tension and the makings of a good thriller as her friends began to try to get in touch with her and enter her apartment. Yes there are many flaws but it does still stand up as a pretty good horror. It caught my imagination and kept me thinking about it for some time after watching which is always a good indication of a film you have enjoyed.
