Entertaining addition to the Animated series' canon of specials, this has Mr Freeze kidnapping Comm. Gordon's daughter, plotting to use her rare blood to save his wife. Not as brooding, nor as awesomely noir-ish as the original Animated series, this instead has Robin and Batgirl to lighten things up, making Batman a bit player in his own movie. Still, there's some nice action sequences, a pacy plot and universally quality animation.

I just finished watching and taping SubZero on HBO (the latin version), and, boy, what a great movie. I saw Mr. Freeze as a threatening character for the first time (not counting the comics, where the guy doesn't even think about his wife), and it was great fun. Mask of the Phantasm was way better story-wise, but I'm glad this was made after the horrid Batman & Robin and Batman Forever. Joel Schumacher should be ashamed. What more can I say? I wanted this movie to be longer so characters could be seen more (Bullock and Gordon specially) but the action and top-notch animation more than makes up for it. The Batman Animated Series is just awesome, and now all we need is more movies. Batman Beyond would be cool as a movie.

Where do I begin. As someone who grew up with Batman the Animated Series. One of the best if not the best episode of Batman was Heart of Ice. It was one of the first shows that moved me. Picture Heart of Ice but an entire movie that's what you're getting with sub-zero but it's even more emotional and in depth then even that. I will not spoil anything but needless to say it is a must watch for Batman fans

I really love the fact that WB animation made this film. It is even better than "Mask of the Phantasam". It is way better than "Batman and Robin" (w/ George Clooney). Pretty sad state of affairs. This film was initially to go to the theaters, but after the way "Batman and Robin" bombed, they decided not to. I would have loved seeing this on the big screen. The CGI-annimation would have been great here. Michael Anasara IS Mr. Freeze. He is great in the tv series and is equally devastating here. The story is very strong. It picks up where the tv series left off with the drama concerning Victor Fries wife. It is the mid point between the original series (FOX TV) and the new one (WB TV). The use of CGI for things like the Batplane is very sharp and blends nicely with the cell animation. All in all it Is a fine entry in the Series. Highly enjoyable.

S-P-O-I-L-E-R-S. Though Mr. Freeze is the villian, they eventually, when we travel deeper into the film, it seems like Nora Fries is the evil ringleader behind it all, and though she is the object for the kidnapping, they keep focusing on her being that, and she is actually the brains and evil schemer and...well, you get the point. Also, they have brief language and several adult escapedes and violence. Still, it's a very good film for adults and Batman fans.

This film is way better than Batman & Robin and should have been in theaters instead of B&R. This film was released straight to video to get people to watch the theatrical B&R, but many people think that this film is better which is hilarious. The DCAU Mr. Freeze, Batman, and Robin are way better than what was in B&R. There is no ice puns, imagery that looks gay, bad plot, bright lights, a super villain that shouldn't be a mindless thug, and fight scenes that resemble the 1960s series. This shows that a direct to video film can be better than a theatrical release if the people working on the film care about the characters and plot instead of selling toys and being over obsessed with making the film kid friendly.

Overall, I liked the movie, altho I think that the pace of the story was a bit rushed, with no starting information or background for any of the characters, especially Mr. Freeze and Batgirl. I also did not like the computer animated CGI moments, especially the chase scenes that were unnecessary and did not blend good with the hand drawn animation. The voice acting was perfect, as always when Batman movies are in question, but all in all. I expected a bit more from this Batman film.
