This is a review of the extended DVD version..... After looking at the way Beowulf offered thin plot, acting and character development to give an excuse to watch eye candy, we have this: a made-for-TV movie costing 1% of what Beowulf did, and giving us an entirely new, in-depth look at the BSG universe, providing richer texture, logical backstory, and scintilating drama. In Kendra Shaw, Ron Moore has delivered yet another tortured soul, but one who can hold her own against established characters Cain, Thrace, #6, and the Adamas. An incredible achievement. BSG's effects have always served plot and character, but the free-fall scene between Adama and the Cylon highlights the superiority of this series to all other filmed SF and fantasy, on either TV or the Big Screen. I am looking forward to the end of the series, which this film sets up. Not because I want to see it end, but because it will produce through its end what Star Trek never delivered, and Star Wars usatisfactorily did: a perfectly organic conclusion to the greatest piece of filmed science fiction ever made. Ron, David, cast and crew: thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Watched the movie last night was very entertained throughout. The space battles were the best I've seen on television to this date, and ranks in the top 5 for movies as well. The acting was top notch and it was very refreshing to see the "vintage" cylons and ships again. You won't see to many familiar faces here though. Adama / Apollo / and some Starbuck, is about it. Others make very brief cameos and the actor that plays a young Captain Adama is a dead ringer. The only fault I could find is the length of the movie. 2 hours was short and should have explored more of the young Adama story for everyone that did not catch the four or five two minute shorts that lead into the movie. It's funny to me that so many people are turned off by this show because of it's dark and humorless atmosphere. Sometimes it hard to watch a show about the true nature of humanity and our shortcomings as a society. This show has been true to itself throughout and continues to set a higher standard for television. Kudos to the team and gets me excited as hell for the season 4. Rumored as the last season and ties everything together. Who will be the finale Cylon!

Well after reading a few comments on this TV/DVD Movie of the famed Battlestar Galactica, I must say how shocked I was at some reviews. Crappy? I don't think so, My question to whoever wrote that is ''What the hell where you watching?!'' Same old ideas? Why watch it then? If you'd didn't like it why did you bother?! I when this movie was first announced waited and waited for it to come out and was NOT disappointed. It was a GREAT movie and a GREAT start to what is announced as the finale series of this classic Sci-Fi series. It was Rone D. Moore at his BEST Overall rating 10/10

Actually I did not expect too much from "Razor", but it was a good surprise. The actors are great, as usual, their characters are strong. I'd like to mention the remarkable role of Stephanie Jacobsen (Kendra Shaw). The writers also did it well. There is something everyone can learn from this movie. I will be glad, after some years, to watch this movie again with my little son. Some things just couldn't be said better. Thanks to Ron D. Moore an the whole crew. We are waiting for the real season 4.

"Razor" is a love letter from the show's creators. The 2-hour movie ties up some loose ends left from past seasons while teasing us with clues as to where the show will go in its fourth and final season beginning next spring. And, of course, we're treated to some amazing fight scenes. The producers may have meant to attract new viewers to this finely crafted series by using flashbacks in "Razor," but still it's too densely plotted for newbies to understand everything. I've never missed an episode and I've viewed "Razor" twice, but I still plan on watching again because I know I've missed important details. But I thought it was excellent. Great effects, great back story for Cain. Interesting tease to Season 4. Read my entire review at http://weblogs.redeyechicago.com /showpatrol/2007/11/ razor-cuts-like.html

This is a great episode of galactica that sits outside the main plot to the fill some gaps for avid fans. However after seeing this in the DVD store its obviously being packaged as a standalone movie to which it doesn't stay true. Straight off the boat there are specific references to moments you'll barely remember as an avid fan. I tried to introduce my friend to galactica with this episode and we gave up after 2 minutes. Its used as a mechanism to introduce new characters for the next series and show their role in the pegasus plot tree. Even as an avid fun up for a good episode I would recommend some revision of the previous series beforehand.

