This is an awful film that has nothing to recommend it for. The actors look embarrassed and it just falls apart after an O.K. start. You leave the theater wondering WHAT WENT SO WRONG. I was VERY disappointed by this movie and I cannot recommend this rubbish. Awful film. Bad, BAD, BAD!!!!

This movie is so bad it's almost funny. The characters and plot were never fully developed, which left me wondering what, exactly, the movie was supposed to be about. If it truly was supposed to be a love story, it has to go down as one of the worst love stories ever written. Angelina Jolie's acting was so bad it was almost hilarious at times. Try to keep your composure after about the 10th shot of her staring at him with that sad, pouty face and lips that look like they're about to explode collagen everywhere. You can only fault her to a certain degree, however. Whoever wrote this thing gave her very little to work with. The dialogue was trite, cliche, just downright awful. The dialogue and story line was so predictable that my wife and I started saying the lines even before the characters said them. That's how bad this movie is. I do think the positive side of this movie is that it can be held up in any decent film school as an example of "How to NOT Make a Movie."

"Beyond Borders" can be described as an adequate pseudo documentary. Angelina Jolie is the heroine who does an adequate performance as an aide relief agent with the United Nations. Her costar, Clive Owen, plays a vigorous relief agent who doubles as an arms smuggler. There is an interwoven story of their love affair. A simultaneous trist is overseen by Jolie when she happens upon her husband's indiscretion. Filmed in color, there remain some scenes of snow covered hills and mountains which give one the feel of a black and white ambience. There are some spectacular scenes of the famine in Africa as well as the wars in Cambodia and Chechnya. The overall performance is only adequate, but is is worth a viewing on DVD. The historical accuracy is questionable. The end result is, however, a dramatic one.

First of all...Clive Owen is total babe, and if you love him as much as I do, then you'll have to see this movie...which is incredibly unfortunate, because it is truly one of the worst and most offensive movies to come out of Crapville, USA. This secular "Passion of the Christ" made me want to bomb all third world countries to put them out of their miseries, or at the very least promote mass suicide among its inhabitants. If I was from any of the countries in the movie, or for that matter, if I wasn't white, I would have puked in my mouth and would have been forced to swallow it, or vomit all over Angelina's pretentious stuck up face. Wow, just terrible...

This movie is one of the worst movies I've seen in theaters this year- and I've seen Underworld (Okay, Underworld was worse). The cinematography and score were average at best and the acting wasn't going beyond borders either. I went to see this hoping to: a) catch a good film that would give intelligent commentary on social issues while showing off the beauty that is our global culture or b) have a nice long make out session. Instead, all I got was a crappy film and a cramp in my arm. Boo to this movie. The scenery was indeed beautiful though- it's a shame nobody mentioned that to the DP.

Another wifey Africa movie, and unfortunately, pretty much along the same lines The movie focuses on Sarah (Jolie), a British woman who becomes aware of the dire situation in Ethiopia after an aid worker Nick (Owen), storms a charity event. Sarah feels compelled to go and assist the work, and is horrified over the desperation of the situation. She also struggles to understand Nick's way of working and his overwhelming abrasiveness. After a short trip Sarah returns to the UK and continues her work by joining the UN. Several more trips to other countries follow, resulting in more horror and heartbreak. Challenging at times, but unfortunately there's nothing new in this movie we haven't seen in the genre. If you are passionate about the plight of the Africans, hire "Hotel Rwanda", a true story backed up by an excellent script and cast.

I just saw this film today in Mexico City and it is incredible! I highly recommend it. I was surprised to see it didn't do well in the States. It just goes to show you how shallow we've become and how stupid movies make a lot of money while jewels like BEYOND BORDERS bomb at the box-office. I think this is a must-see. It has opened my eyes to a world I didn't know. It makes all our worries seem so trivial and stupid. I really recommend this film to anyone who is feeling depressed, it really puts things into perspective. This is one of those life-changing films. I deeply admire Angelina not only is she stunningly beautiful, she also has a heart of gold.
