Because I Don't Lie

I have given the movie 5 rating solely on the basis of the comedy content and Govinda's comedy timing. Satish Kaushik was a great comic support with great dialogues to go with it. Beyond this please don't look for any logic to the situations or try to make any sense of the arguments in the court, cause you won't find it. You don't have to be a lawyer or a law student to find the arguments Govinda presents in court to be utter nonsense. A Renter asking a redevelopment builder to buy him a flat in place of the rented one he is being asked to vacate. An aged person who witnessed a murder being accused to be the murderer just because he is unable to stop the murder by jumping over a tall boundary wall. Govinda lighting himself alight in court to prove his point in court. All this theatrics are supposed to prove his genius as a lawyer. Totally ridiculous !! But like I said leave the logic portion of your brains in a safe place while watching the movie or it will get in the way.

Kyo ki main jhooth nahin bolta is a comedy at heart. As far as the story is concerned, it does not have a single major plot, it keeps changing throughout. Start as a family drama where Raj(Govinda) fools a lawyer Tejpal(Anupam kher) and makes her daughter(played by Sushmita sen) fall for him. But their romantic story is ended at about 1/3rd of the film length. Then comes a phase where helps joins mafia to earn a living. The whole middle part of the film is it's worst part. Tara, who is wife of one of the dons is a major character of this middle part, but her part was totally unnecessary. In last 1/3rd of it, Raj becomes honest, he has a win a case against his own friends and also has to win his wife back(who left her beacause of his association with bad people). Last third is the funniest, with Govinda at top of his game. The other two halfs are merely time pass. Though it's not a court film, but the arguments the lawyers make in court as well as those which Raj used to impress Tejpal are senseless. The scenes at court are poorly written. Among actors Govinda, Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher did good jobs. Rest were just gap fillers. A time pass film, with gripping last 40 minutes.

The movie is inspired & copied like most other moves of Bollywood. And the source this time is Liar Liar. The movie is about a small town guy who comes to Mumbai and becomes a lawyer He wants to make a lot of money and have a comfortable life. He wants all the good things in life by hook or crook. He lies throughout his life, his career, marriage, and everywhere else. He lies to make money, he lies to make a living, and lies on love too. The only passion of his life is money. When his wife(played by Susmita Sen), finds out of these things, she threatens to walk out of his life. Their Son, feeling insecure prays to a falling star to help his father not telling lies. After that the movie goes funny. Govinda is simply unable to tell a lie. Even if he tries to tell a lie, he simply tells the truth.

This movie made by David Dhawan and starring Govinda together was excellent This movie is inspired by LIAR LIAR (1997) Govinda's best scenes in the first half are the way he tries to attract Sushmita and Anupam Kher which is good In the second half it is much like LIAR LIAR where Govinda makes a promise, breaks it and lies about the reasons The songs are quite hummable Govinda's fast talking, cheerful humour and slapstick comedy is what makes the film watch able Sushmita Sen sounds annoying when she cries Rambha is nothing great but okay Anupam Kher hams Satish Khaushik is likable Ashish Vidyarthi is very good Kiran Kumar reminds me of Premnath in his role Sharad Kapoor and Shahbaz Khan are alright

DD has known to remake south films and Hollywood films, This time he raped or rehashed Liar Liar which is one Jim Carrey's funniest films. Kyo Kii Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta was also the first production of Balaji Productions which failed. The film not only copies Liar Liar but also mixes DD's own masala of Biwi No.1.etc The film starts off funnily, Govinda's scenes with Sushmita are well written and unlike Liar Liar more focus is given to the build up and scenes between Anupam,Sushmita and Govinda and lot of subplots In fact in Liar Liar what was finished in a short time here it stretches Some scenes are funny like Govinda's breakdown in court, Govinda's inability to tell a lie which is copied from Liar Liar, though not as funny some moments are funny.But the film gets too serious in second half and suddenly ends But DD also adds action, villains to the mayhem and the result isn't too great DD copies the main plot but adds almost all masala he has done before Direction is okay, funny in parts Music is okay, nothing great Govinda though doesn't match the energy and face contortions of Jim Carrey yet brings in his own charm to the role and plays it superbly, This is one of his funniest performances.Also in dramatic scenes he is superb Sushmita Sen is horrible in comedy, her shrieking gets to the nerves Rambha has a brief role and she is nothing great Anupam Kher hams, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Sharad Kapoor, Shahbaaz Khan, Ajit Vachnani are as usual, Satish Kaushik is funny Govinda's son is good