Plot: A two-hour Battlestar Galactica special that tells the story of the Battlestar Pegasus several months prior to it finding the Galactica. My Review: With the recent news the possibly one of the most brilliant Science Fiction shows coming to its conclusion, producer Ronald D. Moore felt he owed Battlestar fans to a 2 hours short of a commemoration to the show in between Seasons 3 and 4, and with it he gives us the Battlestar Pegasus' history. One can only construe that with the show ending on Moore's terms he does have the resources and realistic approach to make his ideas work. Albeit there will be no sixth or seventh season, he gives us a episodic filler that shows us the short spent life of a Pegasus office named Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Chaves-Jacobsen). Our focus encompasses her trial and tribulations associated with a unknown character. She passes the role of being likable in all aspects, even her darkest hours ascertain her character flaws but her hard-headed realist approach to a situation, even if it crosses a line. For some it may be an uninteresting stop gap to fill in the void of the shows extended break, however it does remarkably well in providing some amazing visual treats. It gives us a crews account of tragic events as well as some character history, new and old faces reprise themselves with the same façade. Whilst the story unfolds, we see flashbacks of Kendra's time on Pegasus during the chronological Season 2 episodes which the film is set and suggests that it took place during that time, while it flashbacks to her time under the command of Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes); whom proves that she can smile. The contrasting hard decisions she makes and if or not to follow her Admiral. We are also treated to a flashback of Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) of which gets the shock treatment with a younger actor who portrays him right down to the voice and mannerisms. A revelation ensues the flashback, in which we are given a rather disturbing insight into 'those skin-jobs'. We are given a trip down in the melancholy road, visually; as we get to see the classic Cylon and Cylon raiders that were ever-present in the 70's version, that fit the modern re-imagining as they were constantly mentioned throughout the series as have being been in first war 40 years prior to the current Cylon war. They are given a reboot with the same familiar charisma, even for a machine as old catch phrases make a reprisal. Some may suggest and argue that it was never logical idea to make this 2 hour special; as it really only keeps the fans on edge before the fourth and final Season returns. Nevertheless, us fan boys, and girls, need something to take the heat off. Verdict: Filler; but a very good one, emotionally and visually enthralling as it keeps in tune with the series and keeps it fresh and fun. 8.5/10.

I just finished watching a preview of Razor and have to admit that my doubts about another Season 3 fiasco are all but removed. My biggest issues with SEason 3 was its slow pace and a lot of the episodes were stand alone meaning that the things happening during those episodes had no consequence of the overall story. Razor is mostly a flashback and deals with the pegasus crew how they survived the attack on the colonies. And how Helena Cain changes from a caring and warm person to a "razor". The best part of Razor is mostly the character development we start to see how the burden of command affects lee and how his father has to guide him when making decisions that can have effects to the lives of many. RAzor has a lot of nods to the old series, and its fun to see them specially in the story being told. It adds a new dimenstion to the story that will ultimately pay back in the rest of Season 4. I hope the nelson ratings go up again because this SEason is starting to look like it might top season 2 in terms of story and action.

I have just got my eyes on the screener of the new Battlestar Galactica: Razor and here is what I think about it. BSG is one of the best series that are not yet finished. Now, its on one year-long hiatus until final season beginning in Spring 08. It looks like creators decided to push back the ending as far as they can, but meantime, they gave us something to enjoy - Battlestar Galactica: Razor. It remembered me, how I watched mini-series of Battlestar - a movie plays as long as two TV episodes would and gives us same intention and uncertain future as it did during the miniseries. Even better, it gives 3 times more of that than in the third season. That season was really upsetting - boxing fights and unimportant galactic traveling - why didn't we get more of this?? This BSG:Razor movie tokes place somewhere between miniseries, season 1 and season 2. Throughout the movie I thought - maybe this is how creators pays us back for lacking third season? Thrilling as hell, and also, new actress was hot like hell too. I really must say I enjoyed this movie. For some, it could look as unimportant side story of searching for earth. Thats not true. We get to know a lot about Pegasis crew. Turns out, that whatever it takes, you always have to leave someone behind, you always have to makes choices, even if some of them are terrible. I think that dealing with it is better than revenge, but how couldn't Battlestar and Pegasis seek for revenge while Cylons hunt them without real purpose and while they create.. things.. Concluding Battlestar Galactica: Razor is a must see movie for all BSG lovers and all SCI-FI fans, as its one of better movies about flying objects these days. i give it 9 out of 10, because thats how I rate these series, and this movie shines up-front.
