Ok I just have to say this movie is not scary and not funny but kind of disturbing this boy is like an idiotic psychopath and he needs help like if they were to make part to I wonder how long it will be and if no one finds out what happened in this movie then it just I waste of time

"Better Watch Out" began as if it were a variation on the home-alone, babysitter, slasher-horror film...or perhaps a satire of any of those styles. But thirty minutes into the show, there was a twist that turned the experience into a most unpleasant and indeed unbearable experience. The main problem was in the plotting that included a sick and twisted character portrayal, yet a predominantly realistic style that made the viewer even more uncomfortable.
In the DVD version of the film, there is a lengthy segment called "The Making Of..." in which the filmmakers have plenty of time to offer a justification for their choices. But their expostulations leave the filmgoer even more confused. It turns out that the idea was primarily to offer something new and different for film audiences. As one of the producers indicated, the goal was to stay ahead of the curve and make a film "for the future" in terms of viewer expectations.
Unfortunately, it is not enough to merely to try to be different or add a new spin on conventional films, whether they are horror films or dark comedies. The most disturbing choice made by the filmmakers was to turn a thirteen-year-old child into a demented monster, perform the scenes realistically, and develop very sympathetic characters (the babysitter, her boyfriend, and her ex-boyfriend) around the kid, who were on the receiving end of the actions of a complete nut case.
The result was a film that was not funny and not suspenseful. At one point in the bonus segment, one of the producers likened the young monster Luke to the film character of Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lecter in "The Silence of the Lambs." And the film's director, Chris Peckover, casually explained that kids grow up faster today, as if that might explain how young Luke could developmentally become a Hannibal Lecter at age thirteen.
The closing musical selections for the film were the Christmas song "Joy to the World" and the standard Renée Olsted tune "Ain't We Got Fun." Those musical choices demonstrate everything that was wrong in this film. It was not a good Christmas film. It was not a good thriller. It was not a dark comedy. It was nothing more than a jumbled mess masquerading as an innovative piece of filmmaking.
Clearly, the film artists involved in this project have some decent technical skills. But their downfall was in not knowing their audience. If they want to anticipate future audience responses to their work, it would be a good idea for them to read word-for-word every review published on this website.

My 680th review damn IMDb got rid of the number so I have to do it myself anyway I really enjoy Better Watch Out for what it is! Levi Miller and Ed Oxenbould are very fun to watch; I love how everything plays out. Definitely would wanna avoid spoilers I agree with who says that, I am very satisfied with the epilogue. Better Watch Out is not for everyone which is understandable because it has some outrageous stuff regardless I think the film is spectacular!!

Is all about abusing, killing and this is done by a 12 years old in the entire movie. What can I say, this kind of movie shouldn't be on market.
Where is the comedy in a movie that is all about disturbing images involving teens? In the music? Oh well, you need more than funny music to point out a funny situation. You must have a really twisted mind to find this even a movie.

I had high hopes for this film. The trailer set it up as a home invasion thriller, and while it technically was, the writers revealed their cards much too early and thus ruined what could have been an otherwise great film. The writing, in fact, although attempting to be clever is juvenile and ridiculous. When you find out what's really going on, it implores you to roll your eyes and groan at the fact that you've invested any time at all into such a dumb plot. And though it claims to be a "horror/thriller", it was either dumbed down for younger audiences or chopped to death in editing because much of the violence, in fact, occurs OFF CAMERA.
If you're looking for a good holiday thriller, this is not the one. If you have an hour and a half to waste, give it a chance but don't expect too much.

Chris Peckover must be super high on drugs while directing this movie...I love watching horror movies and when I saw this movie has a 6+ review I figured I'd give it a try. But as 15 min on movies I was pretty sure this gonna be total headache movie. Even a amateur movie maker who makes short movie in you tube can do better work than this film. This movie is total crap. If you are watching this movie reading other reviews then you should stop now. If you still want to watch it then don't forget to keep aspirin with you to ease your headache.

I don't get why on earth was any investment made in such a project. With a completely misleading trailer, the film is no where close to a 'comedy' as the trailer claims. The biggest question that arises is that what was the aim behind writing and filming such a story? A story of a 12-year old (psychopath) boy going about drinking alcohol, harassing a girl, assaulting and killing people and at the end (as can be easily perceived), getting away with all the sinister things he has done. I mean, what does the film teach by portraying kids talking crap, smoking weed and what not?
An absolutely sickening film; I wouldn't recommend watching this one as I myself am regretting for wasting 1 hour and 29 minutes of my life.
